A Familiar Matter

Well, It's basically what I would like to happen in Breaking Dawn. In it, we meet a new character; Leslie Harpur, the daughter of Renee's mysterious and tragically demised twin sister, Estelle. She comes to Forks with Bella's mother to attend the wedding. Interesting things occur in the time following...

This is for my best friends and fellow Twilight obsessees, Helen, Lexhen and Hilary. I'm inspired! P.S. I wish I'd thought up Bella and Edward and everyone else. but I didn't :-(

“Shhh! Shhh! Bella, its okay, Bella! It’s only me. Shhh!” Edward shouted, before bending down to stop my shrieks with his mouth.

I quietened instantly. The feel of his icy lips on mine made it rather difficult to think straight, let alone be afraid.

The second he let go of me, rather sooner than I would’ve liked, I hit him, as hard as I dared. I didn’t want another broken hand experience…

“Ow.” He pouted, rubbing his arm, though I knew full well it’d hurt me more than him. I glared at him, my arms once again folded stubbornly across my chest.

“What was that for?”

“You know full well what it was for! You are absolutely determined to give me a heart attack aren’t you?” He gazed at me, his golden eyes wide and earnest.

“But I didn’t do anything!” I folded my arms and glared at him. I was determined to stay mad at him, but he always had to make it more difficult – he pulled me into a hug, and I nestled into his embrace, clutching his shirt tightly whilst trying to calm my frantic pulse.

We stood silently for a moment, until my pulse slowed and my heart stopped trying to jump out of my chest. Eventually, Edward sighed and I stepped back to look up at his face.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.“Alice said that Charlie will be arriving back at the house in about five minutes, and if you aren’t there, he’s going to phone Carlisle and demand that we return you immediately.”

He smiled at me lovingly, and brushed my face gently with his hand.

“Oh…” I replied, trying to remain coherent as his hand was replaced by his lips. “Umm… perhaps I should go home then…”

I regretted the words the second they were out of my mouth. I didn’t want to go home – in fact, the Cullen’s house was more home to me than anywhere else, simply because it was where Edward lived.

I regretted thinking that too (It sounded pitiful even in my own head!) but Edward helped me onto his back, and we were soon flying through the trees, up the silent driveway any through the ever-open window.

He deposited me gently on the bed. I raised one eyebrow sternly.

“And what will Charlie think when he finds the door is locked from the outside yet I'm inside?” He rolled his eyes and disappeared, only to return a few seconds later, through my bedroom door.

“Happy now?” he asked grumpily, slumping on the bed beside me.

“I'm not exactly going to be happy whilst my better half is being that grumpy…” I hinted, taking one of his hands in mine. He grinned up at me, before brushing his lips against mine. My heart sped up, as usual.

“I'm not so sure about better half…” He mumbled, stroking my hair gently. I groaned and rolled my eyes. So he was in that kind of mood…

“Looks like I'm going to have to tamper with your memory” I quoted, grinning. His eyebrow shot up, but he played along;

“Tamper with my memory?”

“Something like that…” I caressed his face, before curling myself up into his lap. I wasn’t sure that it would work, but he held me close, and kissed my hair.

“What did I do to deserve such beauty in my life? You say I do have a soul, and it’s times like this when I really believe it. I must’ve done something right; after all, I got you…”

“Exactly! I'm glad you finally understand where I'm coming from. And besides…” I hesitated, not wanting to send him back into his depression. He looked down at me, waiting.

“Besides what?” He asked, once again frustrated that he couldn’t read my mind.

“Besides, it’s me that doesn’t deserve you.” He sighed, and rolled his eyes, but he didn’t look annoyed, for which I was grateful.

“Don’t let’s start this again Bella. You are the most, beautiful, perfect, marvellously angelic creature ever to walk the Earth.”

“Creature? You make me sound like some kind of lizard…”

“Well, I could’ve said thing; would that be preferable?” I grimaced. He chuckled.

He was still laughing when my phone, a shiny black sliver of a thing, rang. He grinned at me in disbelief when he heard my ringtone; ‘Angel’, By Leona Lewis.

“What?” I shrugged. “It reminded me of you.”

“Where did you hear this? I thought she was a British artist…”

“She is. What, is it illegal to like British music?” I asked, reaching over to answer the phone before the person on the other end hung up.

“Hello?” I asked. I was surprised by the voice on the other end.

“Hey, Bella?”

“Who is this?” I asked, although I had a pretty good idea… I only knew one person who spoke in an English accent…

“Well duh, how many Brits do you have on speed dial?” She replied sarcastically.

“So much for her changing in ten years” I muttered to Edward. “What do you want Leslie? And how did you get this number?”

“Well duh, Aunt Renee gave it me” I grimaced again. I was beginning to hate English accents…
