I looked up at Edward’s light golden eyes. He tilted his head downward so his lips were at by ear, just barely brushing them. “Bella, I really would appreciate it if you’d make an effort not to get hurt. It really pains me when you get in such accidents.”

I scowled. “Okay, okay.” I grumbled, crossing my arms over my chest. “What happened to the other car? The other person, are they okay?”

Edward exhaled deeply. “Their car, it hit your truck right on. The driver’s head hit the steering wheel. They passed out, Carlisle says he’ll be okay though. Luckily, there were no others in the car.” Edward paused before continuing. “Bella, don’t blame yourself if they don’t recover. This wasn’t your fault.”

I closed my eyes. It was my fault. I wasn’t paying attention to what was going on around me. I would’ve seen the car and stopped if I had been paying attention. Now somebody may have to pay their own life for my mistake. I decided not to tell Edward my thoughts. It would just depress both of us if I did.

“Alright." I whispered.

The sound of an opening door interrupted both of us. I looked over to find the source of the sound. It was Carlisle, just coming inside. He had a clipboard in his hand and a pen tucked neatly behind his ear.

“Alright Bella, you’re all good.” Carlisle announced, his eyes on his paper.

“Come on,” Edward said. “Let’s get going.” He carefully lifted my delicate body off of him and placed my feet on the floor.

I nodded and weaved my fingers into his. Without saying anything, we passed by Carlisle and headed toward the door. I could feel Carlisle’s eyes burning into my back as we exited the room.

Right outside the room was a large lobby, which was, no surprise, filled with a bunch of jumpy, huge, Quilete kids. I recognized Embry and Quil immediately, lounging around in two seats closest to me. Sam was sitting farther off, in the corner of the room. One of his hands was in Emily’s, who was sitting next to him, and the other was rubbing his temples. The others, Leah, Paul, Seth, and a few more, were there also, sitting around in the lobby seats.

“Bella!” Someone yelled. I instantly knew the voice belonged to Jacob. I looked over to where he was standing next to the girl I’d seen him with earlier, before…

“Bella, are you all right. Tell us what happened. Tell us everything.” He said as he hurried over the where Edward and I stood, hand in hand.

I sighed, it was going to be a long story. “Well, Carlisle said I broke my wrist.” I indicated to the chunky black cast on my left wrist, which had been put on when I was passed out. “I have some cuts and bruises on the left side of my body, but hey, I’m all in one piece.”

Jacob smiled. “Thank god.” He paused, a confused look spread across his face. “Why were you there anyway?”

“I was just there to grab a quick smoothie. I wasn’t paying attention when I was driving out and…” Edward flinched. “Well… yeah. I was actually on my way to Angela’s.” I paused.

She probably had no idea where I was. I was supposed to meet her hours ago! What if she thought I ditched her? I quickly flipped out my cell phone and punched in Angela’s phone number. I held the phone to my ear.

“Angela has no idea!” I exclaimed as a response to all the confused looks I was getting. As she phone rung, Edward put his hand on my back.

“Tell her I’m taking you over to her house.”

I nodded. Finally after the fourth ring, Angela picked up. “Angela! I’m so sorry I didn’t come. I have a lot to explain. Edward’s taking me over right now!” I said, out of breath by the time I stopped.

“A-alright…” Angela said.

“I’m really sorry Ang, but I gotta go, I’ll see you in a little bit.” I hung up before she had the chance to answer.

Edward, his hand still on my back, started leading me toward the door. “I’m sorry Jacob, and everybody,” I looked at the new girl. “but I really have to go.”

Edward held the door open for me and I walked through. I felt so bad, for everything. I felt bad for getting myself hurt on the one day Edward wanted to see his family. I felt bad for making Angela worried, or mad, or whatever emotion she was feeling when I didn’t show up. I felt bad for leaving everybody behind in the hospital. They were all there, waiting, to see if I was okay, and now, here I was, in the parking lot. Most of all, I felt bad for the other person, the other driver, who may have to pay their life for what I did.

I held back tears as I hopped into Edward’s Volvo. Edward closed the door after I was in and headed around to the other side of the car.

On the way to Angela’s, Edward was strangely quiet, so it surprised me when he finally spoke up.

I turned to face him, his brows were furrowed and he looked like he was concentrating hard on the road. I knew he wasn’t. “Yes?”

Edward’s expression stayed the same, everything about him stayed the same. The only things that moved were his arms in the steering wheel and his lips. “You never told me what happened last night, when you went to La Push.”

I closed my eyes and bit my lip nervously. What a great time to bring up such a subject. Great job, Edward.

“So?” Edward urged.

“All right, all right.” I groaned and turned once again, this time facing away from him. “Jacob sent back the wedding invitation saying he couldn’t go. I went to La Push to go and see him and he… he blamed HIMSELF for…” I paused, I was talking at least five times faster than usual, I just had to get it all out. “Well... he blamed himself for... loving, no liking, me.” I couldn’t say love, it was just too weird.

To my surprise, I heard a low, musical laugh coming from Edward. “Is that it? That’s all?”

I threw a nasty look in Edward’s direction. I’m sure he wasn’t intimidated by it at all.

“Oh, you’re right, I’m sorry. That’s not funny.” He said, a crooked smile still on his perfect face. “But seriously Bella, you shouldn’t let these things bother you. It’s ridiculous.”

Now my problems are just, ridiculous?
