“Rosalie, please.”

“No! We deserve to know what’s going on. Just because you have a special talent doesn’t mean you are better than the rest of us.” Rose spat at me in her nasty tone of voice. Emmet tried to take her hand but she shook it away. “No Em, I want to know what’s going on! Well, Alice?”

“Rose, stop it!” Jasper stared callously at her, grasping at my hand. “This apparently isn’t a good thing and we don’t need to aggravate her even more by doing this!” He clutched even firmer to my hand and took a fleeting look at Carlisle beside Emmet. “But Alice, maybe Carlisle could tell us, he seems to know what is going on.”

I took a step backward and positioned myself in one of the ample and pitiful chairs that festooned themselves along the wall. My siblings followed me promptly. The three of them looked up at Carlisle with anticipation. He looked nervous and jittery, exactly how I felt. I had never seen Carlisle like this so the danger must not have just been in my head.

“Well, I only have a short period of time. I will talk quickly so try and refrain yourselves from interrupting. I suppose you have all heard of Bella Swan.” He didn’t even wait for us to nod before he continued. “She smells particularly good to Edward, if he stays here any longer, he will have to kill her. Edward took my Mercedes and is traveling to be with Tanya’s family for a while. Now,” he alleged while looking at his watch. “I must get to the surgery. I’ll see you at home” With that he meandered out the door.

As soon as he was out the door three pairs of wide eyes turned my way. “Why doesn’t he just kill the girl? It would be better than separating our family.” Jasper asked and I knew his “experience” from the south was talking and not him, my loving and caring husband.

“Jas- it was his descion. We’d better get home now, Esme will be wondering where we are.” I started to walk out the door but I saw Rosalie looking at me with a funny look on her face. “Oh, and Rose? We don’t care about your problems right now. I don’t care if you have a hang nail or a split end.” I thought for a moment. “Or both.”

The four of us started walking towards the exit when my cell phone vibrated through my purse. I hastily grabbed it, hopping it was Edward. It was Esme.

“Where are you? Did you decide to go hunting again? Did Jasper need to? What’s going on?” Our loving mother’s voice rang out into the hall and Emmet snatched it from me quickly.

“Mom- it’s all right. We were just at the hospital but now we’re coming home.”

“Where’s Edward? I called his cell phone which he always has on, unless he’s hunting. Is he with you? Let me speak to him!”

“Mom, there’s something we need to tell you.” Rosalie’s voice tinkled like a bell. Jasper grabbed the phone from her and hastily explained the situation.

“You four had better come home then.”

Jasper slammed my phone shut and thrust it at me. The four of us swiftly made our way past Mrs. Crowley not wanting to give her a chance to start another conversation. Not one of us could believe what Edward had done, it was beyond weird. I had felt the lust in my vision, but he would never, never, in his right mind bite the girl. Was this the only solution? This separated our family and why? For a human, a human!
