Rating 4.5/5 Word Count 978 Review this Chapter
Emmett, Jasper, Rosalie, and I followed Edward to they admissions building. I did not need Jaspers power to tell he was in agony about returning to Forks. Bella had been my best friend and after her funeral I curled up into a ball with Edward and was just starting to come out. The admission’s women stared open mouthed at us, and the look on Edward’s face told me she was not thinking nice thoughts about our family.
“Be nice Edward,” I shot at him.
He gave me an exasperated look and politely addressed the women, “Edward, Alice, and Emmett Cullen and Rosalie and Jasper Hale please.”
Her stunned expression at Edward’s beauty and silky voice made me laugh and I slid in to Jaspers arms. This caused the women to gawk even more at our strange family, but she composed herself and replied, “Get these sheets signed by each of your teachers and return them to me at the end of the day, please. Here our schedules”
“Thank You Mam. Have a nice day,” Edward replied.
When we were finally away from prying eyes we took a moment to consult our schedules. Edward, Jasper and I had Spanish III right now and then Rosalie and I had Advanced Algebra right after lunch.
“Hey, so at least we have some classes together,” I said in order to cheer Edward up, for he still looked depressed.
“ Edward, are you sure you are up for this we don’t want you to go all loco in Spanish,” Emmett joked.
“Guys, leave him alone,” Jasper whispered, though I’m sure Edward still heard him, “He is really hurting right now.”
“I’m fine, or at least I will be. Come on lets go to class,” sighed Edward.
Rosalie and Emmett headed off in different directions while Edward, Jasper, and I headed to the language building. We all sighed as we sat down amongst the stares and whispers. This was going to be along day.
By lunch Jasper, Edward and I had received no less than 20 date invites and Emmett and Rosalie had just joined us outside the cafeteria.
“This is going to be so much fun I can hardly contain myself,” Rosalie said sarcastically.
“Come on Rose,” responded Emmett.
We all dragged our feet as we got trays and paid for food we wouldn’t eat. On our way over to the table, I caught a glimpse of a caramel haired girl getting up from a table in the back and stopped dead in my tracks. NO WAY!!!
“Alice,” Edward asked warily.
“No he cannot hear my thoughts. Twinkle, Twinkle… O my God it can’t be…little star, how I wonder…I never even saw this…what you are…WHY DIDN’T I SEE THIS COMING!!”
By this point the entire family was looking at the back table where she was walking right toward us. I can only imagine what Edward was thinking. Then, she sniffed the air and her head shot up and she looked in our direction.
It was unmistakably Her. It was Bella, I was sure of it. But she was a different Bella. She was icy pale, had golden eyes, and was taller and curvier than the Bella I remembered. She almost looked like… like…a vampire!!!! O my God!! I could not have been more shocked if Jasper had started doing the electric slide.
The whole time while my brain was trying to process this information she was deathly still, just staring at us. And that’s when I realized it has been 100 years since her funeral!!
Soon four other vampires came to stand behind her and all look questionably. She glanced at each of them, one girl and three guys, and then glanced back to us. She was no longer shocked, she was mad. Her eyes were shooting us looks of absolute loathing and I was suddenly overcome with guilt. I glanced at our family, and all of them were showing similar signs of guilt, but none more so than Edward and in his eyes I also saw longing. By the time I turned back around Bella was gone, and the four others were starting to go after her. Edward dropped his tray and ran towards the bathroom. Never in a million years did I expect this to happen.
“NO WAY,” I heard Alice think and turned to see what had caused the outburst.
I saw a girl who looked vaguely familiar walking our way and she took my breath away. Suddenly I went pale, I stopped breathing, thinking, listening. There in the middle of the Forks High School Cafeteria was Bella Swan the only one who could leave me breathless. What was worse, or better, she was unmistakably a vampire. A thousand of my own thoughts flooded in and my emotions were on a rollercoaster. Happiness, confusion, excitement, longing, and anguish all raged inside me and I couldn’t decide which one I should feel.
Soon others joined her, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. All of a sudden her eyes turned the blackest of black and struck me like a dagger through the heart. She was still ferocious at me for leaving 100 years ago and I couldn’t blame her I turned away to hide my shame and by the time I turned back she was gone. I couldn’t stand it any longer, so I ran as fast as I humanly could to the bathroom and started sobbing without tears. My mind was so full I could scream. Never in a million years did I expect to see my one true love again. No matter how long it has been I knew I was still in love with her, but it didn’t look like she felt the same way. What if I’m to late and she was with one of those other vampires in her coven? I felt like I was spinning in slow motion and everything else was moving to fast.
