I can’t believe Edward and Bella are engaged?!”

“Well, believe it.”

I heard as I walked down the hall to gym-finally, the last hour of the day.

It had been going on like that since that horrible Monday. It was now a week later and nothing changed. At times I felt like I might cry, and at times I felt like I wanted to slap someone. I even ran out of my Spanish class because I couldn’t take it anymore. Edward found me in my car during lunch crying, so he made me feel better and I finally went to lunch. It really was that bad-way too much drama for me.

And of course, Charlie had been still the same. But lately his face showed pure confidence-who knows why?

I sighed and opened the gym door as usual. I changed in to my gym close and went to the side of the gym where everyone was huddled up. I stood there waiting for the horror to come.

I was to tiered and occupied when I walked in to notice the volleyball net that was set up in the middle of the gym, crap. ‘Not again’ I said silently in my head. I was never any good at volleyball. I was on mikes team. People knew me to well to put me in front so the team caption put me in back, next to mike. I looked at the other team’s faces-they looked like they were going to go for hitting the ball towered my direction, because they have the advantage of me not being on their team.

Lately, mike looked like he would cry anytime he saw me. I felt bad for him too- there was nothing I could do though.

“Bella...” mike started to say.

I smiled at him, “yes, mike?” I asked.

“Why…why did you...say yes?” he whispered. I automatically knew he was asking why I said yes to marry Edward.

“Mike, I’m sorry. But...we can still be friends couldn’t we? My decision doesn’t affect that, our friendship, dose it?”

“Bella, in a way, that really doesn’t work.” He said

“Why not?” I asked him

“Forget it.” He muttered.

I was about to say something but when I looked up I saw the volleyball flying up near the ceiling, but then coming down and somehow I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. THUMP. There was a feeling on my head as though somebody smacked it hard, really hard. Then when the ball was rolling away from me, I realized that the volleyball hit my head. It really hurt.

“ouch.” was all I could say. I sank to my knees.

“Bella, are you okay?” Mike asked.I heard some of the students start laughing, I groaned. I laid my head slowly on the ground and shut my eyes. I heard couch Clapp come over. I slowly opened my eyes, but shut them when I saw that the whole class was huddled around me.

“Bella, do you need to go to the nurse’s office?” he asked me.

I didn’t know what to do, but maybe it was worth getting out of gym.

“yes.” I whispered my hands on my head.

“Who would like to take Ms. Swan to the nurses office?” he asked the class.

“Um, actually couch Clapp; I really can manage going myself.” I said.

“Bella, you know I can’t let you do that, it’s against the rules. And I don’t think you can walk that great, you can’t even sit up.” He said, for I tried to sit but failed wincing weakly. This is ridiculous, volleyball hit me in the head, it shouldn’t have this much of an effect on me- I don’t know what’s wrong. Then as I opened my eyes again I realized I was seeing double vision. I squeezed them shut again. Who was going to take me if I can’t walk-the only people who can pick me up is Edward or Alice.

“I’m up for it.” Edward said as he opened the gym doors and stepped in. he quickly ran to my side.

“Mr. Cullen, I afraid I will need to see a pass.” Coach Clapp ordered Edward.

“Right.” Edward showed him his pass.

“I was running a quick task for Mrs. Green when I saw through the windows on the doors that Bella was hurt.” Edward explained.

He kneeled down next to me and grabbed my hand and helped me sit up. “How exactly did this happen?” he asked cracking a smile.

“I’ll explain later. Which one of the Edwards I see is going to take me to the nurse’s office?” I asked stupidly. I was feeling loopy; I felt way out of it. I could see four beutiful Edward’s at once- what a dream come true.

“Are you sure you’re okay? There is only one Edward, you’re looking at him.” He asked.

“Umm, ya I am okayzz. I think. Where am I?” I asked dumbly once again. I couldn’t tell where I was or why I was slurring my words.

“You’re in the gym, Bella. I’m going to pick you up now.” Edward informed me.

I sighed. “Kay.”

“Very well, Mr. Cullen go ahead and take Ms. Swan to the nurse’s office. She seems-out of it. Possibly crazy. Just go take her and soon. Then please return to Mrs. Green’s room.” Couch Clapp ordered.

“Yes sir.” Edward nodded as, in a swift movement, he turned on his heel. He carried me in his arms and out the door.

“Bella are you sure you’re okay? The other students thought you finally cracked.”

“I don’t know if I’m ok. Give me a sec.” I tried snapping out of it. I shook my head. There was now a massive head ach, but my double vision went away.

“Yes, my head hurts, but I am okay.” I informed him.

“Good. I thought I might have to take you to the hospital.”

“No, no. I’m good now. The double vision is gone and apparently the slurring words and loopyness is too.”

“Alright. Good.” He smiled down at me.

“Ah, a clean getaway. I thought it was never possible.” I joked, suddenly remembering how I got out of gym. My head was feeling a bit better.

“Ha, yes. But didn’t you already figure out, anything is possible. Let’s get you home. Let me go talk to the nurse really quick and we will get you out of here.” He said as he opened the nurse’s office doors.

I quickly breathed in the scent of him in order to not get a big whiff of rubbing alcohol. I heard mummer of words and already we were out of the nurse’s office.

“That was fast.” I said as we were getting into his car.

“Apparently you’re not the only one that I ‘dazzle’; it really is amazing what I can do to get out of school and such-quite an advantage actually.” He smiled at me.

“Do you have aspirin at home Bella?” he asked me.

I nodded slowly. We were already pulled up to the house. When I looked up I noticed 3 things- first Edward looked really mad, second Charlie’s cruiser was in the driveway already, and third Jacob Blacks car was parked in my driveway as well. I gasped.

“Edward, just calm down.” Having Jake and Edward in the same room was a horrible experience.

He took a deep breath. “You’re going to have a bigger headache once you hear what all three are planning to do. I’m sorry Bella, I would stay with you but I don’t think now is such a good idea. I will walk with you to the door, quickly explain to Charlie why you are home early, then leave. I’ll come by later tonight because chances are you are going to be angry. And Bella, don’t listen to a word any of them say.” His eyes were cold and he stared at the house.

“By three, I’m guessing you mean Billy, Jake, and Charlie?” I asked. He nodded slowly.

“Okay. I won’t listen. I love you, Edward.” I smiled weakly. He looked at me and smiled too, “I love you too. Try and get through this Bella, you haven’t seen the last yelling from Charlie yet.”

“Oh, no.” I whispered. I was suddenly afraid of what was ahead of me.

“Come on.” He said asking for my hand to get me out of the car. I took it. I felt weaker in the knees then before. He put his arm around me for my support. He walked with me to the door. I opened it and we both stepped in. There was Billy, Jacob, and Charlie talking around the kitchen table. They all looked up at me.

“Bella, why are you home early?” Charlie asked me. He eyed Edward.

“I was going to ask you the same thing.” I said. Edward spoke quickly to avoid any yelling between father and daughter.

“Sir, Bella had an incident in gym. A volley ball hit her on the head. I believe she has a minor concussion, she should probably take some aspirin- that is what the nurse said.” Edward explained to Charlie. He lied just a bit to say that we went to the nurse-which in a way we did. It would probably go over smoother with Charlie that way.

“Okay. Only you Bella…… Edward you should probably go home.” Charlie said.

Edward looked a little ticked but he composed himself. “Yes sir.” he quickly kissed me on the cheek and went to shut the door behind him.

I turned unwillingly to the table of three. It was the first time I saw Jake in months. He had gotten a little taller, if that was even possible. Billy’s ancient eyes stared intently back at me. Jake had been shuddering a little when Edward was in the house- but managed to control it. It looks as though he had been practicing with that.

“Jacob, Billy.” I said nodding to them. My face was hard, I wasn’t about to let whatever they were doing get away without a fight. They both nodded back, their expressions the same.

“Look, dad. Before we begin talking”, my voice made it evident that we weren’t going to be talking, but yelling, “I need to go get some aspirin, for my head.” I explained.

I didn’t wait for him to respond, I went upstairs-my knees didn’t feel weak anymore, they were strong. I was going to get through this, and win my case.

I grabbed to aspirin and a glass of water from the bathroom and went down stairs with them. I set the aspirin and the glass of water on the table and waited for the fight to begin.

Not once did I try to look at Jake, but it was hard to resist.

“Bella, we need to talk about the major decision you made a couple of weeks ago.” Charlie started off. I cut him before he started anymore nonsense.

“Oh, here it goes. What is there to talk about, that goes for all of you three. It’s my life, and I can do what I want. There’s no need to be meddlesome- it wasn’t any of your decisions to marry Edward, was it? No, it wasn’t.” I said glaring at all of them.

“I’m disgusted.” I said a little bit more quietly.

“I have a strong feeling I will be needing more of these.” I muttered as I picked up my aspirins. plopped them in my mouth and swallowed them with water. I set the glass down hard. Charlie jumped. He could see I was getting hostel-good that was the kind of impression I wanted.

“Bella, calm down. We just needed to talk about this calmly and rationally. This is a big step in your life and you don’t want to make the same bad decision of marrying early like I did.”

“Bella, Charlie is right. You need to think this over. It’s not safe.” I gawked at Billy, how can he say it was not safe to be around Edward, and to give a hint to Charlie on what he was.

“What do you mean it’s not safe?” I hissed.

“Bella.” Charlie warned.

“You know exactly what I mean.” He whispered.

“Dad, you really don’t believe in those stupid old nonsense superstations do you?” I asked Charlie.

“I don’t think so, but I really don’t know what to think of anymore.”

“Can we just get to the point here?” I asked them.

Charlie sighed. “Bella, we all don’t think you should marry Edward.”

That’s it. I couldn’t take it anymore. How dare they. How dare the blacks just walk into my house and tell me what I should and shouldn’t do who I should marry and shouldn’t marry? There was no way to describe what I felt right now. I flew into furry.

“How dare you? How dare all of you. I won’t listen to you; I hope you all know that. What is this, some type of an army??? What, you think teaming up against me will make me realize that I made a horrible mistake or some type of nonsense like that?” I yelled.

“Bella.” Charlie warned again.

“Don’t Bella me again.” I warned back.

“Now wait a minute young lady-”

“You’re wrong. I am at the legal age of adult hood.” I stated.

“Either way-”

Billy cleared his throat. “Maybe, it’s time for us to go. We said what we needed to say.” Billy said as Jake wheeled him to the door.

“wait.” I yelled back to them. Jake turned around.

“I need to talk to you Jake.” I whispered. He nodded sharply and Charlie wheeled Billy out to the car.

“I’m here, so talk.” Jake said.

“Why the hell did you come?”

“Your dad. And for you.” He answered sharply.

“Wait, my dad? I’ll deal with him later. I’m not a child anymore; I don’t need to be protected. And I don’t need you to go giving hints to Charlie about Edward.” I hissed.

“Don’t you think that maybe he has the right to know?”

“No. I don’t. Just go, if that was all you came here for. I don’t know how you could do this to me. Things apparently change.”

“Apparently. And gladly, I’m going right now. And that’s okay, you don’t need forgive me. Goodbye Bella.”

His words stung- and they hurt vary badly. It was like he put a small little Jacob hole in my heart, and it was empty at the moment. I had to be strong though- I still have to deal with Charlie.

Charlie came in the door and shut it to face me. “That didn’t work as planned.” He muttered.

“Ha, what did you expect? And how do they know?” I asked gesturing to the front yard. Surely gossip didn’t reach all the way to la push, hopefully.

“I was mad, when you told me.”

“That much I could figure out.”

He sat down on the couch and faced me.

“I was mad and I needed to talk to somebody, so I called Billy. We made an arrangement to talk you out of it, which was tonight. Let me tell you, he was shocked and as appalled as I was.”

I raised my voice again. “So what? And I still cannot believe you tried to pull this stunt- I know better though. AND, ARGG WHY DID YOU HAVE TO CALL BILLY AND JAKE?” I screamed. I was so frustrated right now I probably looked as though I would slap somebody.

“I can do whatever I want- it’s a free country.” I yelled as I turned my back at him and ran upstairs to my room. I slammed the door and slumped on my bed sobbing.

“Shhh, you handled it pretty well.” I heard Edward whisper in my ear. The window was open and I felt cool arms around me.

“Ha, please.” I cried.

“Shhh, better than I would.” He said trying to calm me down.

I nodded and buried my head in his chest, sobbing almost the whole entire night. Edward sang my lullaby- and soon I fell asleep.
