It just fit way too perfectly to pass up the oppertunity to end it that well. But, never fear, a sequol is already being written and will pick up exactly where chapter six left off. :) Photobucket Banner by me :)

This is my first Twilight story and I hope you all enjoy! I apologize in advance for all the dialogue...ugh, dialogue is not my favorite part of stories, nor my best. I'm much better at descriptions...which will be in the next chapter. Enjoy! --Emma

4. Chapter 4--What have you done?

Rating 4.3/5   Word Count 2027   Review this Chapter

“Just take a deep breath Ana…everything is going to be fine,” she soothed as she ransacked the medicine cabinet in search of a bandage for her profusely bleeding lip.

“Damn, Eric, why did you have to freaking hit me so hard?” she cursed as she gently smoothed the bandage over her lip. Pulling her hood up, she checked herself in the mirror, hoping the bandage wouldn’t be visible to Jasper. Sighing, she made her way downstairs, careful to avoid the now stumbling Eric. She took one last look at him before slamming the door behind her.

“That was quick,” Jasper said starting up the engine as soon as her door was closed.

“Yeah,” she replied quietly as she pulled on her seat belt. She was silently thanking Eric for not hitting the left side, glad that her hood was still hiding the bandage.

“How was he?” Jasper asked as they sped back towards the Cullen house.

“Oh, he was pretty trashed. I just walked in and said hi…he yelled and just left. That’s all.”

“Why did he yell at you?” Jasper asked as they pulled onto the driveway; no matter how many times she rode with any of the Cullens, Areana would never be able to believe how quickly they could drive.

“Why does any drunk person yell?” she said, quickly walking up to the door. Jasper stared at her, trying to figure out why she was behaving so weird.

“Are you alright?” he asked as they climbed the stairs, Areana two ahead of him.

“I’m fine….I just want to get back because I feel bad for bailing on Alice and Bells,” she replied skipping into the room, her hood still up. She ran over to Alice and pulled her from the room, closing the door behind her as everyone in the room stared after them.

“Where’s Carlisle?” Areana asked hurriedly.

“In his study…why?” Alice asked. Areana sighed and jerked her hood off revealing the blood stained bandage. Alice’s mouth hung open as she pulled Areana towards Carlisle’s study.

“I’ll kill him!!!” Jasper thundered, anxiously pacing around Carlisle’s study, watching as he gently smoothed a bandage over Areana’s fresh stitches.

“Calm yourself, Jasper,” Carlisle coaxed, trying to calm his adopted son.

“You should’ve told me in the car,” Jasper said angrily.

“Well, Jasper, I didn’t exactly want you exposing everything to my brother. I have a feeling, drunk or not, that’s not something he would forget,” Areana replied still sitting on top of Carlisle’s desk.

“Who said he’d still be alive?” Jasper muttered under his breath.

“Please excuse my overprotective son,” Carlisle apologized as he repacked his bag.

“I don’t mind. Eric deserves whatever Jasper would’ve done to him.”

“So, are you giving me permission to tear him apart?” Jasper asked excitedly. Areana shook her head laughing.

“So much for a fun slumber party,” Alice complained as they walked back into the guest bedroom.

“It’s fine. I’m not really the best type of guest at these things. I’m always the boring girl who falls asleep before ten,” Areana replied. Alice smiled.

“So you’re one of those types…I never would’ve guess that,” she replied sarcastically.

“Sorry I ruined the party,” she apologized. Alice shook her head.

“It’s fine. Want me to drive you home?” she offered.

“I can drive.”

“I don’t know if you should. I’m sure you’d be fine, but I did give you a dose or morphine. I’d be more comfortable if you let one of us drive you back,” Carlisle interjected. Areana rolled her eyes, slightly shocked that Carlisle was so fatherly towards her.

“I’ll take her,” Jasper volunteered.

“Will Eric be there?” Carlisle asked. Areana shrugged her shoulders, pulling out her cell phone. She let the phone ring a few moments before snapping it shut.

“If he is he’s either going deaf or passed out. I’d say he left after our little…altercation.”

“Alright, Jasper. But, if he’s still there, no killing him without permission.” Carlisle shot him a stern look. Jasper barely nodded as he gently pulled Areana outside into the cold night air.

They were silent as Jasper drove Areana, and her car, back to her house. Areana was once again shocked as Jasper shut the engine off, making the normally twenty minute trip in just seven little minutes.

“Why do you drive so fast…all of you?” she asked as she rummaged around her purse, searching for the key to the front door. Her hand wrapped around the key as she turned the knob quietly in case Eric was still lurking in the shadows. She took a quick look around, checking her room last.

“No drunken brother,” Jasper said sounding a bit disappointed.

“You never answered my question,” she blurted out as she threw her purse in a nearby chair, perching on the end of her bed. “about driving fast?” Jasper smiled and sat down beside her, still keeping a safe distance between them.

“Because we can. We have better reflexes than the average human, and we like to show off to our friends,” he explained. Areana shook her head, not believing any of the Cullens’ would ever ‘show off.’

“So, is it my turn to interrogate you?”

“Sure…wait--did you really feel like I was interrogating you? I only asked you one question,” Areana replied popping her knuckles, a habit she had been trying to break for years.

“Favorite book?”

“Pride and Prejudice.” Jasper made a face as she said that.

“What is wrong with Pride and Prejudice? It’s a classic,” she defended. Areana had first read the book when she was just five years old, and it was still her favorite.

“Are you one of those crazed Darcy fanatics?” Jasper asked, a slight edge to his voice. Areana raised an eyebrow.

“Why? Jasper, are you jealous of my undying love for a fictional character?” she joked, poking him in the arm. He tried to hold back his smile, but failed.

“No, I simply feel that Darcy is--” Jasper stopped short, his head snapping towards the door.

“What?” Areana asked, alarmed at his sudden uneasiness.

“Shh…I think I heard something,” he whispered. Areana listened and, sure enough, a loud bang erupted from downstairs causing her to jump. Jasper silently stood up, walking over to the door.

“What are you doing?” Areana whispered as she quietly crept up behind him.

“Stay here. I’m going to check it out.”

“Are you crazy?! If it’s some masked murderer I’m not staying up her by myself. I’m sticking with the vampire,” she replied, closely following him downstairs. She stayed close to Jasper as they slowly crept downstairs, now wishing she had left a light on. Strangely enough, moments after thinking that, the light mysteriously flicked on, revealing what had made the noise.

“Who are--Areana?”

“Dad?” she said in disbelief, stopping in front of Jasper.

“Who the hell is he?” her father exclaimed pointing a finger at Jasper. Areana noticed her father was not alone; her brother and a thin blonde woman accompanied him.

“Who the hell is she?” she shot back, gesturing to the blonde.

“She’s my new wife!”

“Oh come on father, isn’t four times enough?” Areana said rolling her eyes. “He’s my friend.” Her father puffed out his cheeks, his face turning red.

“Dad?” Areana said as she took a step closer. Suddenly, in one swift motion, her father’s hand crushed against her cheek leaving a burning mark. Jasper was at her side in a split second, positioning himself in between Areana and her father. She put out her hand to restrain him.

“Calm down,” she cautioned.

“So, I let you move down here, I buy you a new car, and this is how you repay me? By turning into…into a whore?!” her father said peering at her over Jasper’s shoulder.

“Dad, I told you we weren’t doing anything! I was at a sleepover with a friend when this drunken idiot called,” she said gesturing to Eric, “I came by the house to take his keys and he hit me, so when I went back to get my stuff, Carlisle fixed my face--”

“Who’s Carlisle?!” her father roared. Jasper forced Areana back a few inches.

“My father. He’s a doctor,” Jasper said, his voice shaking despite his efforts to control his anger.

“Oh…I see. So you’re sleeping with the father…and the son!? I will not have a slut under my roof!!!”

“Dad! Stop it! You’re being--”

“Maybe you can go live with your boyfriend…or should I say the father to you future bastard!” he yelled. The blonde woman look around uncomfortably while Eric leaned against the wall, the effects of the alcohol now hitting his system.

“You know what-she can come live with me. My family loves her, like a real family is supposed to. No more drunken brothers or outrageous fathers!” Jasper exclaimed swiftly turning to go upstairs.

“What are you doing?” Areana asked worriedly. Jasper gently pressed his lips against her forehead.

“I’m getting your things. We’re leaving; I’ll call Emmett to come and get us so your father can have his precious car back,” he explained. Areana nodded helplessly, turning to face her father as Jasper disappeared upstairs, sounds of drawers being ripped open and slammed shut floating downstairs.

“Dad, please don’t do this. If you’d just listen--”

“You’re just like your mother! Like mother, like daughter they always say. I should’ve known you’d turn out just like that slut!” her father exclaimed, his face reddening by the second. Areana took a step closer, pointing her finger angrily at him.

“You are the one who cheated on her! My mother was not a slut, nor am I! Did you honestly think your little ‘business trips’ would fool her? I was only three and even I knew what you were up to!” Her father angrily stomped his goot, roughly grabbing Areana by the arm.

“Don’t you ever speak to me that way again! I am your father--”

“I guess that’s your interpretion of the definition but it’s not quite mine.” His grip on her arm tightened causing her to wince with pain.

“You’re hurting me,” she said quietly, looking down at her arm. Her father began violently shaking her, slamming her head into the wall, causing Eric to dodge left to avoid being hit.

“Stop it!” Areana pleaded. Her father slammed her into the wall once more before forcefully throwing her into a crumpled pile on the floor.

“You-” he started, but was cut short as the front door banged open.

“Touch her again and I’ll kill you,” Emmett said walking in. Areana struggled to sit up, holding her left arm close to her body, or else yield to the pain.

“What…I could have you arrested for attempted murder!!” her father exclaimed, watching as Emmett snorted, gently hoisting Areana into his arms.

“And I could have you arrested for child negligence, abuse, assault, and battery,” Emmett shot back. Her father back up a few steps, speechless. Jasper stood at he bottom of the stairs, anxiously tapping his foot while simultaneously popping his knuckles.

“Emmett-I’m fine. You can put me down,” Areana said quietly as she watched Jasper set down her bags. Jasper wordlessly walked over, motioning for Emmett to pass Areana to him. He gently cradled her in his arms as they walked out to the car, Emmett close behind with her bags. Jasper climbed into the backseat, shrugging out of his jacket before placing it over Areana as a blanket. Areana rested her head against his chest, her body beginning to ache all over.

They reached the Cullen house in record time. Jasper lifted her out of the car, gently handing her to Emmett.

“Take her to Carlisle. I’ll be back,” he said quietly.

“Where are you--”

“Where the hell do you think I’m going?” Jasper exclaimed cutting Emmett off.

“Jasper-just don’t. Maybe now I won’t have to deal with any of them anymore,” Areana said as Jasper sat in the drivers seat. His hands gripped the steering wheel so hard his knuckles began changing colors.

“Please?” Areana begged. Jasper sighed, smacking his hand against the steering wheel before taking her from Emmett once more, stalking off into the house.
