Broken Dreams

Noelani Clearwater knows what it's like to have a vampire for a mom. She knows what it's like to have a werewolf for a dad too. She's a hybrid, half werewolf and half vampire. There's a new vampire in town and he's different from most vampires. It's not just his thirst for Noelani's blood (blood that no other vampire has ever thirsted for seeing as it's werewolf blood with vampire venom) there's something else. Maybe it's his strange silver eyes or rare power. He's a dream walker and he's walking all over Noelani's dreams. Noelani has to make the two opposite parts of her become one. Two parts that aren't meant to go together. On top of that she now has to figure out what this new vampire is really all about. You might be a bit confused if you have not read Broken Love and Broken Souls. This is the third story in the Broken series.

I do not own all that stuff that Stephenie Meyer owns. You should know what that stuff is. I did make up Noelani, her mother, her friends, some of the werewolves imprints, and all of the werewolves kids. Enjoy the story!

Chapter 8: The Imprint

I glanced down the hallway. Nothing stirred. The entire house was absolutely silent. I crept quietly from my bedroom, down the stairs, and out the front door with the stealth of a vampire/werewolf hybrid. I made no sound as I shut the door behind me and took off running straight for the woods. All that drove me was the irresistible urge to find Zack.

Though I wanted nothing more then to find my reason for exciting I was scared. I was scared of how he would react. My dreams including him tugged at my memory, warning me he was dangerous. I knew I shouldn’t go looking for him. He’d probably just kill me and drink my blood. I didn’t want to believe that though. I wanted to see the best in him, so I walked onward.

After an hour of wandering I began to feel hopeless. Why would Zack be in these woods anyways? He was probably somewhere far away from here. I sighed and sat down on the mossy, damp ground. There was a soft crunch, like a leaf crumbling underfoot from amongst the trees and I leapt to my feet, tense.

“Hello Noelani.”

I jumped at the smooth, deep voice that came unexpectedly from behind me. I turned slowly and clenched my jaw to hold back a gasp. My heart beat a wild rhythm in my chest. The guy standing half in the shadows smiled knowingly as if he heard my heart scream out my mix of joy and fear that came with seeing him again. Now that I thought about it he probably could hear it seeing as he was a vampire.

“What do you want?” I managed to growl and keep the affection out of my voice.

“Oh I think you know what I want. You smell so irresistible,” he replied pleasantly.

I felt a rush of longing for this 16 year old boy who had only been a vampire for two months but somehow had no desire for blood of any kind… until he met me. He haunted my dreams so often that I pretty much knew him already. Why did I have to imprint on a boy who couldn’t resist the urge to kill me?

“I like my blood right where it is thank you very much,” I whispered. I took a deep breath and tried to hold back the tremors and keep from becoming a giant wolf.

“You’re such a pretty little werepire. You have a wild spirit and I really like you. It’s too bad I’m going to kill you.” Zack wasn’t smiling anymore.

“You don’t have to kill me,” I said.

“I don’t want to but I’m afraid I don’t have much self control and your blood smells so tempting. It’s driving me crazy,” Zack replied.

He looked truly sad as he seemed to struggle with his instincts. The monster inside of him won and he launched himself towards me at lightning speed, his silver eyes full of regret. I braced myself for death. I couldn’t fight back. How could I when I cared about him so much? I could never hurt him.

“I love you,” I choked as he knocked me to the ground.

This comment startled Zack. His soft, glowing eyes stared at me with surprise and pain. He closed them slowly. The hypnotizing shimmering silver glow of his irises was now hidden. I heard his flow of air cut off as he stopped breathing.

“How?” he murmured, trying to us as little air as possible to speak.

I just stared at his perfect face. He had freckles, light, almost unnoticeable freckles sprinkled across his nose and cheeks. I didn’t think that vampires could have freckles. Zack was certainly different then other vampires though.

“How could you love me even as I move in to kill you?” he asked.

“Can you honestly tell me that you don’t feel the connection? We’re bonded. Imprinting is how werewolves find their soul mates. I’ve imprinted on you. You’re my soul mate. I love you, I must.” I explained quietly.

His eyes flashed open. “We’re soul mates? Do you mean…” Zack ran out of air at the moment and was unable to speak anymore.

“We’re meant to be,” I finished for him.

It was strange how calm I was. Zack was about to suck me dry and I was watching him with a mushy expression. Imprinting sure messed up your brain.

I watched Zack take a small, hesitant breath. I could tell he was trying not to inhale my scent. The technique didn’t work. His expression got darker every time he breathed in. He immediately started gasping, sucking in air frantically like my scent was an intoxicating necessity to him. His eyes were becoming wild, excited, and terrifyingly hungry. No, they were more then just hungry, they were starved, crazed. It sent a shiver of vicious fear and unexplainable excitement down my spine.

“Zack?” I breathed, his name coming out as a sigh.

He growled. His lips pulled back to show his teeth. They were tiny but sharp and I could see how easily they could tear through anything, even my hard skin. I panicked just a little and started to struggle weakly against his iron grip but he was somehow stronger then me. My pathetic attempts to break free were useless, helped by the fact that he was on top of me, pinning me to the cold ground.

Zack leaned forward, moaning slightly as he drew in my smell even more deeply then before. Then he did the unexpected. His mouth pressed against mine briefly and that was all it took for me to stop fighting. It was too overwhelming, the feel of his hard lips softly moving over mine and the way his cool body pressed down slightly onto my overly warm one. My spirit wolf wouldn’t let me attempt to escape. I loved him too much. I love him much more then was rational.

He pulled away and I felt his lips touch my cheek, burning with an icy chill. He lowered his head even more to kiss me once more, this time on the neck. I smiled, blissfully content as my heart hammered sporadically against my chest, jumping to an irregular beat. My pulse pounded through my body.

I watched Zack fight against his thirst but it was useless. He had no practice in resisting something so tempting. I knew when he had lost. He groaned and his kiss turned painful when he sunk his pearly white teeth into my neck. It hurt like heck. I screamed at the top of my lungs.
