I took in a sharp breath.
“What do you want?” I hissed.
“To know if you’re okay?” Alice said from the other side of the stall door.
“Doesn’t everyone?” I shot back.
“Unlock the door please Bella?” I sighed and opened the door walking out.
“There, you happy?” She sighed.
“Bella, I just wanted to let you know how my stupid brother feels.”
“Which stupid brother?” I attempted to make a joke, I had missed Alice desperately, and now that she was here I couldn’t help but try. She almost smiled, but she obviously wasn’t in the mood for a joke.
“You know which one Bella.” She looked me in the eye so intensely that I had to look away. “You know he still loves you.”
“No he doesn’t,” I didn’t want to talk about this; I would end up in a ball like on the first day of school. “He told me himself when he left.”
“He was lying to you Bella, he really does love you. He left because he thought it was safer for you, of course he’s completely wrong. Let me guess, Victoria’s been after you for longer than we’ve known, right?”
“Possibly.” I said not wanting to giver her a straight answer.
“How long Bella?” She grabbed my shoulders and shook me a little, I recoiled from her touch. It brought back to many memories.
“The first I was aware of it was when I saw Laurent in the meadow.” I shivered as I remembered his words, “luckily the wolves stopped him.”
“What wolves? And when?”
“It was in October. And they were these gigantic creatures; I didn’t understand why Laurent was scared off them, and why they didn’t come after me.”
“I’ll have to tell Carlisle about that.” She mumbled more to herself than me. “Now, Bella, we should have someone by your house at all times. That way if she makes a move we’ll be there.” I finally understood through her expression, why they were doing this.
“What do you mean, ‘No Alice’? If you want to live than you’re going to go along with anything I say.”
“I mean no Alice you won’t do anything. I can take care of myself. Besides I see that you’re only doing this because Edward feels guilty that she’s after me. Right?” I was yelling now, “Well none of you have the right to care anymore or feel guilty about anything, because he left.” I was shaking and the angry tears were returning. Alice just stared at me after my outburst.
“Save it Alice.” The bell rang and I walked out of the bathroom, leaving a very surprised Alice with her mouth hanging open. I had never been that mean to anyone, especially her. I felt bad doing it, but all she was doing was lying to me, and all those lies would end up hurting me in the end.
