Edward stiffened next to me. The beautiful yet terrified vampire girl looked over her shoulder, as if to see if she was being followed, then spoke in a voice that mesmerized me. "Please, you've got to help me." she said yet again. "What do you want?" Edward asked her coldly. "I need your help!! He's coming! I know who you both are, please! I'll explain later!" Just then, Alice tripped lightly to our side, her arms full of bags with her purchases in them. She looked at this frantic girl as well, studying her face.

Edward spoke then, "Come on, she's telling the truth. we have to leave." I realized that he must have read her mind, and he began to walk so fast I had to run to keep up.

At last we hurried out of the doors of the mall and to Edward's shiny Volvo. Edward sat in front with Alice in shotgun. I sat next to the girl in the back.

"Hello." she said to me in a quiet musical yet alluring voice, it made me jealous. "Hi." I said in my pathetic voice that was scratchy in comparison. "Umm, whould you like to explain to me who you're running from?" Edward asked in his also gorgeous voice. "Oh, that." she said. she figdgeted slightly. "Well, I'll start at the beginning. My name is Olivia Gwen Thomas. Liv for short. I was born in New York City in 1972. I had a twin brother Oliver. When I was sixteen, in 1988, I was attacked by a vampire. He sucked my blood, but not entirely, so I was changed into one as well." she paused, and her head hung with sadness. "And I met Brant. He was a vampire also. He refused to drink human blood. I fell in love with him." she sighed with grief and depression. "Then I met Aaron about seven years ago. That's when Brant was supposedly murdered." hatered stung her voice. "He was a vampire as well, and he fell for me because of my er, gift." I looked at her puzzled.

"I'm what some vampires call a siren. I was into dancing, singing and some modeling as a human, so you could say that I knew how to 'appeal' to people. Now I have the usual traits of a vampire, only some are more, intense. Such as Appealing to people and vampires as well, beauty, my voice, and grace. Sort of. Well I can't see how I'm any different from anyone else, but from the reactions I've gotten....." she trailed off. "Anyway, when I met Aaron, he fell for me immediately. He told me he loved me, and so on. So I became his 'mate' I suppose." she frowned in disgust. "Recently I found out what he was really like. And his gift as well." "Which is?" I asked, caught up in her story. "Illusions. He can get inside your head and make you see things. He was an actor as a human, and a very good one at that. He used his gift to trick me. When I found out what he was doing and what he did, I left him. Now he hates me and decided that if he couldn't have me, I couldn't live." she said.

Alice spoke then. "You said you found out what he was doing and what he did. What did he do before?" A dozen emotions played on Olivia's face. Anger. Depression. Grief. and others. "Well since when he met me I was 'taken', so he killed Brant." Shock and pity crossed Alice's face. "I didn't know it until I found out about his trickery. So now he's trying to kill me. I visited Tanya's family in Denali. She told me about your family. She said you could help. But if it's asking too much..." "It's not." Edward finally spoke. His tone much more gentle. "We've faced insane vampires before. Gets a little action into our boring Forks lives." He said smiling slightly. She laughed, the sound like music. "Thank you all so much." she said.

"We're here." Edward said. We were parked outside the Cullen's house. "Don't worry about Aaron. We'll gladly get rid of him for you." and with that, we headed into the house.
