7. The Perfect Dress

Rating 5/5   Word Count 1091   Review this Chapter

It was 3 weeks since Charlie and my first dance lessons with Edward and Alice. And finally yesterday was the last one-thank god. I think we both have gotten a lot better. Now Charlie doesn’t even mess up; which was a huge step in the right direction for him.

It was a Saturday-and I somehow knew what was coming. I was dreading it since the day I said yes to marry Edward-finding a wedding dress. I was just hoping that it wouldn’t be today.

I have seen it on TV and heard about it from others as well. It’s a living hell, pure torture, to have to pick out a wedding dress. Everyone says that once you try about 50 or more on you will always know which ones the one. The perfect dress-vastly over rated.

“Bella, fair warning. Alice was defiantly thinking of shopping today. She claims that today is ‘a girl’s day out’. I just thought I should warn you.” Edward said smiling as I was eating my breakfast. Charlie was gone, like always. I swear-90% of the time he is at the police station.

I groaned. Today was the day I would have to try on millions and millions of cream and white (or any other color, knowing Alice) dresses. I was sure of it.

“Jeez, thanks!” I said sarcastically. I groaned.

“Have fun- she will be here in….” he didn’t have to finish his sentence before Alice and Rosalie burst through the door.

“BELLA!” Alice was in full shopping mode-it was obvious.

I stepped back fearfully and wide eyed. Alice was squealing, jumping up and down, and carrying her purse-no doubt filled with money for today’s little adventure. All of the symptoms of shopping frenzy.

“Alice, let’s take this calmly and rationally. Okay-deep breaths.” I tried calming her. She took some deep breaths and narrowed it down to a smile.

“Sorry. So before we begin- Edward, you have to say goodbye to your fiancé-we need to start our girl’s day out.” Alice explained. Edward turned to me. “Goodbye, love. Remember, have fun!” Edward tried to attempt to encourage me. It didn’t work.

I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, bye. Thanks so much.” I said sarcastically once more. He rolled his eyes back and took off towards his car.

Now I have no one to protect me from Alice and Rosalie. Oh, this will be an interesting day…..

“Bella, come on!” Alice said as she dragged me into the bridal store. I, of course, was right about the wedding gowns. I looked around the store; millions and millions of dresses that were white a cream, some purple, red, peach, and then there was brides maid dresses. Here it is-my own personal hell on earth. What did I do to deserve this?

Come on.” Alice urged again. Rosalie was off looking at a wedding dress her size.

“Rosalie,” Alice snapped as she turned her head to her, “we are looking for Bella’s wedding dress, not yours.” She said. Rosalie took one last look at the one she was holding and put it back down on a rack with a sigh.

Now Alice turned to me. I was trying not to go in any further. My feet were dragging-I was doing anything to not spend time in this store.

“You listen to me, and listen well.” She warned. I gulped and knew what was coming.

“This can be easy or this can be hard. You are going to have to pick a wedding dress. This wedding is fairly large and fancy. I will do everything in my power to make sure you look perfect on that day-there is no way you are going down the aisle in jeans and a t-shirt. Got it?” she asked. She was serious. I suppressed a sigh.

“Got it.” I nodded weakly. The smile and happiness was back on her face.

“I knew you would.” She said happily as she led me over to some gowns. She piled a bunch up in her arms and my arms and Rosalie’s.

“I’m not trying all of these on will I?” I asked fearfully as we headed over to the dressing rooms.

“No, I know which one you need, but what fun would that be? You need to have the wedding dress experience.” She insisted.

“Whoa, you mean all of that trying on stuff can be avoided? Alice, tell me which one I will pick!” I begged her. Maybe we could be in and out of the store-but I knew better. I shouldn’t let my hopes get up so quickly.

“Sorry, Bella. But it’s all part of the experience.” She said. I rolled my eyes.

It felt like years. All of the cream and white (thankfully those were the only colors besides a blue one Alice threw in) of the dresses that I had to try on. But all of them started looking the same.

If it was true about a bride knowing when the wedding dress was ‘right’ then I haven’t found one yet.

“Alice,” I complained as she helped me take another white dress off, “I haven’t found it yet.” I said to her. She nodded. “I know.”

“Can you just show me the dress and be done with it?” I asked. She smiled.

Rosalie came in with a beautiful cream dress in her hands. It was rather vintage on top-it was a halter and came down to a v shape at my waist. The skirt was unbelievable. The most gorges thing I have ever seen, as far as clothing goes.

“Alice.” I gasped. This was the one-it had to be. I got it on quickly and looked in the mirror. “this is it!” I exclaimed. Alice nodded and smiled and Rosalie fixed something on the skirt.

“Bella, you look wonderful.” Rosalie murmured.

Alice nodded in agreement.

“Now, shall we buy this and brides maid dresses and get out of here?” she asked me.

“yes.” I said in a exasperated tone. They both nodded.

Four hours in that ridicules bridal store paid off. We walked out with my wedding dress, and two bride’s maid dresses. They were already fitted because Rosalie and Alice were here with me. The bride’s maid dresses were a deep red. They had a deep v neck in front and in back. They had a bow around the waist too.

“Well, that was a fun shopping day. Don’t you think, Bella?” Alice asked as we drove off.

“The best.” I nodded in agreement, half serious and half sarcastic.
