I sat at First Beach, on the tangled roots of the tree Bella and I sat together on so many times, and thought. Since I found out that Bella was marrying that bloodsucker I came here often; to try to hold onto those memories that we both shared here, the good and the bad. I was glad to have had all that time with Bella, even if, in the end, she had chosen him.

I could feel my body starting to tremble and quickly changed my train of thoughts towards the pack.

Everything had been going fine after that red-head leech was killed. We went back to our daily runs and I found myself hanging out at Emily’s more. We still shared each others thoughts; Sam’s about his love for Emily and his sadness for Leah, those who had imprinted, the people they loved, and then there were Leah’s thoughts.

I was actually starting to warm up to Leah now. Her thoughts towards me had become nicer ever since Bella choose Edward. I snarled as I thought the name and another tremor ripped through my body.

Should Have Been Different But
It Wasn't Different, Was It
Same Old Story, Dear John, And So Long
Should Have Fit Like A Glove
Should Have Fit Like A Ring
Like A Diamond Ring
A Token Of True Love
Should Have All Worked Out
But It Didn't
She Should Be Here Now
But She Isn't

I stood up in shock. Someone was singing in the forest… and they had such a nice voice!

I hesitantly stepped forward, unsure of what was happening.

“Ah… hello?” I called out cautiously. The voice started singing again. I listened closely to the lyrics this time.

There's Your Trouble, There's Your Trouble
You Keep Seeing Double With The Wrong One
You Can't See I Love You, You Can't See She Doesn't
But You Just Keep Holding On
There's Your Trouble

Oh-o – not good. Was this some kind of a joke? It sounded as if the song was directed to me, but that had to mean that whoever was singing knew about Bella getting married, and I hadn’t told anyone. Well except the pack.

I growled, resisting the urge to phase and attack whoever was in there singing. I was sure it was someone from the pack. They are the only ones who would know… besides the bloodsuckers, but they weren’t allowed here.

So Now You're Thinking 'Bout
All You're Missing -- How
Deep You're Sinking, Round And Round And Dragging Down
Why Don't You Cash In Your Chips
Why Don't You Call It A Loss
Not Such A Big Loss, Chalk It Up Better Luck

What did they mean it wasn’t a big loss? Bella was a big loss – one that left me incomplete. That got me really angry.

Could Have Been True Love
But It Wasn't
It Should All Add Up
But It Doesn't

I listened closely to the lyrics again, trying to pick out the words. Whoever was singing it was singing it in a country style, making my task kind of harder then I wanted it to be.

There's Your Trouble, There's Your Trouble
You Keep Seeing Double With The Wrong One
You Can't See I Love You, You Can't See She Doesn't
But You Just Keep Holding On
There's Your Trouble

Ok, I think I got it. There’s your trouble, you keep seeing yourself with the wrong one. You can’t see I love you, you can’t – hold on. You can’t see I love you? But if I am right in assuming that it is someone from the pack, that would mean it would have to be…

“Leah?”

No response. Not unless you counted more singing.

Should Have All Worked Out
But It Didn't
She Should Be Here Now
But She Isn't

I forgot about what the lyrics meant and tried to focus on why Leah would be doing this. Either she was trying to make me feel better or else she was just tormenting me.

And there was always the option that maybe she did love me. Maybe that’s why her thoughts had been so guarded whenever we phased? I quickly shook these thoughts from my head as the singing started again. She really did have a nice voice. I couldn’t believe I had never noticed it before… but then again, I had never heard her sing.

There's Your Trouble, There's Your Trouble
You Keep Seeing Double With The Wrong One
You Can't See I Love You, You Can't See She Doesn't
But You Just Keep Holding On
There's Your Trouble

There's Your Trouble

The singing stopped.

I cautiously approached the forest; I didn’t want to scare her away. Well that was if it was Leah and if she hadn’t already left. I pushed back a few low branches that were in my way and searched for anything that would tell me where she was. I got it – a noise. It sounded like she was crying.

“Leah?” I asked again. The crying stopped but I could still hear her deep breathing.

I walked softly over to where the noises were coming from – a big driftwood tree – and found her leaning against it, head in hands. I knelt down in front of her and as I put my hand on her shoulder, she looked up, startled.

Her eyes were tinged red from crying and I suddenly felt a strong surge of sympathy for her. I did what anyone in my position would do. I pulled her close and hugged her tightly and I knew, the moment I touched her, that this could go somewhere. It mightn’t have been as strong as the connection I felt with Bella, but it was defiantly something. I pulled back and smiled at her, gently wiping the tears from her cheeks with my thumb.
