Chapter Four-Your Guardian Angel

When I see your smile
Tears run down my face I can't replace
And now that I'm strong I have figured out
How this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul
And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one

I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

It's okay. It's okay. It's okay.
Seasons are changing
And waves are crashing
And stars are falling all for us
Days grow longer and nights grow shorter
I can show you I'll be the one

I will never let you fall (let you fall)
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all (through it all)
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

Cuz you're my, you're my, my, my true love, my whole heart
Please don't throw that away
Cuz I'm here for you
Please don't walk away and
Please tell me you'll stay, stay

Use me as you will
Pull my strings just for a thrill
And I know I'll be okay
Though my skies are turning gray

I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to heaven

Jacob’s POV

I ran back into the clearing as soon as I heard Jenny’s scream. What I saw scared the hell out of me. A huge bear was standing over her and there were dark red gashes along her left side. I snarled deep in my throat as I phased and charged the bear.

It flew back a few feet but immediately went for me. I dodged it easily and charged it again as a small brown cub walked out of the forest. The bear nudged the cub away from me and rambled back into the forest as though nothing had happened. I phased back and pulled on my sweats as I ran to Jenny’s side.

I dropped to my knees next to her and slowly rolled her head sideways so that it wasn’t pressed into the dirt. She whimpered and the sound cut through me like a knife. I murmured nonsense to her to keep her calm and I gently pulled her shirt off her back and cut it away with the pocket knife from my pack. She whimpered again as I picked her up as gently as possible and started jogging back towards the houses.

I went slowly trying not to move her too much but the gashes were bleeding so much I was worried that she would die of blood lose or go into shock. When I finally did reach her house I yelled for Claire even as I continued on towards their car.

“Oh, my poor baby.” Claire cried as she ran to us with the keys. She opened the back door and I slid Jenny in with me. I would have ridden in the front but I was worried that she would roll off the seat.

“Forks hospital.” I commanded as Claire pulled out of the driveway and down the road.

“Call Quil for me Jake.” Claire said as she handed me a cell phone and picked up speed.

I dialed and he answered on the first ring. “Hello?”

“Quil, it’s Jake. Jenny and I got into a little trouble with a mother bear and Claire and I are on our way to the hospital.”

“What happened?” He demanded.

“We were sitting in a clearing having lunch when we heard a crash behind us. I went to go see what it was and as it turned out it was a bear cub and the mama was in the clearing with Jenny. I ran and phased and chased it off but it got three deep scratches in Jenny’s side.”

I finished explaining as we reached the hospital. “I gotta go Quil. I’ll have Claire call you when we get some news.”

“I’m coming down there.” He said and I heard a car door slam.

“Ok, see you then.” I hung up and opened the door of the car as Claire ran in the emergency room doors. I have no idea what she said, but suddenly the car was surrounded by doctors and there was someone with a stretcher. As they got her out of the car she whimpered my name quietly.

“Shhh…honey I’m here. You’re safe now.” That seemed to satisfy her and she relaxed slightly. The doctors wheeled her away and suddenly I got the sickly sweet scent of a vampire. We’d had a few vampires in the woods every now and then but no one had started phasing again.

It smelled familiar though and I realized it was the smell of the doctor one. Carlisle or something.

Sure enough a few minutes later and Claire and I were waiting anxiously in the waiting room he walked through the doors. “Ahhh Jake good to see you.” He said and I just sat there in shock.

“Yes Jacob we’re back.” Said the voice of my least favorite person ever. Edward Cullen.

(A/N:I could have stopped there but I like this chapter to much so be extra nice and review)

Jennifer’s POV

I woke up dizzy and disoriented. Where am I? I thought as I took in the shooting pain in my side and the figure sleeping in a chair next to my bed. “Jacob?” I whispered, but his head snapped up and he looked at me with relief.

“Hi sleepy head.” He said pushing some hair off my face.

“What happened? All I remember is seeing a bear then screaming.” I said trying to think through my fuzzy thoughts.

“You got attacked by a bear.” He said quietly.

“So how bad am I?” I asked looking down at the sheet pulled over me.

“Not to bad actually. You lost a lot of blood and tore up a little bit of muscle, but it could have been a lot worse.” He said smiling at me gently. “I was so scared when I saw you lying there. I wanted to feed Josh to the bear and then kill it.”

I smiled slightly, but started to feel light headed. “I’m tired.” I murmured. The last thing I heard before I succumbed to sleep was his gentle laugh.
