"Cne!" I wept and hurled myself at her as she entered through the door cautiously. I locked my arms around her neck and felt sobs shake my body.

"Elizabeth!" she hissed quietly and I backed away. My full name. I hadn't been called that...in a long time.

When she saw my bewildered face, hers softened. "I'm sorry, I keep forgetting that you can't remember."

My hair turned bluish-gray. By now, they knew what that meant. "It's okay," she purred, patting me like always when I remembered I killed my family. But this time that wasn't it.

"It's not okay, Cne Cween." The name came out of my mouth without my permission and she whirled, her red eyes flashing. She wanted to hunt animals but she did not defy Jane.

"What did you say?" she hissed angrily but there was no doubt fear was etched on her pale face. Her blood red lips seemed even redder against her pale face and they trembled.

"Cne," I turned my gold eyes full force on her. "Make me forget. I don't want to remember Katie, or Michelle . . . or Bella, or Edward, or...." I trailed off.

"I never gave you the names," the whisper escaped her mouth roughly.

"I know."

"How did you remember?" Our faces were bent intently toward each other. Her short blonde hair was slightly spiked away from her sharp facial features. My face was slightly softer but my eyes made up for it. They were blazing.

"I don't know. But it hurt. It hurt more than the pain of my transformation."

My hair was now flaring red, and was hanging around my face in tresses. I swept it away impatiently.

"Make me forget," My words rang with command.

Her eyes narrowed and she snarled. "Don't worry. I will."

"Good."

Because I had earned Jane's trust. I could start what I had been planning ever since I had stopped trusting Jane. Now I could only hope Cne was loyal to me. Or everything would fail. I would have to trust Cne more than myself. Because soon, all my memory of this would be gone. Soon.

"Lizzie," Jane carelessly addressed me one day in the throne room as I returned from the hunt. I stiffened, knowing as casual as her voice sounded, you could never trust Jane.

"Yes?" I turned to look at her but she avoided my eyes. She always had, and she had punished me for something I could not control. The fact that there were ALWAYS gold flecks in my eyes, even when I had fed on humans.

"I need you."

"Yes, Jane," I said, and turned away from the door, gliding to the center of the gray stoney room as the other vampires filtered out.

Her eyes were bright red; she was always in a good mood after feeding.

Sure enough, the faint perfume of human blood was in her breath as she spoke.

"There is a newborn, in Canada and parts of Alaska, with no use to us and is stirring up trouble. I'm only guessing it's a newborn, it could just be a suicidal vampire." Jane was watching my face very carefully. Suspiciously.

"Those are hard to come by," I murmured, raising an eyebrow, "I've never heard of a suicidal vampire."

"No, I suppose you haven't, Jane smirked, seeming satisfied, and I growled. My hair was darkening fast and Jane took that as a caution sign, easing up slightly and returning to business.

"I need you to find the cause of the trouble, and take care of it," She said briskly, handing me a newspaper that announced a mass number of killings.

"Denali. Now go." She turned and I was dismissed, dancing out of the room while my gray cape billowed out behind me.

Something was bothering me...like this had happened before.

Why had this happened before?

~~~~~~~~~
I had been in Denali for three days, and had met another vampire coven. The leader was Tanya and she had acted strangely when she had greeted me.
"I have come to take care of a newborn."
"Is there anoth---" She cut off. I looked at her strangely. "Never mind," she muttered, turning away from my probing eyes.
And now I had been searching for this newborn for days when my new cell phone rang. I couldn't remember what happened to my old one.
"Hello?"
"You are no longer needed to dispose of the newborn." Jane's voice sounded satisfied, as though she was expecting me to disagree. Like I was hiding something.
"Yes, Jane."
The line went dead and I stared at the phone. I suppose I should call the pilot, but I needed to hunt first.
Then, the caller ID brightened as Cne's name lit up the screen.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Lizzie. It's Cne," a voice whispered.
"And?"
"Oh, right. You can't remember the plan."
"What plan?"
She cursed. "This is going to be harder than I thought. Lizzie? Can you teleport to my room."
"Alright." I dare not defy anyone so closely associated with Jane.
I felt the wind, and I stood in the room, my phone still held to my ear.
I blinked, wide-eyed, then stowed it away.
Cne's soft laugh floated as she looked at me lovingly. Like we were sisters.
"You don't see a naive vampire often," Cne murmured as she brushed my windblown hair out of my eyes.
"I can just imagine you with big blue eyes and a lollipop." She tilted her head then sighed and looked away. I looked in the mirror behind her shoulder. I did look naive and innocent. But my eyes were far from blue. They were red.
"Where is that fiery you?! The one so defiant!" she suddenly whirled around, her eyes flashing.
"You're pushing away what is your fate!"
The word 'fate', hit me so hard I pressed my knuckles to my forehead and closed my eyes. what was happening? Why was I hurting? What was Cne talking about?
"You are a leader! You need to save all the newborns. You need to save ME! They're becoming killers. Before I changed them, they were so sweet. They were SHY! And now they're tearing their souls apart!" Her hands were tugging at her hair and covering her face.
"This was your plan! But you put ME in charge. You are NOT supposed to be like this! This was YOUR plan! You're fierce and you're a fighter! YOU drank animal blood! YOU let Jane torture you to no end! YOU DIDN'T CARE!" Tears were streaming down her face.
"How are you crying?"
"My power," she muttered, turning away, "I cried so much when we moved, but then I didn't care. But I cried even when I was numb."
"What plan?" I asked softly, trying to figure out why I didn't know.
"The revolt."
"Revolt?"
"The revolt against the Volturi. But first, you're getting your memories back. You're GOING to remember. Everything." She turned to look at me and her eyes were gold. Defiant.
That sparked what I'm sure I had muttered a few times before.
"Those are hard to come by," I murmured, raising an eyebrow, "I've never heard of a suicidal vampire."
Well, now I had. Planning a revolt against the Volturi. You couldn't get any more suicidal than that.
And that's exactly what we were doing.
