Bella’s POV

I felt a thousand years old. My joints were stiff, my back ached, and my head throbbed. The hollow sound of my feet tapping against the wet pavement rang in my ears. I felt like I was barely moving, like it would take another thousand years to get to Charlie’s home. I would have gotten this all over with by now, if it wasn’t for Charlie. He’s been my lifeline, but even that string is warring thin.

I saw my home up ahead and unconsciously slowed my pace even further. I loved my father, how could I do this to him? I knew I would, no amount of arguing with myself would change my mind now, and it would only slow the inevitable. I don’t want to do this to him, I’m all he has left, but he’ll make it through. He always does. I owe it to him to say goodbye, it will hurt me, but against all that has happened in the past year, I’ll manage.

I climb the steps up my porch slowly, painfully. The door opens with a creak and I walk in to see Charlie watching a game in the living room. He turns to see me and his eye’s glaze over. I’d been doing better, with Jake by my side was almost normal, almost. Charlie must’ve thought all was getting better, and now this.

“ Charlie..”, I choke out, my eyes brimming with tears, “ Charlie.. Jake.. Jake .. He left.”

Charlie jumped up from the couch and wrapped his arms around me. I dug my face into his shoulder, a new wave of tears flooding out of me. I felt him choke a sob too, His shoulders slumped…he knew. He pushed me away to arms length. His eyes swept over my drenched form.

“ Oh, Bella.” He whispered.

I turned away unable to look at him anymore. I couldn’t tell Charlie the truth, it would hurt him so bad. So I did something, I’ve gotten rather good at..I lied.

“ I can’t do this anymore, Dad. I’m…I’m going to Alaska. I need to get away…”

He nodded his head and pulled out his wallet. He handed me his credit card. I felt my eyes brim..I would never use it.

“Bella, don’t be afraid to get whatever you need, and when your ready…come home.”

I turned away. Poor innocent Charlie.

“ Goodbye, dad.”

“Goodbye, Bella, I love you.”

Edwards POV

I tapped my fingers on the armrest…this plane was crawling. We were in the North America now, but Forks was still a good three hours away. Maybe If I jumped out, I could run from here…Alive grasped my arm.

“ Don’t…Don’t do anything stupid, Edward.” She hissed.

I relaxed my arm, and she relaxed her grip. If only Alice wasn’t here. Jasper was watching me from the corner of his eye, in the seat next to me. I was being guarded… this is ridiculous. I saw Jasper smirk as my resistance toward them grew. He was toying with me..Sending out calming vibes..Like I wouldn’t notice. I felt a growl rise in my throat.

The flight attendant flashed a grin at me, her eyes suspicious. I clenched my jaw as Jasper spoke.

“ He’s a little tense on planes.”

She nodded, like she understood and turned on her heal to go back toward the head of the plane. I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself…In three hours I would see Bella, only three hours, I could wait three hours, only three. Right?

Alice gasped, suddenly. I focused on her mind.

The same haze as before encompassed the scene. Bella still stood out. She was in a terminal. The sign at the top read, To Anchorage, Alaska. She was sitting calmly, she almost looked peaceful, tapping her finder on the arm rest… It hit Alice before it hit me.

“ Edward.” Alice’s voice was low and hurried, “ We’re on the wrong plane.”
