Good-bye Bella

At Bella's party, Jasper goes out of control as he sees her blood. And at that exact moment, Alice's world falls apart. She has to leave her best friend, her sister, her home, everything. Can she go on without Bella?

Emmett and Rosalie fought back Jasper, who was snapping his teeth together. Bella was on the ground, bleeding. This party was not supposed to be like this.

I had decorated beautifully, even though I knew Bella would object.

I wish I could have seen this coming.

“Alice, go get my bag,” Carlisle commanded me.

I grabbed the bag and came over to where Carlisle was fixing Bella’s arm.

“Edward, leave,” Carlisle pleaded.

“I can stand it.” he replied stubbornly.

“You don’t have to be a hero,” Bella said faintly.

And then Edward left.

I watched Carlisle fix Bella’s arm for awhile. The scent of her blood was, indeed, very nice. But I left anyway to see how Jasper was doing.

I found Jasper sitting on the ground. I sat next to him and grabbed his hand.

“How are you doing?” I asked him.

“I feel terrible,” he replied miserably.

Jasper always struggled with our “vegetarian” lifestyle. It was the way he came into our world, but I didn’t like to think of how he did.

I laid my head against his shoulder. Edward glared angrily at him, but I knew he knew Jasper was sorry.

“So what happens now?” I asked.

“I don’t know,” Edward replied. He left to go take Bella home.

A vision crept into my mind.

If I could cry, this would be the time I would. As I watched Bella leave, I knew that was the last time I would ever see her again. We were leaving Forks behind. We were leaving Bella. We were leaving home.

“Alice, what is it?” Rosalie asked, studying my face intently.

I just shook my head. I got up and went into the house. Everyone crowded around me.

“What is it, Alice?” Esme asked softly.

I closed my eyes.

“We…” I began. But I couldn’t go any further. “Let’s just wait until Edward comes home in the morning. He’s already though it, and it’s going to happen.”

And we waited.

I heard Edward enter the house. We were all in the living room, waiting for him.

“I have something to tell you all,” he began.

“I already know,” I said quietly, closing my eyes.

“I’m sorry, Alice. It’s the only way,”

“Alice, I’m truly sorry. We should’ve left as soon as I noticed Bella. That would have made this a lot easier for us,”

“But, Edward- what about Bella? Does she not mean anything to you?”

“Alice! I love her, and this is for her safety. We’ve put her through so much already,”

Then it was quiet.

“We’re leaving?” Emmett asked quietly.

“Yes.” Edward said.

Edward went off to pick Bella up through school for the last time. We packed up our belongings.

Edward had said it would be easier this way, for us not to say good-bye. I wished I could, though.

We were going to Seattle to catch a plane. Then we would go our separate ways.

As we got into the car, I thought, Good-bye, Forks. Good-bye, Bella.

And then, we were gone, leaving behind someone who was part of our family, our life. Good-bye, Bella.
