Bella’s POV

Flashback: During New Moon

To prove to Charlie that I really was getting better and getting over Him, I decided to help him on one of his rare attempts to tame the yard. Jake was helping us or rather me, but right now he was at the local garden supply store picking up some flowers to plant later. Charlie and I were weeding and picking out endless dead shrubbery. That’s when I heard it.

“Hello Bella. I dare you to run,” said a deadly voice from right behind me.

Charlie and I whipped around to stare open-mouthed at tall, slender, icy pale women with flaming red hair and ruby red eyes. Victoria. Charlie got over the shock and asked cautiously, “Bells, who is this? One of your… friends.”

All I was thinking was, “CHARLIE!! O NO, not here not with him right here!!” I answered Victoria weakly for my heart was pounding so hard I was surprised Charlie couldn’t here it, but Victoria sure could. “ Victoria, please let him go. He has nothing to do with this. He didn’t do anything!!”

She just stood there mockingly with daggers in her eyes. “ No I don’t think so, you see, you have to suffer and I bet watching him die will do just that.” I gulped.

“Bella Swan, what the hell is going on!” demanded Charlie.

I continued to ignore him. “Please. Let. Him. Go”

She laughed scornfully. “Did you really expect me to? Come on Bella, You know me better then that.”

“ That’s it I’m going inside to get my gun!” Charlie mumbled. He started sprinting in the direction of the house. I only hoped he would stay inside.

Victoria continued, “Now, it is time for you and your precious Edward to suffer just like I have been and will continue to do because of YOU! This won’t bring him back, but I will sure make me feel better!” At that she pounced and threw me into the wall of the house.

All I could think about was how much I was going to miss Jake and Charlie, but I knew I was going to die. She grabbed me again and her fists connected with every inch of me. Bones shattered. I could smell blood all over. Soon I heard shots ring out. Charlie had finally returned with his gun! NO!

Victoria crouched low and bit my neck before I saw her spring on Charlie. The look on his face as she drained him would haunt me forever. And as soon as she had left she was back and I was flung once again into the wall. I couldn't even feel the pain for a fiery burn was melting me from the inside. I heard barking and growling and then the darkness took me. I knew I was dead.
