12. Month 2, Part 1

“Are you sure you don’t want to take a walk or something?” Emmett asked me, sitting down with a weird expression on his face. I rolled my eyes,

“Yes, I’m sure. I’m going to stay in this exact spot until Edward gets back.” I snapped. After all, I was trying to prove a point. Emmett was my babysitter for the day-he was the first to volunteer. If I stayed in the exact spot I was sitting when Edward left (on the family room couch) until he came back he would see how much of a horrible time I was having with babysitters.

Okay….so maybe I was over reacting a little bit. It was these stupid hormones-they were driving me up the wall. And unlike my fake emotional attack last month at the air port, I was getting real ones. Poor Jasper, he couldn’t handle all of my emotions. When he tried to calm me down each time, it only lasted one minute before I would get riled up again.

And I don’t think you had to be Jasper to know that right now, I was peeved.

“Okay…but Edward is going to kill me.” he mumbled, still sitting on the couch next to me.

“You volunteered.” I reminded him. He shrugged,

“Yeah, I guess.” He smiled at me, “don’t you think you are over reacting just a tiny-” he began, hesitant at first.

“No. I do not think I am over reacting. I think I am even under reacting. Imagine having your hormones all screwed up and having to throw up every morning! And then there is the getting huge part, as well as no running and moving at human speed for 7 more months. And I can’t control my emotions! Would you think then that I am over reacting? Because I don’t! Especially with babysitters watching me?! I didn’t ask for any of this! And now I think I’m GOING TO GO INSANE!!!!” I exclaimed, jumping up from my spot. So much for making a point…well, I guess I made a different one to Emmett.

He jumped, and now I think he realized that what he said was the wrong thing to say. “Going to go insane?” he asked me, on the verge of either laughing or running away screaming.

“Oh, Emmett I’m so sorry!” I slumped back down, suddenly I felt myself crying. What was going on with me? But I couldn’t control it at all.

“Bella, it’s okay.” He hesitated before putting his arm around me, making sure I wouldn’t blow up again. I shook my head sadly,

“No-no it’s not okay. I really didn’t mean to yell at you! I don’t know what’s happening to me!” I continued to cry.

“Bella, really-it’s relatively…er…normal to do this. You can get a hold of your emotions-I know you can.” He said with a soft big brother gentleness that made me calm down.

“I’m so sorry.” I mumbled.

“It’s okay.” He insisted.

“Thank, Em.” I smiled warily up at him. He nodded,

“No problem, sis.” He grinned and hugged me.

“We’re home!” I heard Alice announce as she skipped to Emmett and I. We of course already knew this but she wanted a excuse to yell anyway.

“Did you have fun?” Jasper grinned at Emmett. Emmett threw a pillow at him after giving him a dirty look but answered,

“Yes, thank you very much. Bella was fairly easy to watch. She stayed in the same spot the whole time.” he said. I had my arms crossed over my stomach as Edward rounded the corner.

“Hello!” he greeted us. My frown made him stop in his tracks.

“Did I do something wr-” he muttered turning to Jasper. He held out is hands to say stop and took a step away from Edward,

“Don’t get me involved.” He said. Edward turned to Kate, who shrugged. Then he looked at Emmett as a last resort….but all Emmett did was grin. Edward shot him a look before turning to me.

“Bella-” he began. All I did was get up, as Emmett tried to help me, and walk swiftly out of the room.

“I’d say you’re in trouble.” Jasper said to him. I heard Alice add,

“And hormones aren’t on your side.”

If Edward knew what was good for him, he would follow me outside. I opened the back door and closed it, not slamming it because it wasn’t my house-and because the door may have flown off if I did.

I ran a few miles away, using up my ‘run of the day’. Well….technically I already ran today-but at this point I didn’t really care.

“Bella!?” Edward called a mile away. I didn’t answer him. I just sat on a rock and waited. I looked down at my stomach as he walked towards me.

“I’m sorry.” He said to me kneeling down so that we were in front of each other.

“For what?” I tested him, not looking up.

“I am sorry for being so over protective. From now on, you don’t need somebody to look over you if you don’t wish it so. You have to understand, darling, I was just afraid of you fainting or needing help when I wasn’t there. What if something happened to you and I wasn’t there? Bella, I love you too much to let anything happen to you.” he pleaded for me to understand. I looked up,

“Alright.” I smiled. He looked confused. I got up, “I have no idea why I was even that mad anymore!” I laughed. He didn’t laugh at all. “Edward, I don’t like the mood changes as much as you do, if not more. It just comes with the whole pregnancy thing.” I shrugged. Suddenly I felt my legs being lifted up off of the ground and me being swung into Edward’s arms swiftly.

“I love you too much, my little lovely love.” he grinned as I giggled. He carried me back to the house at human speed, just to spend more time with me in his arms. This time, I didn’t mind human speed in the slightest.

I wandered downstairs, marveling in the freedom of finally being able to go down stairs without a person following me (in case I fell).

“Bella, how are you feeling?” Alice asked me as I came into the sitting room.

“I’m fine…morning sickness hasn’t hit me yet…but Carlisle says I still have a month of it left.” I grimaced at the last part and sat next to her. She was holding her small silver cell phone in one hand, watching TV. I noticed after a while she was really on edge-she couldn’t sit still. Sitting still is what vampires did best-humans always moved around.

“What did you see?” I asked her suddenly, turning to look at her. I took the remote and shut the TV off. She looked startled,

“What? Oh-uh-nothing, Bella.” She said quickly, grabbing the remote and turning the TV back on. I snatched it back and shut it off again.

“Alice,” I warned, “Don’t get me upset or-” I couldn’t finish my threat.

“Relax, Bella. Fine-I’ll tell you. I’m awaiting a phone call.” She explained. I eyed her,

“From who?” I asked her skeptically.

“From a friend in,” she sighed, “Volterra.” She admitted, crossing her arms because her secret was out.

“Volterra? Who are you friends with in Volterra?” I asked, surprised.

“An insider-a Volturi member. You see, Chelsea’s power doesn’t work on him-though Aro doesn’t know. He is an unknown traitor to the Volturi. I’ve known him for a while-he helped me get to you and Edward a few years ago when we were there. All I did was ask him if he could tell us anything that the Volturi is planning that would have to do with us…because those visions have been increasing each week.” she explained to me. I could tell that she and I both didn’t like the last part.

“What was the most recent vision you have seen?” I asked her, afraid of the answer. I’ve noticed that Edward had been a little tense today too.

“It was burnt…and the vision keeps on changing. They haven’t made up their mind yet-it’s as if they are waiting for confirmation on if you’re pregnant or something. They need proof that there really is a reason they should come here. In a way, I don’t think they know anything yet. Because I can’t see what they are going to do, since they have no idea what they will do, there is no way to tell what will happen from a vision. I need William to call me back so we are a few steps ahead of them.” she said, glancing back at her cell phone.

“Oh.” Now I couldn’t sit still either. We both sat, looking at her cell phone in hopes that sound would come out of it, indicating a new call. Alice jumped at a vision she had, and opened the phone before it rang.

“William.” She greeted him. I listened to the phone conversation carefully.

“Alice, how are you?” he asked her.

“I’d be better if you have any information.” She hinted.

“Si, I do,” he began as I perked up, “They were thinking of sending somebody to Denali to check up on everyone.” My eyes widened,

“When?” I whispered as Alice said the question into her phone at the same time.

“About two months I believe. They have no idea what is happening over there, only that they want to know. And having thirteen, well skilled and equipped, vampires in the same place doesn’t help matters much.” He answered. Alice shrugged, knowing that already.

“Who will they send?” she asked him, biting her lip.

“Demetri.” He answered. I heard Alice let a tiny hiss slip out of her, but she controlled herself. She had a vision before she talked back into the phone.

“I can’t see that….Its burnt again. Tell me, William-do they have some type of new vampire on their guard? One that Aro may keep close to him, besides his body guard?” she asked curiously.

“Actually, yes there is a new vampire. Aro changed him a few months ago…he was a derelict. Very messed up in the head. I tend to stay away as much as I can-he had the ability to keep things from people when he was human…I believe that was why Aro had him changed.” He explained.

“Does this vampire have a power?” she asked him. William sounded confused at why Alice was asking but he answered anyway,

“Yes…it is very unique. He can block out people from anything Aro doesn’t want people to know. For instance, I walked into the room, apparently there was some sort of meeting, and the vampire had a blurred wall around Aro, Marcus, Caius, Demetri, and himself. I couldn’t see them clearly, and the sound was muffled. It’s useful to Aro, though.” He said.

“Well, doesn’t that explain things,” Alice murmured mostly to herself, “Thank you so much, William, for all of your help. If there is anything new, please call me.” she said to him.

“You are very welcome, Alice. Of course I will call you. Arrivederci.” And with that they both hung up.

“He has been kept close to Aro to block out your visions. That is why they have been burnt, non-moving pictures-” I began, Alice finished,

“And why the visions that have been moving have muffled voices and were blurry. I was wrong-they have some plans set, I just can’t see them. That stupid idiotic vampire,” she snarled, “is blocking everything from me-like the werewolves.” she sounded frustrated and terrified by the idea of not being able to see the Volturi anymore.

I swore and got up from the couch, “Edward!?” I yelled, not caring that he could probably hear me without yelling. He was in the garage, and I heard him drop some type of tool immediately and run into the house.

I stayed where I was, and I let Alice do the explaining with her thoughts. Edward swore under his breath-it was a word that I had never heard him say around me since I knew him.

“Bella.” He said to me as I collapsed in his arms. What was going to happen to us, now that Alice couldn’t see visions of the Volturi anymore?
