The Little Human

Set in New moon, after Edward leaves. Bella hasn't spoken in four months. She barely eats, she wakes each night screaming and Charlie is at his wit's end. Bella takes a walk in the woods, with the intention of taking her own life. Instead, she meets a woman, young and beautiful, who offers her everything she wants - needs - to get Edward back, without three days of screaming pain and an insatiable bloodlust. But there is a price. Bella must give up her voice, and then, she has three days to get Edward to prove his love for her. She agrees readily - after all, why would she need a voice when she hasn't spoken in four months, and if Edward still doesn't love her, she'll probably just kill herself anyway. So, the spell is performed, and Bella goes to sleep that night without any nightmares, eager for her new life to begin. However, the results aren't quite what she expected...

Yeah, I know, Little Mermaid rip-off Ok, I don't actually own a single copy of Twilight, New Moon or Eclipse. I know, *gasp* Shock horror, etc... But anywho, what I'm saying is that some of this might not be completely accurate, but I tried, ok? Just bear with me...

3 days earlier – Alice’s POV

“Alice? Alice?” Jasper whispered my name frantically in my ear. I shook my head slightly to disperse the mental images that remained from my vision.

I shot up suddenly, startling Jasper so much he fell off of the back of the bed, crashing to the ground.

His face was bewildered, and in any other situation I would’ve laughed ‘til my sides hurt, but this was not the time for laughing. This was the time for action.

Praying to Gods I didn’t believe in that Edward would forgive me, I dialled his number.

I was surprised, but glad when he answered his phone on the first ring. Ever since he’d left Bella, he’d been depressed, rarely answering his phone at all if he could help it.

“Hello?” I sighed sadly, he sounded so down.

“Edward…” I spoke softly, hesitantly, unsure of how he would take my news. “Edward, please don’t be mad, remember, I can’t always control my gift, and I know you told me not to look out for her but…”

“Alice, please, stop babbling. I know, you can’t control it, and I promise I will not be angry. Now, tell me, what did you see? Was it… her?” I smiled sadly.

My brother was dying inside, and he refused to save himself by going back to her, back to Bella.

Instead, he insisted we leave her be, let her be human. Well, our leaving had done nothing for her, as my vision had proven. I took a deep breath, and began to speak, my words pouring from my mouth in an unstoppable torrent.

“Yes, Edward, I had a vision about her, and… Well, look Edward, I know you want her to have a normal human life, but leaving her hasn’t worked – she’s going to… to kill herself Edward! She had a fight with Charlie, though admittedly a non verbal one, or, at least she’s going to, and then, she’s going to go into the woods, to the spot where you left her, and… and she’s going to hang herself! You have to stop her, or at least let us! Please Edward, I can’t lose my sister like that!”

I gasped, though I had no need for the oxygen I sought, and I heard his pain clearly in his next words.

“No… NO! Alice, she can’t! She promised she wouldn’t!”

“Just as you promised to love her for eternity…” I said coldly, the words and tone surprising even me.

I had to convince Edward to go back, to save Bella!

“I can’t – I couldn’t – I won’t take her life Alice!” Edward sobbed into the phone, but I could hear indescision colouring his tone. I softened mine, trying to soothe the inevitable blow.

“Edward, if you don’t go back… She won’t need you, she’ll take her own life.”

A terrible, horrifying silence where, for one horrible moment I thought he was going to let her die…

“I’ll do it. I’ll go back. I will save Bella, and, no matter the method, she will not die! I will make her mine!”
