JASPER’S POV

I couldn’t believe this was happening. It was hard enough to resist the urge. The need to kill every human I ran into. But now this new girl, Isabella had to show up. Her blood is unlike any other I have ever tasted in my existence. I can’t stop picturing what it would be like to lead her out the door and fed. I can tell my family knows that something’s up. I can feel their emotions. Edwards rage at the thoughts in my mind, Alice’s worry that I won’t be able to control myself. I stand with my tray and make like I’m going to throw my uneaten food away. I plan to walk over and offer to show her around school and attack when we’re alone. I start to walk over there when I hear an unfamiliar voice. “Jessica? Who’s the blonde boy over there?”

BELLA’S POV

I knew it was a mistake to move from Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington. I knew it deep in my bones. I hated everything about this town, from the over-helpful people to the constant rain. I was regretting my decision and was debating about going home and calling my mom, Renee, and asking her to buy me a ticket home. I knew it would break my dad’s heart but it was breaking mine to be here. But once I saw him, all those thoughts raced out of my mind.

He was sitting at a table with four others. They were all remarkably beautiful. There were two girls who couldn’t have been any different. One was a perfect blonde girl, with a figure that caused every girl’s self esteem to fall. The other was short in the extreme and had short black hair that jutted out in every which way.

Of the three boys one was large, with muscles that took years to obtain. He had black curly hair and a quick smile. The other was less muscled, yet still strong. He had messy bronze hair and seemed aggravated for some reason.

And the one who caught my stare in the first place was different than the others. He had blonde hair and was muscled in a way that caught your attention. He looked as though he was waging a war against himself.

All five of them thought were exactly the same. They had dark, almost black eyes, and deep purple bruises under them. Their features were perfect, straight and strong. They were the picture of perfection and yet they were sitting as far away as they could from the rest of us students.

I looked over to my neighbor Jessica, and saw her smiling at me. “So you have noticed the perfect Cullen’s?” she asked staring at them like I had returned to doing.

“Jessica? Who’s the blonde boy over there?” He had stood up and was walking towards us when he stopped and he fixed his eyes on me.

I quickly dropped my eyes and waited for her response. “That’s Japer Hale. The ones he was sitting with are his siblings, Edward , Emmett and Alice Cullen and Rosalie Hale. They’re the adopted children of Dr. Cullen and his wife.” She said looking a tad sour. “They’re all together though. Alice and Edward, Emmett and Rosalie. And they live together.”

“Excuse me?” A deep voice asked. It had a touch of a southern accent, a little out of place in this small town.

I looked up to see Jasper Hale standing in front of me. Beside me Jessica was hyperventilating.

Looking into his eyes, I knew I wouldn’t call Renee today or any day for that matter. I would stay in Forks as long as Jasper Hale was here.
