So she said "What's the problem baby?" What's the problem? I don't know Well, maybe I'm in love I think about it every time I think about it Can't stop thinking 'bout it Hello- My name is Jacob Black. It was Jacob Black, for animals do not own names. I have a story. But you won't like it, for it is sad and I have heard that people are fond of happy stories nowadays. Sometimes I wonder what life would have been life if I had never met her. But I quickly dispel that thought because life without love is not worth living. Technically, I should not have ever loved her. She was a daughter of my Enemy and a child of Once Loved. Yet, I did love her and it is too late to change any of that. I think I am dying. I place my pen to the paper one last time...

Chapter 5: Leo

"We're going to ride across that?"

"Yep!" Ally's happy go-lucky voice sounded out of place amongst the icy Alaskan air.

"You're kidding me! There's no way that that ice can hold our bikes!"

"Calm down, worrywart. We're only going about halfway."

"The ice is too thin!"

"Chicken,"

"No!"

"Gawk! Bawk-Bawk-Bawk!" Then she preceded to strut around the ice, squawking. "Chicken! Chick-chick-chicken!"

We bust out laughing, rolled into a snow heap. Ally shook herself off, still snickering.

"You can swim, right?" She asked,

"Naturally, have you seen a dog that couldn't?"

"Mutt!"

"Leech!" Then we had another giggle attack. "Still I don't think that we should ride on that water."

"It's ice, if it breaks then swim out."

"You're making fun, right?"

"Nope!" Ally said, popping her lips on the ‘P'. "Let's go!" She gunned her engine, and sped off across the river. "Watch out for drops, the ice will slip and pull you under."

"What?" But she was already half way there. I carefully wove my way around the darker patches, making very slow progress. A large solid-looking area was ahead, I started for it.

***

The Filly River is one of the most dangerous river in the world. With it's perilous rapids, and sudden waterfalls, and icy waters, it is a death wish for anyone who even thinks of going swimming. Which Jacob Black just found out.

***

."Ahh-" My scream was cutoff as the dark waters of the underworld pulled me under. I struggled against the never-stopping flow of water. Trying not to think about the frosty river that was pulling me deeper, and deeper. I pushed the think ice, attempting to break though. My human body wasn't strong enough. I summoned up the last bit of my strength to phase.

Jake? Is that you?

Emery? I had forgotten about the pack, the current pulled me deeper.

Jacob Black! What's happening?

He sounded so worried, the fool. Didn't he guess I was dying.

Jake! I'm going, don't let the blood-sucker kill you! Fight back!

A ghost of a smile flirted across my face as I passed into unconscious I felt the current tuck me under it's arm and pull me into the deeps of the ocean. My lung could stand it no longer, I opened my mouth and took a breath of... Air? I was so sure I was sinking. Gasp, gasp, gasp, I drew breath after breath in, inflating my sore lungs.

"By God you stink! Worse then a wet dog! I thought you said you could swim." Only an angel would sound so sweet. That meant the air wasn't real, I was breathing water. That means I was dead. Crap, crap, crap, this was going to kill the pack. At least I didn't suffer, I thought I had a pretty good life. I had imprinted, that was good, right? But still? I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm dead.

"Damn it Jake! You're not dead! Stop thinking that!"

She could read my mind? Dang, it was hard enough with Edward.

"Only snatches, I can't actually read all your thinking. Just flickers, it's easier to ‘read' when you're an animal so you might want to phase back. You could start thinking things you don't want me to know." Sam couldn't have phased faster.

"Thank you!" I ran forward and wrapped my hands around her, "Thank you so very much!"

Cough,

"Sorry!" I began to notice my predicament, "I'm so sorry!" Great Jake, you probably just scared her away. Could you not have remembered to bring some extra clothes.

"It's fine, don't worry about it." Ally fished around in her bag, "I think I have a towel in here somewhere. Ha!"

***

Slowly, we making our way back to the Cullen's. Ally in her poodle skirt, I in a tablecloth.

With a huff, Ally plopped down. "I'm staving, lets take a break and eat."

"Wait, you eat food?"

"Very, very rare food." Then she laughed a tinkling sound, which rang in the air. I smiled.

"How rare?"

"Shut up! Sorry, but unless you have a match, you'll only get carrots."

"Goodie."

"Joking!" Ally began to pull out a variety of things, "Mom said you ate a lot."

I froze, staring at the bundle of things, "Even I don't eat that much!"

***

Ally tore into the meat, blood dripping down her chin. I watched with a slight disgust. Ally looked up.

"Oh, Jake! I'm sorry," She got a mischievous look in her eye, "Unless you want me to me go hunt?"

"Ugg! No!" I bent his head, "Sorry, it just repulses me too see that.." Ally wiped off the blood with the palm of her hand.

"Yea, but is better then actually drinking blood. Right?" I gave her a weak smile,

"Sure, sure."

She showed more teeth, "Thirsty?"

"No! That's discussing!"

Oink, a grunt came from inside the basket, oink. Ally opened the bag, and pulled out a large, fat, pot-bellied pig.

"Who's that?" I asked.

"Pork."

"What!" I grabbed the pig and swung it behind me. I turned back to her and bared my teeth.

"That sickening! You can't just murder these poor creature!" Ally blink twice and bust out laughing,

"Murder- eat- Buffy- Ha!" I pouted, all the giggling isn't very good for my moral.

"Get real! People just don't carry there lunch, live!

"One second-" Ally hooted, "Pig is a pet! Friends not food!" Then her cackling began all over again.

"Wait this is your pet?"

"Yea! His name is Buffy!" I snorted, joining in with her laughter.

"Buffy? Seems appropriate,"

"I know."

I had to change the subject,

"So, umm.. Well, as you know I imprinted on you."

"No! Don't you dare start that again. We are two completely different people. There is no way we could ever get together! I'm ice, you're fire! Heat and chill, icy, sweltering! "

"Sweltering Ice, I like that..."

"Ugg! Don't you understand!"

"But I'm in love with you!"

Ally froze, and began to ponder this.

"What?" She finally asked, "Is the difference between love, and hate? The change between truth and lies?"

"Everything!" I remarked,

"Prove it."

"When you stir hot ashes, you cause a fire."

"But eventually it goes back to ashes," Ally held her face in her hands and rocked back and

forth. "Always fire to ashes."

"It doesn't have to be like that." I took her face in my hand and kissed her.
