I woke up that next morning having foggy flashbacks about the previous day, all I really remembered was that HE would never be back and that I kissed Jacob. I hope he doesn’t tell the guys at work.

Would he do that? He wouldn’t, he would respect me and not do that. Oh my god he would! Paranoia sunk in and I rushed to get ready and to get to Jacob before he blabbed what happened that night to the guys. I would surely be laughed and snickered at all day in the garage and I would have to hang my head in shame that I was not only the new girl but also an easy one at that.

So there I went walking swiftly across the street as fast but as calmly as I could, I didn’t want him to think I regretted kissing him or anything. I tried to catch my breath on the doorstep before I knocked on the door. I also tried to go through what I wanted to say to him.

Please don’t let tell the guys. I’ll do anything if you didn’t tell the guys. Now that line sounded like I really was easy. I’ll bribe you not to tell them. I filtered through them pacing back and forth like a caged tiger and didn’t even notice that the door opened.

“Can I help you?” Jacob asked a little shocked to see me so early.

“I just wanted to um..” I was dawdling off trying to pick the best line to ask him.

“I’m sorry little girl but I don’t want to buy any cookies” Jacob joked making fun of my stuttering.

“What? No I wanted to ask you Please don’t tell the guys about last night.” Finally the words came flooding out of my mouth.

“Don’t worry about the guys at the shop, but you might want to stay away from Embry then.” Jacob said and winced as he looked at me.

“What!? You told Embry?” I smacked Jacob against the shoulder outraged that he told him.

“I can explain why Embry knows. Remember me telling you about phasing?” Jacob asked walking with me towards the street.

“Well, when we phase our secrets are out for the entire pack to know, also what we are thinking they can hear as well. I swear I didn’t tell him.” He tried to explain and winced again anticipating another smack from me.

“So you didn’t tell him, it was a wolf thing.” I thought out loud and Jacob nodded.

“Please don’t smack me again you might hurt yourself.” Jacob pleaded with me.

“Fine, I guess I can’t be mad at you.” I finally came to terms with and lightly patted his shoulder, “Sorry for smacking you.”

“It’s alright, it’s a normal reaction I get from the guys. Hey want a ride?” He asked walking up to the car.

Once again the day was pretty slow and we finished a little after lunch. I could get used to working here, having only a car or two a day and spending the rest of the time with the guys. They all felt like my older brothers, well all except for one, that would just be gross.

“Monroe, how do you get along so well with all these guys?” Gus asked walking past me.

“Well I do have three older brothers, and they were fun to grow up with. But since they are all grown they moved out I miss them and all the guys just fit the spots of them.” I told him.

“Wouldn’t you get tired of them, I mean they cuss and smell most of the time?” he asked once more.

“Well, I cuss just as much as them, I can put a sailor to shame and I’m pretty clean but I still like them all.” I said looking at the guys ogling over some magazine with a half naked girl as the centerfold, “Just like my brothers.”

Embry eventually grew less interested in the magazine and came over to me, “So, Monroe” he smiled down at me.

“Yeah I know,” I said under my breath and looked down at my feet feeling embarrassed.

“Do you have any girlfriends?” Embry asked not taking in that I was turning a bright red.

“Hun?” I asked looking up at him. He just looked at me like he didn’t even know about Jacob and me.

“Yeah, I’m single and there are not that many girls on the rez, so do you have any girlfriends that are single?” Embry asked once more.

“Um sure, what’s your type?” I brushed off my paranoia and went straight into matchmaker mode.

“Well, I’ll take anything actually. But I do like blondes for some reason.” Embry chuckled at his own comment.

“I have one in mind for you, do you mind if she is outrageous?” I asked scrolling through my cell phone.

“The more outrageous the better!” he practically yelled. That got the attention of the other guys and Jacob made his way over.

“What’s going on?” Jacob asked Embry as I dialed the phone.

“She’s getting me a girl.” Embry boasted, play punching Jacob in the arm.

“Tia, hey sweetie what are you doing this Friday?” I asked on the phone, Embry just smiled as hard as he could and Jacob slapped him upside the head.

“I have a friend you need to meet, you’ll love him.” I smiled at Embry and I think I saw him blush under his dark skin.

“Perfect, well you know my new address so come down around 4 okay?” I confirmed the time and hung up the phone.

“Thank you SO much Monroe.” Embry sighed and took off towards the other guys.

“That was nice of you.” Jacob commemorated me on sliding over next to me.

“I thought that if he had someone to take up his spare time, he would not think about you and me.” I whispered to Jacob.

“That’s a great idea. So what is Friday, anything special?” Jacob asked lightly brushing my elbow.

“I was thinking that we could double, you know as moral support for both parties.” I clarified but winked at him.

He caught what I was sawing and nodded in acceptance and once again brushed his finger across my arm, quickly before the other guys saw.
