Bella’s point of view:

I was really starting to be friends with Edward again. I was a little bit scared though. I didn’t want to fall in love with him again, did I? Or maybe, I was hiding the truth from myself…Maybe, even through all these years, I never stopped loving him.

“Angel! Can you come here? I have a question!”

“What’s wrong?” He asked, as he came flying into the room.

“Angel, do you think that I…never actually stopped loving Edward?”

“That is really hard to answer. I mean, it could be. It makes sense. Otherwise, why would you be so mad at him for all these years?”

“Oh. Okay. Thank-you.”

“Are you okay?”

“I guess. I mean, I can’t tell him, and I don’t know if I want to love him, and then there is this part of me that dies every time I see him walk away. And now I think that I have always loved him and that that is what is killing me the most. So, I really don’t know what I’m feeling right now…”

“Do you want me to go?”

“Sure. I’ve got a lot of thinking to do…” He left the room.

I knew I had a lot of thinking to do. I didn’t want to tell Edward, but I knew I had to. I didn’t want to love him, but a small part of me did. Or did it? I mean, he left me for a “distraction”. I think that he is lying to his family to make himself look better. I know what Emmett said. But, still. Emmett could be trying to protect me. Or Edward. Either one. Still. Do I actually want to believe him? Even if he did love me, I think that if he felt even a millionth of the pain I felt about his leaving, he wouldn’t have left in the first place.

Alice called me and she was just kind of talking…I didn’t really pay a lot of attention to her…I was too distracted. I mean, maybe Tanya was right…Maybe I was just a worthless human to him…Well, I need to be happy. There is a wedding tomorrow! Oh, who was I kidding? Nobody…Well, maybe Edward. But that doesn’t count. It’s kind of the entire idea. I had no idea what was going on.

“I think I am lying to myself.” I said to no one in particular. I was just talking. Now I know I’m crazy. Who talks to themselves?

“Lying? About what?”

“Edward? Why are you back? Didn’t you just leave?”

“Yes, I left. But, I don’t know. I was running, and I heard you talking. So, I stopped.” I was freaking out. How much had he heard? Enough? Did he hear me say…Oh no.

Okay, keep it cool. “Oh? And what did you hear?”

“Oh, you know. You were talking to Angel. Nothing big. The first thing I heard was him say the question, that I hadn’t heard, was hard to answer…” I was relieved.

“Wow…So, you are like, my own personal stalker.”

“No, I was running by and happened to hear some things. I am not stalking you.”

“Yes, but you came into my house.”

“Well, it was my house.”

“If you sell a house, it is no longer yours, and it belongs to whoever bought it.”

“That’s beside the point. I’m not stalking you.”

“You came into my house, just because you heard talking. Tell me that’s not stalking.”

“That’s not stalking.” He said, with a cocky grin.

“Look, just because I said we were going to try harder to be friends, doesn’t mean much, okay? And even if it did, still. It’s creepy when people randomly come into your house. Well, it didn’t use to be, but never mind…Forget I said anything.” Why am I such an idiot? Why did I say that? Oh right, because I’m an idiot. An idiot who’s falling in love again.

“Okay. I’m sorry; I won’t let it happen again. I just, well, I really want to be friends with you, and I don’t exactly know why, and I’m making myself look like an idiot with everything I say, and everything I do, and I…”

I knew that would have been one of those perfect moments where the guy is rambling on about how he is bad, and the girl kisses him to shut him up, and when they break apart, she whispers, “You are perfect.” But, it wasn’t like that for us. Mostly because he didn’t even know who I was, but the other part was because he left me, and whatever the reasons were, he still did it. I had made a list about it!

“Princess?” he asked warily. Oops. I had stopped listening.

“I forgive you. Don’t worry about it. It’s okay,” I said, hoping that was at least close to the right thing to say. “So what is going on in your life?”

“Um…Okay. Nothing much.” He seemed puzzled, like I hadn’t said anything close to what I was supposed to.

“Okay, you can tell, I stopped listening. I didn’t mean to, it was an accident, I was thinking about, well, never you mind that, but mostly about the wedding.” Okay, so that was a lie, but he didn’t need to know that.

“Oh yes, that will be big for your family, won’t it? Aren’t the Denali’s coming down? Yes, I might just have to, be um, not around for that.”

“And why would that be?” I, of course, already knew why and it started with a big, fat capital T for Trouble, I mean, Tanya.

“Oh, Tanya and I have, well; she has some misconceptions about our relationship, which is not exactly mutual. You see, she is convinced that the best thing for me is to crawl into her bed, where as I, on the other hand, am completely against the idea, and would very much see it as very close to blasphemy.”

Wow. He said that in a harsh way, even I wasn’t necessarily that mean. “Edward, I would say I have to go to bed, but we both know that’s not strictly true, and I have absolutely nothing else to do. We should go for a walk in the woods, yes?” Where did that come from? No!

“I don’t see why not. Let’s go.”

“I also want to hunt. I feel like killing something.” Why do I keep talking?!

“Okay. I need to hunt, too.” He said with a slight questioning grin on his handsome face. Wait, what? What am I saying? I am so dead. I hopped off of my bed and jumped out of my window. Edward followed closely behind. I tore off into the woods.

“So, do you still hate me all that much?” Edward asked me. We were sitting up in a tree after we hunted.

“A little, I guess. You know, a lot of people have a mantra of ‘forgive and forget’ but it’s really hard. When that one person does so much over and over…You know?” I said.

“Yes, but not everybody fully understands everything they do. You can be a million years old, and not know all of your sins. Everybody makes mistakes. Not to mention, we can’t easily forget, can we?”

“No, we can’t. But we can forgive, right?”

“Yes. But as you said before, it could be difficult for somebody who is a repeat offender.” He said.

“Now I’m confused. Are you on my side or your side?” I asked.

“I’m not on a side, I am simply trying to find where you stand, and figure if you still hate me.”

“Nothing like asking…” I mumbled.

“What?” he asked. Right then, my cell phone went off.

“Where are you?!”

“Rachel? What’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong? I’m getting married, and you aren’t here!”

“Chi-chi, relax! Yes, you are getting married, but everything is going to be perfect, I promise! We have out your dress and all of our dresses, I have my dress, and everybody is going to be there. It’s going to be fine.”

“Um, I know that. It’s time to set up, though.” I checked the time on my phone. It was late. How long had we been talking?

“Holy crow! Chi-chi, I’m so sorry! I’ll be there in less than five minutes!” I hopped out of the tree and ran home, knowing Edward had heard the conversation, and understood.

* * *

“Rachel, I am so sorry! What do you need to be done still about the…” I trailed off as I saw what had become where the wedding would take place. The entire backyard had been transformed into a bride’s dream. There was a white tent, and a white aisle, and white chairs for the guests. Next to the white altar, stood Esme, taking pictures of everything. We would have hired a professional for the pictures, but Esme’s would turn out so much better anyway. There was a soft pink colour throughout everything. Alice did make it pink like she said. I walked back into the house to find Dylan making a bunch of roses for the bouquets.

“Alice told me to make these, and she’ll put them with the rest of the roses later. There are bunches of pink and white roses in there!” he pointed to a side room, and there was Alice, happily singing and making bouquets for the wedding. I walked in after her.

“Hey, Ali. Having fun?” I asked her.

“Of course! I love planning weddings! I plan Emmett and Rosalie’s every time. It’s so much fun! You really should try it sometime!”

“Okay, Ali, whatever you say. When is everybody supposed to get here?”

“Well, the wedding starts at 10, and it’s only 5 now, so actually, really soon. We want to catch up on things first. You know? We invited a lot of people, and most of them are staying for a few weeks. Especially Tanya and her family. We miss them a lot. We haven’t seen them in too long.”

“Oh, okay. Well, what do I need to be doing?”

“Well, actually, I don’t think anything, unless you want to help me in here. Dylan is the only other one here right now. Everybody else is over at my house, but I needed him here to help me make these. Aren’t they going to be gorgeous?!”

“Of course, Alice. Everything you make is.” I said.

“Aw, Bella, that is so sweet!” I didn’t get mad at her for calling me Bella, and I knew it wasn’t that big of a deal, because nobody else was here.

Esme walked into the room just then. “Bella?”

“Um. No. Who said that?” Alice asked. I don’t know why she even bothered. I know Esme had heard everything.

“Ali, just tell her.” I said.

“Okay, I slipped. It’s just, she fits so well. It reminded me of Bella.” That actually was a nice cover, but I know Esme didn’t buy it.

“Yes, Esme. I have the power of appearance changing.” I said as I started to change back to my old familiar form. “After you guys left, I became a shell. I was pretending to be okay, when I wasn’t. I guess that’s what gave me the power. One day, Victoria came with the intention to kill me for revenge on Edward. When I explained to her what happened, she actually revealed to me she wanted to die also. She was going to go to the werewolves. We decided to get through everything together. She changed me, and we’ve been together in this family ever since. Aiden found us not so long after we got everybody else, and she’s been so happy with him. Every couple of years, they will take a year off and go to Illinois, where he found us, just for some time to spend together. But, I am actually Bella. The girl you met in Forks all those years ago.” I said, as I finished my transformation.

“Oh, Bella! Oh my beautiful daughter! We missed you so much!” Esme said as she hugged me so tight and dry sobbed.

“I missed you too, Esme. I missed all of you so much! All I’ve wanted all these years is to come back to your family, I was just too afraid of what would happen if you knew who I was. I was so mad at all of you for leaving me like that, and I thought you might reject me again.”

“Again? Darling, we never rejected you in the first place! Edward has been so depressed all of these years because you said you didn’t love him anymore!”

“No, Esme. Never. I would have never said that to him. Even to this day, I love him with all of my heart. I just don’t know if I can ever be enough for him. I never was. He said you were leaving, and that I wasn’t enough for him, that he didn’t love me anymore. I was devastated. Charlie threatened to send me to Florida with my mom, if I didn’t try to live. I hadn’t realized, I had become a zombie of who I was before.

“After Victoria changed me, everybody thought I had killed myself, and Charlie lost the will to live. He could barely eat. He was horrible. A few years after my change, I changed how I looked, and went to him. I told him that I was an angel, and that Bella was so upset at what had happened. I told him that Bella didn’t commit suicide. I told him Bella loved him with all his heart, and was looking down on him. He was better, but he still died really young. I like to think he’s looking down on me now.” I finished my story and changed back as our doorbell rang.

I answered the door to see the Denali Clan. “Tanya! Oh, it’s been too long! How are you? Please, come in!” I said, with as much grace as I could.

“Tanya, how have you been? It’s so wonderful to see you, dear!” Esme said, coming out of the flower room with Alice.

“Oh! Carmen, Eleazar! How have you been? Oh you must see the wedding tent! Tanya, Irina, Kate, you too! It’s gorgeous! Rachel will look so beautiful in her dress!” Alice said.

“Alice, still full of energy, I see. Well, where is everybody else?” Tanya asked her.

“Well, everybody else except for me, are all in the Cullen’s new house. We needed them out of the way while we finished setting up.” Dylan said.

“Which reminds me, Dylan. You have to go now. You are done with the flowers, and Rachel has to come over, and you aren’t allowed to see her until the big moment!” Alice sang.

I called Rachel up and told her to come over. “We have to get you ready!” I said. She was over in two minutes. We took her into her bedroom, and had her jump into the shower.

“Alice, I’m going to work my magic on her. It works on me, and on other people, so no makeup is even required. But, I need you to go into my room and pull out a tiara that is sitting in a box on my closet shelf. There is also some jewelry there. That is her something old and borrowed. In the back of the closet is some blue lingerie, grab that too. And then her dress is the new, okay? And you should also get all the bridesmaids up here to get ready.” I dictated to her.

“Alright! This is going to be so much fun!” Alice sang as she ran out of the room. She raced back in with the stuff as Rachel got out of the shower.

“Chi-chi put on that robe and come out here, okay? Alice is going to get all the other bridesmaids up here and get them ready. Here, put this on.” I said handing her the lingerie and garter. “These are your something blue. Go ahead and get your dress on next.” I said, handing it to her.

Alice rushed in with all the bridesmaids as I zipped up Rachel’s dress.

“Rachel, you look stunning!” Victoria said.

“He’s going to drop dead!” Kaylee said.

“You really do look beautiful.” Alice said.

“I told you you’re gorgeous for a reason. Chi-chi, he is one lucky man. He’s not going to know what hit him.” I said. “Now, sit down.”

I took Rachel’s long, dirty blonde hair and made it into perfect ringlet curls. I added a bit of colour into her cheeks, and made her lips a soft icy pink. I curled her lashes, and made them a tiny bit longer.

“Alice, bring me the box.” I said.

“What box?” Rachel asked.

“The box with the rest of the stuff for your wedding in it.” I replied.

Alice brought me the box and I opened it, and pulled out a tiara, and matching jewelry set. The bridesmaids oohed and aahed over it.

“Rachel, this tiara and jewelry set are your something old and borrowed. These were my mother’s when she got married. I want you to wear them now, and I hope you’ll feel like a princess.” I said, placing the tiara on her head. She fixed the necklace and put on the earrings, and took her bouquet.

“I’m getting married!” she screamed. She was so happy, and I was happy for her.

“It’s time to go downstairs. Go sit on the couch and wait for the rest of us. I’ll bring you your shoes when we’re done, okay?” I said to her, ushering her downstairs. “Okay, ladies, this has to be perfect for her. Let’s not mess anything up. Everybody, get dressed, we’re going to a wedding!”
