I used to have a big brother, but then he went away to war.
I’m not quite sure what he’s doing there, or what he’s fighting for,
All I know is that he’s gone and I’m just as here as before.
We used to sing, to play, to dance, my big brother and I.
But then he went away to war, and I still don’t know why.
Daddy says he’s proud of him, and Mama sits and cries.
I don’t like the war, and I don’t know what for, but I miss my big brother and I.
