Charlie's Request

This is a fanfiction told from Edward's point of view. What if Charlie found out about the Cullen family secret? What would his actions and reactions be to this shocking realization? The adult rating is just a precaution for future chapters, the chapter notes will tell the separate chapter ratings!!!

I don't own any part of the Twilight series!!! I'm just and extremely addicted fan!!!

Edward’s POV

Things were starting to get ridiculous. I could see what Alice was seeing and I didn’t like it at all.

“Why does this always happen to me? I would like it if, just one time, I didn’t have a crazed vampire, hell-bent on discontinuing my existence, trying to do just that. I completely understand Irena’s reaction; if someone killed Edward I would go on a rampage, too. But how does she think it would actually work?”

“She knows that it won’t work; that’s why she’s trying it. This is her version of the second biggest mistake that I have ever made. I went to Italy and asked the Volturi; she doesn’t see the point in wasting the time it would take to get there or giving anyone the chance to stop her. She knows that if anyone threatened your life that I would take them out myself. She’s hoping that her plan will work. If it doesn’t work she’ll try attacking one of us. She’s even considering going to the wolves.”

“How would you know that? I couldn’t have possibly seen that.”

“She’s in the woods, just out of sight and earshot.”

“Maybe I should try talking to her; this is entirely my fault anyway.”

“NO!!! You are not going anywhere near her,” I shouted, horrified at the thought. Alice called to me with her thoughts.

Edward, everything will be fine. Just let her talk to Irena.

I was worried and I decided that I would let Bella talk to Irena, but I was going to be right there next to her.

“That isn’t necessary, Edward. All right, fine. Let’s go.”

We walked out the door and into the woods. I heard her thoughts and from where she was I could tell that we were close.

He’s gone and it’s entirely that little witch’s fault. Laurent, I shall join you soon, my love. I cannot bear life withoutyou.

“Irena, I am very sorry about Laurent. I never had any problem with him. He didn’t hunt me when James did. He went to live with you and the others. Even when he tried to kill me I was at a point to where I welcomed death. I never asked anyone to harm him. I’m so very sorry for your loss. If anything happened to Edward, my reaction would be the same.”

Bella’s words seemed to have stalled her for a moment. She thought about her options and made her decision.

“I believe you. I am sorry for the worry that I have caused. Tell Tanya that I’m sorry, and tell Charlie that I didn’t mean to upset his beloved. I could see it in his eyes. Even without Jasper’s talent, I’ve known that he loves her for a while. I wish them both all of the happiness in the world. Please ask them to forgive me; I will not live without him. I’m going to the wolves; don’t worry, I won’t attack. I will go up to them and beg for death if I have to.”

Bella linked my mind to hers.

I feel horrible.

Don’t, love, it’s her choice.

I know. I would make the same decision in her position. I don’t blame her.

Please don’t say that second thing ever again; don’t even think it. The thought of you not existing anymore is excruciating.

Bella dropped the connection and looked into the forest as Irena ran away. We ran back to the house and saw Tanya still in Charlie’s arms and looking more miserable than before.

“Alice told you, I guess. Irena said to tell you that she’s sorry for causing all of that trouble, Tanya. She also said to tell Charlie that she’s sorry for upsetting Tanya; she could see how you feel about her. She asks that you forgive her. I don’t blame her. I wouldn’t want to live without Edward, and I doubt that the rest of you would want to live without your beloved ones either.”

I hugged Bella tightly. Things wouldn’t be the same, but maybe the future held a brighter tomorrow.
