Summary:

Notes:
So I didn't really have time to do anything grand with this and it makes me sad...lol. I really wanted to go in depth with Jasper's thoughts and emotions but it just ended up not being that at all...lol. But, I hope you all enjoy it anyway.

“Maybe I should just leave,” I said, anxiously pacing around the room. Alice gently pulled me to sit down beside her on the black leather couch.

“You are going to be fine,” she reassured. I twisted my body around, pulling Alice onto my lap; leave it up to my dearest Alice to make me feel as if no task is impossible, however trying it may be.

“It’s not me I’m worried about; it’s more the fact that I can snap her like a twig if I get too close.” Alice sat up, lightly punching me in the shoulder.

“Jasper, you are not going to kill Bella. Have a little faith in yourself,” she said walking towards the door. “Edward’s asking for us!” She excitedly bounded from the room, forcing me to jog to catch up with her.

“Hey, Edward!” she exclaimed, sprinting downstairs much to the dismay of Carlisle and Esme. Bella seemed so calm, even with Alice in such a close proximity complimenting how good she smelled. It’s hard for me to imagine myself so close to Bella, the danger she will always have to face when in a room with me.

“Keep your distance,” Edward warned, his lips moving too fast for Bella even to realize he was speaking to someone. I stopped at the bottom of the stairs, leaning against the railing, hoping I looked as if I was purposefully standing there instead of keep my distance.

As calm as Bella’s face may have seemed, I could now feel how nervous she truly was. Upon closer scrutiny, I could see her hands lightly shaking as she stuffed them into her pockets. It surprises me that she hasn’t run sprinting from the room with the nerves now engulfing her body….as if I couldn’t catch her…

No! I cannot allow myself to think like that. No matter how tempting she may be, no matter how hard it is to resist her blood, I have to do it. Edward has never been like this; he’s happy for once in his life, and I won’t be the cause of the death of that happiness. Though I may not understand how Edward could feel so strongly for a human, I can understand how he feels about Bella. She shouldn’t have to feel so nervous around us…perhaps I could tamper just a little…

“Hello, Bella,” I said, watching as her tension quickly subsided. She politely smiled and returned my greeting, hopefully not noticing the reproachful glare Edward shot at me.

“Bella is more observant than she is given credit for,” I thought as she watched Carlisle and Edward’s non-verbal exchange. She tore her eyes away from them, staring at the grand piano in the next room. I was intrigued by the sudden range of emotions crossing her face. I could only discern yearning, sadness, awe, happiness…

I felt Alice slip her hand into mine as she inched closer to me.

“See? I told you you could do it,” she whispered. I squeezed her hand in reply as Esme ushered Bella closer to the piano.

“Edward didn’t tell you he was musical?” Esme inquired. Bella glanced back at Edward, glaring at his innocent expression.

“No. I should have known, I guess,” she replied turning her attention back to Esme, who raised her eyebrows in confusion; I could feel Alice leaning in closer, her own curiosity at Bella’s cryptic response getting the best of her.

“Edward can do everything, right?” she explained glancing over at us. I snickered as Esme gave Edward a reproachful look; Alice elbowed me in the ribs, pulling me angrily upstairs.

“You shouldn’t have laughed!” she scolded as we reached her room.

“I’m sorry,” I laughed, not able to hide my amusement at her supposed angry face.

“So, what do you think of Bella?”

“I think she’s a human,” I replied, taking a seat beside her on the couch.

“No, really? I just thought she was tempting me because of her perfume! Blood must be a popular new fragrance. I can see the slogan now: Wear Blood, go around the Cullens, and--”

“Alright, Alice. Point taken,” I interrupted, stopping her little rant. It surprised me that Alice was getting so defensive; she never acts like this. Either she really likes Bella, or she’s just going insane….both were plausible.

“I meant what do you think of Bella for Edward,” she corrected. I took a deep breath, waiting a few moments before replying to her loaded question.

“I think that she is a human, and he is a vampire. It’s hard to ever imagine a relationship like that, Alice.”

“But he hasn’t killed her yet! Doesn’t that prove that they could make it work?!” she exclaimed, jumping up.

“Alice, why are you getting so worked up over Bella and Edward!?”

“I had a vision,” she said, her voice dropping dramatically.

“Of?” I pressed, easing her to sit down beside me. Whatever this vision was, it obviously had Alice shaken.

“Bella…as a vampire.” My mouth hung open at the shock of her words. Her visions always come true--always…but that means that one of…us…

“Who turned her?” I asked.

“I…I’m not sure. I didn’t see the who part….just the what…and when,” she whispered. I sighed.

“Well then, we’ll just have to make her remaining human years the best,” I said, hoping to alleviate some of Alice’s stress and worries.

“Year…” she quietly corrected.

“Year?! Alice, have you told--”

“Yes. He made me promise not to tell anyone--especially Bella.”

“Yet you told me?” I asked. Promises made between Edward and Alice were rarely broken--for example, the promise Alice made to Edward when he pleaded with her not to tell Carlisle and Esme why he fled after his first meeting with Bella; she never told any us, Edward did.

“I try to tell you everything, Jasper. We don’t have secrets,” she replied smiling. I took her into my arms, kissing her lightly.

“You know I don’t deserve you, right?”

“Of course,” she replied.

“Well, she’s survived her first meeting with the her boyfriend’s vampire family. What’s next for Bella to conquer?”

“Well…there’s a storm heading over town…”

“When?” I asked, immediately excited at the rare opportunity to play ball.

“Within the hour. Want to ask Edward--and he can bring Bella!” Alice exclaimed, already at the door. I followed her towards Edward’s room; playful growls were emitting from behind the closed door.

“You think he’s eating her?” I asked jokingly. Alice cracked the door open.

“Can we come in?” Alice asked, cracking the door. Edward nodded as Alice poked her head in. She skipped to the center of the room, plopping down in the floor. I leaned against the door frame, remembering Edward’s warning, as the trio talked.

“Will I need an umbrella?” Bella asked.

“No; I’m sure it will hit over town,” Alice confidently replied.

“I’d love to,” Bella replied.

“Great! I’ll go asked Carlisle and Esme if they’d like to join us!”

“You already know they will,” I said.

“Yes, but it’s polite to ask,” she replied. I laughed as I gently pulled Edward’s door to.

Alice was already back, with Emmett and Rosalie.

“You guys can go ahead. Carlisle, Esme, and I will be there in a little bit with the stuff,” she explained.

“Aye aye captain,” I replied, giving my love a quick hug before running off, the shapes of the trees blurred as I raced through the forest, a mere shadow to any onlookers.
