A Familiar Matter

Summary:
Well, It's basically what I would like to happen in Breaking Dawn. In it, we meet a new character; Leslie Harpur, the daughter of Renee's mysterious and tragically demised twin sister, Estelle. She comes to Forks with Bella's mother to attend the wedding. Interesting things occur in the time following...

Notes:
This is for my best friends and fellow Twilight obsessees, Helen, Lexhen and Hilary. I'm inspired! P.S. I wish I'd thought up Bella and Edward and everyone else. but I didn't :-(

“So, what do you want?” I repeated, exasperated.

“Well sorry, m’am, I just wondered if my dear cousin wanted to meet up, you know, catch up before the wedding sort of thing?” Then, quieter, so quiet I might’ve imagined it: “I – missed you.” I sighed; I couldn’t stay mad at Leslie for long. She was like the baby sister I never had.

“You can even bring your fiancé if you want?” She added, sheepishly, and I knew she was sorry she’d been rude earlier.

“Sure Leslie, I’d love to meet up. Where are you?”

“Seattle.”

“You’re here already? Is my mum there?”

“No, she had some stuff to do, but I'm staying here temporarily with a friend of mine, just ‘till aunt Renee arrives.”

“Okay, how about if we meet up Saturday?” I suggested slyly. Edward caught my trick easily.

“Bella love, you know I'm not going to be here Saturday right? I'm going hunting with Emmet and Jasper…”

“Oh! Is he there now? Isabella Marie Swan, what would your mother say?” Squealed Leslie excitedly.

“Yes Edward, I know. I was thinking maybe Alice could come instead…” I answered him sweetly.

“Who’s Alice?” asked Leslie. She sounded slightly high, a comment I voiced in my reply:

“Alice is Edward’s sister, she’s really nice, I'm sure you’ll love her. My mother wouldn’t care that Edward’s here as we’re not doing anything we’re not allowed to, and Leslie, answer me truthfully, are you on drugs?” Edward burst out laughing, almost hysterically.

“Edward? Are you on drugs?” He shook his head through the giggles.

“Jas-per” He managed to gasp. “Thinks it’s really – funny.”

“Well Jasper,” I shouted, conveniently forgetting that vampires have super hearing and I didn’t need to shout, “It’s not that funny, so stop messing with Edward’s emotions and let him regain control so I can talk to him normally.”

Leslie started shrieking in my ear: “Messing with Edward’s emotions? Bella, are you on drugs? I mean, It’s ok if you are, I won’t tell Renee or anything, but I think you should get some help, drugs can really damage your mental and physical health, I mean, there was this girl at my school who took ecstasy, just once, but she didn’t know the risks, so she got really dehydrated, and died, so you know, you should really try to get yourself clean, if not for yourself, then for Renee. And if Edward, is it? Edward is the one giving you the drugs then you should be careful that he has your best interests at heart; I mean, you wouldn’t want to marry him if he’s the one helping you risk your life for a quick high…” She trailed off, and I could tell she was really worried, but I couldn’t help laughing, even without Jasper’s emotional kick-start.

The thought of Edward as a drug dealer – well, it was just so goddamn funny
