Paint and a day of shopping
After the decision that I wasn’t being changed – for the time being, life went on. Edward never left my side, we had all our classes together at school, he picked me up from my house in the morning and brought me home afterwards. Of course I didn’t complain, he being around me all the time giving all his attention to me was wonderful.
That scary day had hovered in my mind for a couple of days, I had not slept very well (that was also due to Edward breathing in my neck 99 percent of the time. The other 1 percent was him kissing my neck, that was even worse for my sleeping attempts), but now I had abandoned it from my thoughts.
Edward was very concerned about my well-being, but he hid it well. I only caught him looking troubled when he thought I wasn’t looking. Sometimes we talked about it, especially the first couple of days after the happening. But now two weeks had passed, and I didn’t think about it that much anymore.
Today, we were doing something very special. We were redesigning my room. Everytime Alice came by (that was like once a week by now) she told me explicitly that my room was totally out of style. She convinced me that I needed new furniture and a colour on my walls. Edward agreed with her (to my horror) and together they almost forced me to do it. To do something fun and safe. Eventually, I gave in. It would indeed be fun to do this, except for the fact that I would fell of the ladder while painting the walls. Or trip over a can of paint and break my leg...
Now, I would just do the lower parts of the walls, and Edward would do the higher parts, he almost didn’t need a ladder, just for the parts almost at ceiling-level.They enthousiastically took me shopping for furniture and paint. We needed to decide which colour suited well with my furniture, and was still not as boring as white.
”I don’t have that much money to buy furniture!” I complained, helplessly trying to talk myself out of the whole “Shopping-Saturday” idea.
”Well, Carlisle actually thought your room deserved a metamorphosis, as we did, and gave us some money! You can pick everything you want!”
I complained, I didn’t want them spending money on my room, I felt so poor.
”You two are only going to stop acting so excited when I let you spend money on me, aren’t you?” I asked Edward, Alice already was dancing and jumping through Charlie’s house. For his own sake, he wasn’t home.
”I think so, yeah.” Edward laughed, the gold in his eyes was dancing and his face was cheerful. It felt so good to see him this happy, and he almost looked untroubled for the first time in three weeks. I went through a day of “Oh look, over there”, “That’s so adorable!” and “You have to get that Bella!” from Alice.
She was unstoppable when she started shopping. I think we went to 20 different furniture shops, and stayed in each of them for half an hour.
Finally I we came home with paint for my walls, and the furniture would be delivered later this week. I had to admit, I found a couple of great things for my room. But my legs were deadly tired. Tomorrow we would start painting, and then that night I would sleep at the Cullens’ house. Alice influenced Charlie that far that I could sleep at their place. Of course under the condition that I would sleep in Alice’s room and Edward in his. (If only Charlie knew)
Alice and Edward stayed over for “dinner” and Charlie was ridiculously happy. He was talking with Alice all the time, offering her food which she refused politely. He didn’t offer Edward food once. I was embaressed, but this time it didn’t bother me that much, this had been a super day.
We watched tv with Charlie, and of course at exactly 9:00pm it was time for Charlie to throw Edward out. He never got over the whole leaving thing, so he was far from polite to Edward. Of course, my angel himself stayed civil as always.
”Thanks for dinner, chief Swan. Hopefully, I will see you soon,” he was unleashing all his charm, smiling politely. He was irresistable.
”Moah,” My dad just grumbled.
Edward stepped forward and shook Charlie’s hand, still smiling at him.
”See you tomorrow Bella, prepare for the painting!” Alice’s voice chimed. “Bye Charlie, thanks for dinner.” I noticed she was holding herself back, Charlie already sort of loved her, she didn’t need to exaggerate that. She smiled at me and winked.
She walked out the door and faked waiting for Edward. Of course he would come up to my room right after he closed the door.
”Bye Bella, see you tomorrow.” Edward faked, with a little grin. He always liked this moment, joking with Charlie.
He kissed me on the cheek and stepped outside. Charlie waved Alice goodbye smiling, totally ignoring Edward, and then got back to the tv.
I got back and watched tv for 5 minutes with Charlie.
”I’m tired dad, I’m going to bed early.”
”Good idea, you have some painting to do tomorrow.” He said.
”Sleep well Bells,”
With those words I went upstairs and opened the door to my room. Of course, Edward was already there, lying on my bed.
”Hi there,” I said soft.
”Come here,” was his answer to my greeting.
I sat in his arms for a few minutes, then I decided it was time to search for my pyjamas. I picked them of the old chair in the corner of my room, and went to the bathroom. When I brushed my teeth and got back into my room he was still lying there. We talked for a while and then he started singing me to sleep with my lullaby.
