2. All But One

Rating 4.5/5   Word Count 1445   Review this Chapter

The house was unusually light, so open, and so welcome. But right now it looked like something out of a horror movie, this was the other part I was dreading.

I was secretly in regret about my whole decision with Edward, and I despised myself for it. I have to change moods or jasper would know which means Edward would know, and I really didn’t want that. Okay, another emotion I was feeling. That was easy, there were hundreds of them in me at the moment; anxiousness, worry, nervousness, and I was scared. As soon as Edward looked up at me I realized what his expression was. I was shaking, not bad, but my hands were and so was my legs. “I’m fine.” I insisted. I would have to control it now or there would be a discussion with Edward that I really didn’t want to talk about. I could see it now-

“Bella there is no reason to be scared.”

“Uh, correction yes there is, just one person in particular, Rosalie.”

“Don’t worry about her, nothing will happen to you. She’s not that bad.”

“Once again, correction, yes she is!”

And on and on it would go, no thank you, I don’t want to be part of that conversation. And to my relief, jasper walked in just before Edward could say anything. He calmed me down, and the shaking stopped. Instead there was happiness, pure joy. I mouthed ‘thank you’ to him. He nodded. Thank god for jasper.

I should be feeling pure joy; I was being married, and then possibly changed into a vampire. So many possibilities. I took on that pure joy, and before I knew it I didn’t need jasper’s help anymore. I smiled as everyone else acknowledged we were in the house.

“HI Bella!” Alice squealed and ran up to me. She started jumping up and down. “Um, Alice. Control it for now. They still don’t know.” I pointed to the family all grouped together by the stairs, all of them looked a little flustered.

“Right, right. Sorry.” She managed to control herself to a huge smile, which was good enough.

“We still don’t know what?” Jasper asked us suspiciously.

“Why don’t we go in the living room?” Esme said. Edward nodded and led me to the room with the piano, always covering up my ring so nobody could guess it. He kept on shaking his head. “Please, if you have an idea just say it out loud, my head hurts from all of your ideas.” Edward said, covering his ear with his free hand. “sorry.” they all muttered.

“Bella’s going to be a vampire?” jasper guessed. We both shook our heads, and so did Alice. “What you were in this too? That is not fair!!” Emmett accused at Alice. She shrugged, a little smug.

“Bella’s getting a car?” Emmett guessed. “Excuse me. I have a perfectly good one, thank you very much.” I said.

“Wrong thing to say, Emmett.” Edward said, chuckling at my response.

“I give up.” Some of them muttered, already guessing in there head to Edward before.

“Bella’s pregnant?” Emmett asked as a last resort. Edward just stared at him with a disbelieved look on his face. I looked at him like he was crazy. All of us knew that that was physically impossible for a vampire. There was a moment of silence until the laughing started. Edward broke in a roar of laughter before Rosalie spoke. “I married an idiot.” She muttered. I had to laugh at that to.

“Emmett, my mentally challenged brother, only you could come up with that. I can’t think of a single person who could.” Edward said still laughing. That even made Emmett laugh as well, jasper I couldn’t even look at, he was on the floor laughing, which affected everyone else to laugh with him.

“Please, it could happen.” Emmett mumbled.

“Yeah, right. We all, all the smart ones, know that it is impossible. You have a sick mind, Emmett. Use your brain.” I said. “Sorry, love. I don’t think he has one.” Edward said.

“Okay, okay. We got our little laugh, so what is it, what’s your big news? And why won’t you let go of Bella’s left hand?” Emmett said.

The key word there was my left hand. I think he was catching on, which was surprising for a guy who thought my big news was somethiing impossible. I looked at Edward and he nodded.

“We…are kinda...” I started. “Going to get married.” Edward finished. I saw Esme clap her hand over her mouth. Emmett had a huge smile on his face. Carlisle was smiling, he walked over to Edward and I. “that’s great, I can’t wait. Welcome to the family, Bella.” He said looking over to me. “Thanks Carlisle.” I said. He hugged me.

“I CAN’T WAIT!!! Bella Edward, this is going to be great. We have to set dates for the wedding and a place and invitations, oh, and the dress!!!” she said jumping up and down. “Let’s take a look at that ring.” Edward released my hand and Alice took it to examine the ring on my finger. “It’s perfect.” She whispered. I nodded. “Well my work here is done for one night.” She nodded proud of herself for helping pick out the ring.

I looked around again, jasper was grinning at us, and then he started laughing. Edward looked a bit embarrassed and mad. He got in a stance to leap at jasper.

“Oh, it wasn’t that bad.” Jasper said. Edward snorted and growled.

What would jasper be thinking to drive Edward to that extreme? On second thought, I don’t even want to know.

“You two cut it out!” Esme scolded. “Ya, the least you could do is take it outside.” Emmett joked. “No, they will not take it anywhere. It isn’t going anywhere because this stupid fight is going to stop, NOW!” Esme growled.

Edward was suddenly next to me. “Sorry” he muttered. “If it wasn’t for you two, I could tell Bella how I feel.” Esme was next to me, then hugging me.

“Oh dear, you don’t even know how long I waited for those words to come out of Edwards mouth. Thank you.” She said to me. She looked like she would be crying with joy at the moment if she could.

She went over to Edward and hugged him too. Emmett looked happy, he was still grinning, until he looked back at Rosalie. I did too; she was grimacing at me, not happy like the others at all. Emmett walked over to her and put his arm around her, but she pushed it off. All the while I just stood there, looking at them. I hope she isn’t too mad.

He started talking to her then. Emmett and she were across the room, so I couldn’t make out what they were saying. I tried to listen with all my might, but it was too hard with the excited squeals of Alice and they excided family members talking to one another.

Suddenly Rosalie got furious at Emmett. She started yelling at him, I knew he didn’t do anything to upset her, but that I did. My worst thoughts were coming true. “NO EMMETT. That is just crap. They are just crap.” She gestured to Edward and me.

Everyone was quite now, even Alice. Rosalie shook her head at all of us and darted out of the room and up the stairs, talk about dramatic exits.

I looked up at Edward, afraid at what his temper might do. I was expecting Rosalie to get angry, but that was way above my expectations. Edward surprisingly hugged me. “Don’t listen to her.” He whispered in my ear. I nodded; but how could I not?

What Rosalie said made me sad; it took all of my courage and strength to block the tears from the waterworks.

Alice quickly changed the subject to something about the wedding, which purposely I did not agree on. She wanted me to talk and get my mind off of it. And of course I talked. I did not want a big wedding, but Alice thought I should.

Even though I was defending my side of the argument my brain wasn’t fully in it. It was still thinking about the horrible comment by Rosalie. All the time I was at the Cullen’s house, she never came down. And when Edward insisted that I leave and go to bed I didn’t argue, I didn’t have the strength. I was hoping to dear god as I lay in bed back at my house that comment would go away. But would it ever?
