1. Edward's POV

Rating 5/5   Word Count 572   Review this Chapter

Morning falls like rain into the city life
There goes another night
Losing my breath in waves
Knowing that ever crash is bleading the hourglass
And taking the strife from all our lives

Everyone keeps talking
They promise you everything
But they don’t mean anything

We may loose our focus
There’s just too many words
We’re never meant to learn
And we don’t feel so alive

So goodbye, these days are gone
And we can’t keep holding on
When all we need is some relief
Through these hard times
Through these hard times

Move your hands in circles
Keeping me hypnotized
The power behind your eyes
[ These Hard Times lyrics found on http://lyrics.skycrewz.net/ ]
Move around your bedroom cursing the naked sky
You should be here tonight
But you stay alone and cry

Say goodbye, these days are gone
And we can’t keep holding on
When all we need is some relief
Through these hard times
(whoa) There’s something missing
(Oh whoa) You’ll never feel it but you
(Oh whoa) You’re gonna feel it when it’s gone
When it’s gone

Say goodbye, these days are gone
And we can’t keep holding on
When all we need is some relief
Through these hard times
(hey) these Hard times
(oh no now) Hard times
Hard times

Say goodbye, these days are gone
Say goodbye, these days are gone
These days are gone

Edward's POV

The light breeze ruffled my hair, sending it dancing. The meadow was beautiful as always. I stared sullenly at nothing. I had learned to block my senses, except for the constant buzzing of thoughts that sounded like a bug zapper.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

The thoughts prodded my mind, keeping me from lapsing into a much desired catatonic state. A dull throb pounded in my head, and I cursed my imagination as it bent the throbbing into a pulsing word in the back of my mind.

Bella.

Bella.

Bella.

Bella.

Bella.

Bella.

Bella.

I snarled at myself. Oh, how I hated me.

Bella.

Bella.

Bella.

Bella.

BELLA.

But the through the dull thoughts that were distanced from me, entered one that was sharper and closer.

What is that I smell?

I rocked back, then lurched forward, flying through the air and landing in a crouch, no desire for the company of a fellow vampire.

I couldn't help but take a fleeting look around the meadow. Our meadow.

I just realized I recognized Laurent's thoughts. He was hunting. Disgusting.

I sprang through the wildflowers and took off, trying to run from the memories that swarmed me no matter the speed.

I had promised not to interfere, and instead of veering towards Forks, my angel, and the only place I wanted to be, I continued on. No vague idea of where on was.

Just a lost vampire with no stars. It was a dark night, or perhaps not. Perhaps I had just been blinded, by brilliance that had damaged my eyes. Damaged them for the better.

But I would let the beautiful meteor keep blazing past life in brilliance, not wanting to suck it up like the black hole I was.

Little did I know that the silence I heard in my head, I assumed was the absence of another's presence, was really the silence that I had heard in that meadow before. When only I and the one I so desperately tried to keep safe had tested the boundaries of my self-control. I had restrained myself, and kept her safe. And now, I ran, unaware that I had just left my love to walk into Death's arms. When I had suffered for these months in a desperate attempt to keep her safe.

Because of the silence of her thoughts. The silence of a brilliant meteor, burning brightly and silently across the sky.

Because of silence, I ran on.
