At the Beginning with You

Summary:
This is my take on Breaking Dawn, or at least what I hope will happen in the final book. It is told from Bella’s POV and in later chapters it may switch as needed to allow for that character to be completely understood.

“All right you two,” Alice called as she entered the room. “Time for photos.”

Ugh. I sighed as Edward stood up and pulled me along with him. I looked at him for some sort of support and he gave me that crooked little smile that melted my heart. We strolled along the yard, back to the site of the ceremony and met with our photographer. The photographer began snapping pictures of everything he could. While I was taking a photo with Edward, I remembered my disastrous eighteenth birthday and how distant Edward looked in the photo. I had no doubt that this photo would be better than the last one.

We took all of the customary photos. I took one between Charlie, Renee and Phil. Edward took one with his family. We took a family picture together, I took one with my bridesmaids and he with his groomsmen. I could not believe the sheer number of photos he took, I did remember that my favorite one, was where Edward and I placed our hands together by my bouquet and candles. It looked beautiful when he snapped it, I hoped that it would look as great when it was in print. When all of the staged photos were finished Edward and I headed back out to the reception site. Thankfully all of the guests were in the Cullen home enjoying cocktails.

One look at the reception site sent shivers down my back. Alice had once more worked her magic and transformed the other side of the Cullen’s massive back yard into another candle lit paradise. It was simply exquisite. There were round tables for four with only one minor exception, our parents would all sit together and that worked into a table of five. The round tables were covered with crimson cloths and there was an intricate center piece that rested in the center. The centerpieces were three foot high dark gray candelabras that had white taper candles surrounded by crimson and white roses. Below there were tiny, white votive candles, of different sizes, resting on mirrors. There were dark gray charger plates with clear plates on top. The napkins were crimson with white monograms on them.

After taking a good luck at the tables I turned full circle and shuddered in horror. There was a huge wooden dance floor in the middle of the tables. I was going to be forced to dance? Edward sensed my tension and pulled me closer to him.

“I won’t let you get hurt, you know that.” He whispered.

I continued to look at the floor and something gleamed off to the side. I looked up and saw a huge stage and below that on a platform stood Edward’s piano. I wondered if he would treat everyone tonight with his compositions. As I stood in awe, I had no doubt in my mind that Alice hadn’t listened to me completely and had indeed went overboard. I felt Edwards hands on my shoulder and I leaned my head into his chest.

“Alice says we need to disappear for a brief moment,” he whispered as I looked at him. “It’s only so that we can make our big entrance.”

“Couldn’t we just stay here?” I asked giving him my best puppy dog look. “I hate being the center of attention.”

“No, I think we should do what she asks.” He smiled. “Let’s go!”

“Okay.” I answered as we quickly strolled out of the sight of our guests who were starting to come to the reception site. I could hear the ooh’s and ahh’s of the guests as they found their seats. We huddled in the darkness away from prying eyes and I seized my opportunity to steal another amazing kiss from him.

“Are you ready to make your grand entrance?” Alice called as we broke apart.

“Yes.” Edward answered giving a swift look off in the direction of the site. “Are you ready, Bella?”

“I guess so.” Was all I could get out before he took my hand and led me from the shadows.

“Let’s go, you two.” Alice barked as she headed back to her spot on the main table.

Edward held my hand and kept pace with me the entire time. As we rounded the corner I was once more amazed by the beauty of Alice’s work.

“Ladies and gentlemen, could I please have your attention, it is my pleasure to present Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cullen.” Carlisle spoke with great pride.

I heard music begin to swell and glanced over at the stage. There was now a full band playing my lullaby. Edward turned and faced me and gave a graceful bow. I nodded back and he placed his hands delicately around my waist, and gracefully spun me out on the dance floor. I did my best to follow his lead and Edward noticed my look of horror. I felt him lift me, ever so slightly off the ground, and slide his feet under mine. That move made me remember my junior prom. Once more, we were really spinning. Never taking his eyes away from mine, he lowered me into the perfect dip and kissed my lips gently. I could feel the blood burn to my cheeks and he finally pulled me back up and pulled me as close as he could as my lullaby ended.

Once our dance was finished he led me over to the main table. I smiled as he held my chair out for me. He then seated himself at my right. Next to him was Rosalie and Emmett. On my left sat Alice and Jasper. I looked further out into the crowd and spotted our parents table and then found Billy, Sue and Seth Clearwaters table. Next to Billy there was an open chair, I knew that Edward had asked Alice to leave it open just incase Jacob decided to show up for the wedding. Once more my heart ached for my lost friend. Would I ever see him again? Billy caught me looking over at them and raised his glass to me in a toast, I smiled and raised my glass back to him.

It was interesting to watch all of the members of Edwards, and Tanya’s family, eat the dinner tonight. I remembered what Edward said about our food not looking very appealing to him. I looked at my plate and smiled. Alice had did a great job picking out the food, as well. Our guests were treated to a spinach salad with strawberry dressing, grilled steak or chicken breast served with onion risotto. Dessert would consist of an assortment of pastries served with a special coffee. I gazed in amazement as Edward, Emmett, Jasper, Rosalie and Alice ate their food with smiles on their faces.

“It’s good.” Edward whispered as he leaned in to speak with me, his eyes lacked that certain sparkle, I knew he was lying to me.

“Best food I’ve ever eaten.” I responded back as I felt Edward go rigid. I looked up and followed his gaze. My eyes focused on a tall figure out in the distance. Quickly I glanced over to Billy’s table and saw that his eyes were wide in shock. There stood the one person who could help make tonight a complete success, but only if he understood that I planned to be where I was, and be with who I was with…forever.

“Jacob.” I gasped as I turned and faced Edward.

“He’s not here to cause trouble.” Edward said as he smiled. “But I wouldn’t put it past him to try at least one last time.”

I looked over to the dark figure as I saw his hand motion me to come forward. I looked to Edward and he nodded that I should go and speak with him. I slowly stood up and walked out into the darkness, knowing that every eye was watching as I did so. I wouldn’t allow him to ruin my beginning with Edward, it was time to tell him goodbye.
