At the Beginning with You

This is my take on Breaking Dawn, or at least what I hope will happen in the final book. It is told from Bella’s POV and in later chapters it may switch as needed to allow for that character to be completely understood.

I continued to smile, allowing Edward to keep his lips on my hair. Jessica and Jacob walked off into the darkness and disappeared. Edward suddenly pulled my hand into his and spun me around. He pulled my hand to his lips and kissed it gently. I sighed and looked into his blazing topaz eyes. I loved, truly loved, the man standing before me.

“Bella?” Alice chimed in, breaking our embrace. “I think some of your guests are getting ready to leave. Perhaps you two should tell them goodbye.”

“Okay Alice.” I answered. “Edward, let’s go say goodbye to our guests.”

“Sure love.” He replied.

We went and stood by the exit of the reception area and waited to tell our guests goodbye.

“Thank you so much for celebrating with us tonight.” Edward said as he shook hands with Seth Clearwater.

“Thank you for inviting us,” Seth responded. “It was a very… umm… interesting night.” He winked.

“Bella, it was a great wedding.” Angela screamed as she hugged me wildly. “I can’t believe that you’re married! I know that you two will be happy.”

“Thanks Angela.” I responded, as I hugged her back.

“Congrats… Edward,” Mike said as he threw a shifty glance over to me. “Congrats to you too, Bella.”

“Thank you Mike.”

This display of goodbyes took forever. I tried my best to keep a smile on my face as our guests congratulated us and thanked us for inviting them to our wedding. It was always the same thing over and over… Good luck and have a happy and healthy future. I only blushed a few times during these exchanges; I would never get used to being the center of attention. My face reddened when Charlie came up to speak to us. I still remembered when we had the “talk” and how embarrassed I was when it had turned ugly when we told him of our engagement.

“You two have fun,” he whispered as he hugged me. “Enjoy your lives together.”

“We will, Dad.” I blushed. “We will enjoy our lives together. Don’t worry about anything.”

“I won’t. Don’t forget to remember us out here.” He smiled weakly.

“We won’t Dad.” Edward answered. “I’ll take good care of her.”

We stood there in silence. Finally, I managed to smile at him. I wanted to make sure to memorize every feature of his face.

“Dad, this isn’t goodbye, it’s a see ya later.” I lied. I knew it would be quite some time before I would get to see him again. I still planned to go through with my crusade to become immortal.

Once all of our guests had left, I looked over to see Alice, Emmett, Jasper and Rosalie loading luggage into the red convertible. Esme and Carlisle were loading their packed suitcases into his car. They noticed that I was looking at them and waved at me. I turned and looked at Edward, questioning him with my eyes. He smiled and looked at me, trying to suppress a laugh. I glanced back to the reception site and smiled weakly.

“What a mess.” I sighed.

“Don’t worry, Alice will have it cleaned up in no time.”

As the words were coming out of his mouth, I saw a black topped flash go past us. She was moving at super speed, cleaning everything as she went passed each table.

“Alice,” I whispered and the blur stopped beside me. “Thank you for everything. You really put on a great wedding. I owe you.”

“Yep!” She responded. “You owe me for two hundred years, and seeing as I owe you for one hundred years then I guess you only owe me for a hundred years.”

“Huh?” I looked at her. She leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. Edward stepped away, going to speak with Emmett and Jasper.

“I’ve got to get finished so we can leave.” Alice sang, as she returned to her light speed cleaning.

“Where are we going?” I questioned.

We’re not going anywhere.” She answered. “Rosalie, Emmett, Jasper and I are taking a road trip to Dartmouth. Carlisle and Esme are going away for the weekend, on a second honeymoon of sorts.”

I started to interrupt her, she held up one slim finger to stop me.

You and Edward will be getting some well deserved alone time, before you leave on your honeymoon.”

It dawned on me like a flash. They were leaving us here…alone. This excited me. I could only imagine what it would be like to have the house completely to ourselves. We would almost be like a normal newly wed couple. Almost… but not quite. My mind started rushing… thinking, about my last human request.

Would he go through with his promise?

“Bella, love,” Edward spoke. “We should tell our family goodbye. They’re leaving us for the weekend.”

Family. His family, now my family. My heart fluttered with the sound of his words. This was such an awesome feeling.

“Edward, Bella,” Carlisle spoke to me. “I guess we’re off. We’ll see you when you return from your honeymoon.”

“Yep! We’ll see you later.” Emmett hinted, winking his eye at me. “You be good.”

I blushed.

“Yes,” Edward spoke to his family. “We will see you when we return from our honeymoon.”

I hugged everyone, even Rosalie, goodbye. I waved as they all left the driveway headed for their different destinations.

“Edward,” I whispered. “Are you ever going to tell me when or even where we’re going for our honeymoon?”

“Soon.” He smiled.

Soon… what type of answer was that? I decided not to ask again. He wanted me to be surprised and I knew it would happen in the near future. Right now all I could do was close my eyes and dream of the alone time that I would now get with him. We headed into the house, taking a direct path to our room. I closed the door behind me… awaiting for him to fulfill his end of our deal.
