I went inside to find something to wear for the night. I tossed then entire contents of my closet on the bed and floor, I had no clue what to wear.
The time flew by and before I knew it my mom was home and calling for me, "Claire, where are you?"
"In here!" I yelled to her from my room.
She started to walk into my room but stopped at the doorway and looked shocked, "What on Earth happened?"
"Oh, um sorry?" I said shyly.
"What is the occasion?" mom asked trying to walk in the room.
"Bond fire." I said standing up. I made my way to the bed to sit and pushed off clothes on the floor.
"With anyone special?" mom asked with a smile on her face.
"No, just Quil but I always have to look good," I told her.
Mom stood up and picked up a pair of jeans and shirt from the ground, "Here,"
I paced the living room waiting for it to be eight. Time felt like it stood still, seconds took forever. I looked at the clock one last time when there was a knock on the door.
"I got it!" I shouted running to the door.
I opened it to see a very good looking Quil standing there waiting for me.
How did I get so lucky?
"Ready?" he asked.
I made the stupid move and looked in his eyes. I got lost for a second, I tried to say yeah but nothing came out so I just nodded.
Everyone was getting settled when we walked up. Sam was hugging Emily, Embry and Paul was starting the fire and Jared and Kim were sitting on a log talking.
"The gangs all here." Jared said to us as we walked up, "Well a'lmost everyone."
"Where is Jake?" Quil asked Jared.
"No clue, he said he was showing up later." Sam told us.
"No worries, more food for us then," Embry chuckled.
Everyone laughed at jokes and passed the food around. I was trying to listen to Emily's conversation with Kim but kept gettingconfused when I turned to face the buys conversaton.
Eventually I just ignored everyone and started looking at the fire. I was watching the embers floating upward when Quil whispered in my ear, "Want to take a walk?"
We walked down the beach away from everyone. I sat down to look at the stars, "Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?"
"Actually I have." Quil said sitting next to me.
What is he talking about, there is nothing more beautiful than stars.
Finally I caught what he ment, and could not stop blushing.
"Quil, can I tell you something and you not freak out?" I asked shyly.
"Sure, you can trust me." Quil said still looking at the stars.
"You have always been there for me, and I have always liked it. You have always felt like a big brother to me." I told him.
"But, I am to the point where I don't need someone looking after me anymore --" I was telling Quil when he stopped me.
"Claire, you don't have to tell me how you feel," He said.
"But I do, I understand if you feel differently but Quil I think..." I started to say.
Quil stopped me again, seeing it was going to take forever to explain my story, "Claire I feel the same."
"Well, its getting late we should get back," Quil said standing up.
I sat there for a second longer, Quil walked back and extended a hand, "Come on,"
Quil took my hand and helped me to my feet. He started walking towards the group once more but stopped to see me standing still.
"What is it Claire?" He asked puzzled.
Finally I got the courage and acted on it, I walked right up to him and planted a kiss on his big lips.
It felt right kissing him, I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him down towards me. His arms wrapped around my waist pulling me closer.
We finally had to catch our breaths and let go, "Okay," I said staggering past him.
I was just past him, when his arms caught my waist and turned me around, he was the one this time kissing me.
We were totally oblivious to anything around us, and then we heard the guys hooting at us.
I broke away from Quil and faced the guys, "Oh shut up!"
