I jump.

The wind rushes up to meet me,

My only friend remaining,

But even it can't support me.

I fall.

Hadn't somebody else fallen?

Esme had. But she was different.

She had a happy ending.

Mine...was the ocean.

I land.

The water surrounds me

frothy, foamy,

hugging me and holding me close

it was cold...like his arms.

His frozen arms, saying goodbye.

And then...the arms are real.

But they are not cold.
