The Little Human

Set in New moon, after Edward leaves. Bella hasn't spoken in four months. She barely eats, she wakes each night screaming and Charlie is at his wit's end. Bella takes a walk in the woods, with the intention of taking her own life. Instead, she meets a woman, young and beautiful, who offers her everything she wants - needs - to get Edward back, without three days of screaming pain and an insatiable bloodlust. But there is a price. Bella must give up her voice, and then, she has three days to get Edward to prove his love for her. She agrees readily - after all, why would she need a voice when she hasn't spoken in four months, and if Edward still doesn't love her, she'll probably just kill herself anyway. So, the spell is performed, and Bella goes to sleep that night without any nightmares, eager for her new life to begin. However, the results aren't quite what she expected...

Yeah, I know, Little Mermaid rip-off Ok, I don't actually own a single copy of Twilight, New Moon or Eclipse. I know, *gasp* Shock horror, etc... But anywho, what I'm saying is that some of this might not be completely accurate, but I tried, ok? Just bear with me...

I looked up, to see Edward’s gaze fixed on my face. I lost myself in his intense green eyes, filled with love, and pain.

Amazing – he could still dazzle me even when he wasn’t quite… Vampire anymore.

“You look different” He murmured after a moment. It broke the spell I was under, and I shook my head to clear he fog. He sniffed a little. “And you smell different too.”

I reached out a shaky hand to touch his cheek. Now he was inside, his skin was warm, and flushed with blood.

It suddenly hit me what had happened – The Mother of The Earth had not changed me into a Vampire as I had hoped – she had brought Edward back to life, made him human once more.

Edward grasped my hand, and slowly sat himself up. I grabbed my notepad and wrote:

Do you feel ok?

“Yes” Edward replied, frowning. “Bella, why aren’t you talking? Do you have a sore throat?” I shook my head, my heart throbbing as his face twisted in pain. “Bella, is this because I left you? You have every right to hate me, I expect you never want to see me again, but Alice saw you kill yourself, and I had to come and stop you. I couldn’t just let you die! I-I need you. I love you!”

I scoffed slightly.

Hadn’t he said that he didn’t love me?

Hadn’t he left me?

How could he expect me to believe that he loved me after everything he’d said?

He looked deep into my eyes as if he could read my thoughts, see all the way to my soul. He took my hands in his, his voice becoming low and urgent.

“Please Bella, you have to believe me. I didn’t leave because I don’t love you. In fact, the very opposite, I love you so much I was in physical pain every second I was away from you. I need you Bella, you’re the only thing I can’t survive without. You are my heart, my spirit my soul. Please, forgive me Bella. I'm not asking for you to love me, I don’t deserve it after everything I’ve done to you. Bella, please, let me be a part of your life. Let me be your friend, your classmate? Please Bella, let me be near you, and perhaps one day, I can earn back your trust?” The words came out in one desperate flow, as if he could no longer contain them inside of himself.

I shook my head, and he took it as no, and hid his face in his hands.

“I knew it was stupid of me to leave, but I truly though I was doing the right thing! I thought that if I left you, you could live a normal, human life. I didn’t expect you to commit suicide!”

He glanced up at me again, agony in his eyes, and I handed him the notebook I had just finished writing in, my face impassive…
