20 years after Bella and Edwards wedding
xxx Preface xxx
I turned a page of pride and prejudice (what else?), trying not to rip the page this time. My newfound strength was hard to control, even after twenty years of vampire strength I wasn’t used to the idea.
Edward was sitting next to me on the massive, flawlessly white sofa. He was reading Dracula, ironically enough. “It’s very amusing,” Edward had said.
Rosalie was curled up on the huge sofa engrossed in some magazine.
Jasper was sprawled on the floor reading some unknown book with a brown leather binding. Carlisle was at the hospital, Esme was out running some errands, Emmett was off hunting, and Alice was no where to be seen.
Alice suddenly burst into the room. “Were going to school,” she sang. We all looked up simultaneously. “What?” I asked, impossible.
“Well you know how we were talking about going back to High School someday? Well Esme enrolled us!” Alice clapped her hands happily obviously thrilled.
Suddenly Alice became stiff and she sank to the ground slowly staring off into space. She was having a vision.
Jasper immediately put his arms around her staring intently at Alice’s face.
Edward’s eyes suddenly became hard, and my eyes locked with his. He shook his head ever so slightly. “It’s not bad,” Edward whispered, barely audible. I relaxed slightly but waited expectantly at Alice.
“What did you see?” Rosalie asked impatiently.
“There are other like us, at our new school,” Alice said finally speaking. I drew a sharp intake of breath.
“There not bad, there eyes were golden.”
“How many?” Jasper asked quietly.
“Only two, female and male.” Everyone relaxed visibly.
Esme glided into the room back from her errands
“Guess what I just did?” Esme’s smile became more pronounced as she spoke
“School?” Edward asked.
“How did you know?”
Alice’s smile became smug.
Later that day...
I was sitting on the couch in Emmett and Rosalie’s room staring blankly at the screen. I was engrossed in my own thoughts, but I was vaguely aware of Emmett trying to teach Bella how to play some mindless video game.
Edward come here, NOW! Alice called urgently in my thoughts
“I’ll be right back,” I murmured. Bella and Emmett only nodded vaguely, concentrating on the game.
I ran as a quickly as possible to Alice and Jaspers room.
She couldn’t have had a vision; I hadn’t seen it in her thoughts. But then again I wasn’t focusing on her, so it was possible I hadn’t seen it. I burst into the room. Alice was sitting on her bed waiting for me.
“You might want to sit down before I say anything,” She whispered, folding her hands daintily in her lap. I narrowed my eyes but obliged, sitting on a white impeccably clean red chair in the corner.
“Edward I had a vision,” she began slowly looking anywhere but my face.
Alice looked tiered, well for a vampire. Three visions in one day had taken its toll on her. It also had the whole family on high alert. Alice usually only had such a large amount of visions when there was impending danger, something that threatened us.
“I learned more about them, the male in particular. They seem to have known the Denali Clan,” Alice continued.
We had not been on good terms with Tanya’s family since Laurent’s demise. I didn’t like the sound of this.
“The male he was, well he was…” she looked down, “flirting with Bella,” she said this quietly.
I became still.
“What?!” I asked incredulously. I could not believe Alice had just said that.
“Yes, he seemed to be taking a lot of interest in her,” the words spilled out now as she became distressed. “I had another vision and he was ‘courting Bella’, and he asked her to run away with him!” She finished shock filling her voice.
I couldn’t move. My Bella, someone was going to try and take away my Bella! Impossible. When a thought struck me I suddenly remembered how to move my lips.
“What was her reaction?” I asked my voice barely audible.
“I don’t know,” her brow furrowed in concentration. “I think,” she paused “I think she was considering it” her musical voice so quiet I strained to hear.
I wasn’t breathing, I couldn’t move. The thought of Bella being taken away from me sent my head spinning. She had almost chose me over that dog years ago, but another vampire?!?
“Maybe we shouldn’t go back to school,” Alice said quietly.
“No!” I said my voice colored with newfound determination.
“Nothing will come between Bella and me,” I said thinking of all the obstacles we had passed together. We loved each other, it was as simple as that, and nothing would tear us apart. This was just another way to prove our love.
“Please do not tell anyone about this, especially Bella,” I said rubbing my temples.
“Of course,” Alice said patting me on the back before running off to find Jasper.
I ran back to Bella, my one true love.
