I made the mistake of letting the voice distract me, so my destination slipped from my mind.

I landed softly in the middle of a cool, dark forest. The cold air stirred around me and I felt something change. I looked down and watched my hair turn black.

I heard something ahead and I stalked forward, letting my eyes tighten threateningly. I saw a small orange flicker and crept closer, noticing a large figure silently gazing at the fire.

It's head whipped up and I saw it's nostrils flare. A man. Native American and when he spoke, his voice sounded like the one in front of the house I had dropped Katie at.

A musky smell hit my fragile nose and I felt a twinge.

"Another one?" He ran into the trees and I heard a ripping sound, then a bass growl.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I snarled at him, backing quickly away. I didn't know what it was, but my instincts told me it was enemy, meant to be destroyed. But it had been human, and I did not want to take a second human's life today, no matter how evil. All I wanted was to destroy the newborn and get home so Cne could make me forget.

It snarled back at me, and I slid around a tree trunk, my back pressed to it. It followed me as we broke into the sunlight, but paused as my skin shimmered.

I turned and ran back into the forest, ducking and dipping and turning and twisting my way through the gnarled trucks and over mossy logs. I was dancing a complex pattern, and the wolf was my partner.

We finally came to another large clearing where I stopped and turned to face him. I had given him plenty of time, but he was persistent. I disappeared, but didn't mute my sound or smell.

The wolf jumped backwards, then ran into the trees. I appeared again, and folded myself down on the ground weary of today's memories and events. It put a mental strain on me.

I stiffened as the wind shifted and I smelled THEM. There were more, and they were coming for me. I jumped up, but I was surrounded. TEN.

I turned, expecting to feel a gust of wind, but none came, I just stumbled and righted myself again. The wolves stalked forward and a prickling ran through my arms.

I screamed.

As I screamed, they converged around me and I realized I would have to fight as bloodthirsty as I possibly could without my powers.

I turned and dipped and spun and lashed and tore my way through the legs but they wouldn't let up. Sometimes, one would hobble away, but they took shifts. I was fighting the hardest fight of my life without my powers, and there was no doubt I was losing.

Little snarls erupted involuntarily out of me and it agitated them more. I bit my lips in a grimace, not knowing how long it would take me to die.

My loss of powers, was most unfortunate, if you wanted to put it lightly, for it would be the cause of my death.

But when I pushed one of the three smaller wolves and he was thrown off balance, I felt something inside me. Immediately, I disappeared and ran, but as soon as he regained his feet, I was visible again. The fight continued, and both sides, me being the only one on my side, were merciless.

Something bubbled to my lips, and before I could even think, I yelled, "EMBRY!"

A thin gray wolf, with dark spots on his back, froze and the others did as well.

"I knew Michelle! Your Imprint!" I panted and he jumped at me with new ferocity.

I closed my eyes and ducked my head, waiting for the impact, but it never came. Instead, a bronze blur flew in front of me and the wolf was pushed slightly to the side. Two other blurs were in the clearing, pushing the wolves back not in offensive moves, but defensive.

A russet colored wolf whined and turned to bolt. The others looked hesitantly at me, undecided.

The statue of a man stood in front of me as I looked at the ground, still panting. I pushed myself off the ground, and moved forward, growling.

I made my hands disappear and it worked, I had my powers back. I planted my feet into the ground and snarled threateningly, my eyes flashing a mix of gold and red from the man I had attacked earlier. The animal blood hadn't washed it away and my natural gold clashed with it, confusing the wolves as to if I was on the new-coming vampires side, or one all of my own. I didn't even know yet.

They returned the threat, positioning themselves to show they would fight. Some wolves had left the fight with the larger one, and now, my powers had returned. The battle had turned in my favor so that it wasn't even fair.

The other vampires were a short, pixie-like girl, a slightly taller brunette girl, and the bronze-haired man. The brunette looked like she would've been crying if human, and the other two were impassive.

I constantly turned, constantly felt the swift wind as I moved from spot to spot, striking then dancing out again, as if testing the water. The pack would gather into a mob, protecting each other's backs, until I would be in the middle, scattering them out.

The vampires watched, which I was glad. It made it a bit fairer.

I snarled and bared my teeth, dancing and dipping right in and out of their jaws before their dagger-like teeth snapped down on my stone skin.

Felix would've been proud.

Edward's POV

Cruel as it was, and I would never tell Bella, I was PROUD.

All we had to do was make the wolf Collin flee, and Lizzie had those wolves knowing they were finished. Collin had a power, which was strange, since we had never heard of werewolves getting powers, that could shut off a vampire's special powers.

Lizzie was more beautiful than we'd ever seen, dipping in and out, all places at once. I had never felt more related to her as I watched the catlike prowl that was mine.

Her eyes kept the gold they had when human, but her eyes were red. There was no way I was telling anyone else, and I would make sure Bella and Alice didn't either.

Bella. Jacob had seen her and fled, along with some of the pack. Sam had made the young ones go. He knew a lost cause when he saw one. Bella was frozen, tears would've been pouring down her face, but they couldn't.

Alice. God, someone help her. Seeing Lizzie's eyes, she had been having a breakdown inside. I wished I could make her understand. The VOLTURI. She was probably being forced.

At least that's what I was telling myself. Until I heard her thoughts.

Felix would've been proud.

I almost could've sworn I felt tears spill over and run down my face but I knew better.

Bella heard too, and turned to bury her face in my shirt.

Alice watched both of us with eternal eyes, and didn't even asked. She didn't want to hear.

You have no idea, I thought to her, as another feral growl erupted from Lizzie's chest.
