Summary:
The werewolves refuse to allow Bella to marry Edward and become a vampire. They are willing to do anything--ANYTHING--to stop that from happening. More barriers threaten to keep Bella and Edward from acquiring their ultimate happiness and they must once again fight for what they want--what they NEED.

We were walking hand-in-hand to his house. We were both chuckling until we came upon his house and we saw Charlie's cruiser outside the house. My smile faded, "Oh, no." This could not be good. Charlie had come to take me back home. I took an involuntary step closer to Edward and he wrapped a comforting arm around my shoulder, hugged me to his side, and kissed the side of my head.

"It's okay, Bella. He's just here to talk."

I nodded rigidly and he chuckled softly into my hair. "What?" I asked, irritated by the fact that he knew more than I did.

He smirked, "Renee's here."

"Renee?!" This was definitely not good.

"She came to force Charlie to accept this She brought him here to make him realize that you aren't making the same mistakes they did."

I sighed, concerned, and Edward tilted my head up to look me in the eyes. He pushed my drenched hair back behind my ear and bent down to kiss the bridge of my nose. "Bella, I promise you; nothing's wrong. Right now, Charlie's just...confused, for lack of a better word. And Renee's smug...she was right about something."

I furrowed my eyebrows. It was usually the other way around.

He took my hand, kissed it, and then nodded toward the house, "Come on." I was still hesitant." He smiled, "Come on! Trust me; Charlie's fine."

I let him lead me into his house and my feet felt freakishly heavy as I shuffled my way into the living room, clinging to Edward, as if for dear life.

As I turned the corner, I saw Renee standing behind the chair Charlie was sitting in, with her arms folded across her chest, a smug smile playing on her lips. Charlie definitely looked confused, but he looked like he was holding another emotion back--anger?--Esme, Jasper, and Alice were sitting on the couch and I could tell by the atmosphere that Jasper was using his ability to keep Charlie calm. Carlisle was standing beside the wall next to where we entered. Rosalie was sitting on the arm of the chair, looking flawlessly gorgeous, as usual, without even trying. Emmett was standing beside Carlisle, obviously showing off his authority as the oldest brother, flexing his chest muscles and staring thoughtfully into space.

If I wasn't so freaked out right now, I would have laughed at his expression. I moved in even closer to Edward, who stifled a snort. He was looking at Emmett too. Carlisle turned around and saw us.

He smiled, warmly, "Ah, Edward and Bella have returned."

"Bella!" Renee chirped, her face lighting up with enthusiasm as she crossed the room and hugged me tightly.

"Hi, Mom." I said, struggling to keep my voice steady.

"How've you been, sweetie?" She said, smiling and pulling away from our hug.

I looked over to Jasper and cast him a quick glance of gratitude and he smirked back, understanding. "Good." I muttered, as Jasper's calming waves now washed over me. "I'm good."

"Where were you?" Charlie asked, crossly, and Jasper focused his attention on him now.

"I was out for a walk with Edward." I said, looking at him for the first time.

Charlie simply nodded and Esme said, softly, "Oh, Bella, you're soaked! You're gonna freeze. Alice, take her to get some clothes."

Alice made to get up, but Rosalie was to her feet first, "Actually...I'll do it, Esme." All the Cullens looked at her in surprise, but she ignored them and stretched out her hand, "Come on, Bella."

I didn't show my surprise, glad that she was finally warming up to me, so I took it without hesitation, and she smiled warmly at me before leading me out of the room and then upstairs to hers and Emmett's room.
