Daunting Thank you, Marauder by Midnight, for the banner 3rd and last story in the 'Life in Love' series Sequal to 'Possibilities' "This is what we have been waiting for. This was the formidable fight. This was something that I wasn’t sure we were even going to win. Each pair of daunting red eyes stared back at me, filled with hope that they would win. Hoping, just like us, that they would live."

“Think think think!!!” Alice stared at me as I paced back and forth outside. She was leaning against a rock, completely untroubled.

“Bella,” she began, “you shouldn’t pressure yourself. Edward would kill me if he found out I was even letting you pace wildly like this.” She said.

I rolled my eyes, “I’m not pacing wildly.” I objected. The sky was cloudy, and even though I shouldn’t be walking around a lot it was only a month since I found out I was pregnant.

Carlisle had explained that because he had never run into something like this, a vampire getting pregnant, I had to take extra precautions. For instance, I could only go running once a day and it couldn’t even be very fast or very far. And I shouldn’t move in top vampire speed or even hunt by myself. Just to prevent a miscarriage or still birth.

I did so not sign up for any of this.

Anything I could get away with, I did.

“Sure you aren’t…” her voice trailed off. She scrutinized my outfit-un fortunately I had to buy all new maternity clothes (though I didn’t have to wear any of them until a few months from now), and of course when I say ‘I had to’ I mean ‘Alice wanted to’. So, all of my new clothes that I was forced to wear were designer things.

“I didn’t buy that.” she said to me. I smiled and turned to her,

“I know. I did. I can’t wear pink and purple every day, Alice. Some dark blue would be nice too. Without sparkles and bows.” I said to her. I had on a pair of jeans and a plain navy blue shirt on. It was a tiny bit bigger than my regular size.

She snorted, “enjoy wearing that once. I’m throwing it out after your done.” She mumbled. I decided to change the subject,

“Alice, can’t you give me the slightest hint about the gender???” I asked her, stomping my foot, donned with a sneaker, on the ground. I shuddered when I realized that in a few months I wouldn’t be able to see my feet at all….which meant either Edward or Alice had to help me.

“Nope. Think of two names. I’m going to respect Edward’s wishes and not even have a vision about it. You know, back when he was human there were no such things as a physic vampire or ultra sounds for that matter-not that an ultra sound would do any help, since you’re a vampire in all…..nope, I guess I’m your only ticket to finding out if you have a boy or a girl. Too bad that ship already sailed.” She smiled. I glared at her before going back to my thinking of names.

“You should not hold a grudge against people if they just refused, for a day, to wear a shirt you picked out for them.” I pointed out. She glared back,

“It’s never happened before.” She snapped.

“I wish Edward would help me out with this name thing! I can’t think of anything!” I complained. Edward was on a hunting trip, and had Alice baby sit me.

“You have till May, Bella. Its only September 12th.” She pointed out. I sighed and sat on a rock next to her.

“I suppose so. I don’t know, I guess I’m one of those people that likes to be prepared as much as possible when I don’t know what to expect. I’m being silly.” I said to her.

She smiled and put a hand on my shoulder, “Bella, I know you’re completely freaked out about this. I would be too. But you will be just fine. I’m sure whether it’s a little boy or a little girl your baby will love you.” she assured me.

“How did you know that that was what I was afraid about?” I asked her.

“I’m psychic Bella.” She laughed.

“Right.” I smiled, feeling stupid.

“Trust me; you aren’t the only one who wants to know the gender. Esme wants to make the nursery before you give birth, but it’s impossible if you don’t know what to put in the room.” Alice laughed.

I looked at my feet before getting up. Alice followed me back to the house at human speed like there was an invisible rope that attached the two of us together.

“You know Alice; I’m not going to bolt out of the state running away from here if you take your eyes off of me for a second.” I said as we walked into the house through the back sliding glass door. “Though, I’m not going to lie, it has crossed my mind more than once.”

“I know-I’d see it coming. I’m just following Edward’s orders.” She skipped lightly to my side as I wandered into the family room, where Rosalie and Tanya were sitting, watching TV.

“Omphf.” I mumbled as I sat down on something. I hope I didn’t break it. It was the channel changer I sat on. Luckily, it was un-harmed. I bet it was Emmett who set it here carelessly. Alice quickly grabbed it out of my hands, not wanting me to get up again.

“Alice, really I’m not that fragile. I can’t die or anything-and I can get up just fine.” I said, mumbling.

“Whatever you say, Bella.” She had a smug smile on her face-I was going to be labeled fragile for the next 8 months. Wonderful.

This kid better love me, for what torture I’m being put through.

“Bella, really. Listen to Carlisle.” Rosalie said to me. She had been surprisingly nice about the situation. Almost…overly protective. I was afraid that maybe she would take my baby and see it as her own-which I had no objection with (spoiling him or her wouldn’t be avoided no matter what I did), as long as it didn’t get out of hand.

I ignored her comment, “what is that?” I asked Tanya. She had some type of book in her hand and Rosalie was looking at it too.

“Oh, this old thing? It’s just a photo album. Rose and I were trying to find…er-” Alice gave Tanya a look, and it looked like Tanya was trying to find different words, “something, and while we were in the basement we found this.” Tanya said. Alice gave an approving nod.

“What’s going on?” I asked them suddenly.

“Nothing, why would you think something was going on?” Rosalie asked, too innocently.

“I’ll figure it out, you know. It will give me something to think about besides names.” I said to the three of them before walking out of the room.

“Bella, have you become paranoid now that you’re pregnant?” Alice asked me, jumping off of the arm rest of the white couch and following me, once again, up the stairs. Ever since the whole fainting thing I couldn’t go up or down a flight of stairs without somebody behind me.

“No, I think I’ve become more aware, personally. And everyone else has become paranoid. Tanya and Rose were trying to find something down in the basement that most likely you sent them for, and I couldn’t know about it.” I shrugged. Alice stopped for a moment and I continued to the room I shared with Edward.

Alice sped up so she was next to me again, “you won’t guess right anyway, I looked in your future.” She smiled smugly again as I walked over to the floor length mirror.

“You’d look better in a nice, designer, pretty dress that I picked out with some nice stiletto heels, you know.” Alice said to me. I rolled my eyes at her,

“Yeah, okay, sure.” I muttered sarcastically. My stomach had grown a tiny bit, making it only evident that I was pregnant if you looked very closely.

“That’s my cue to leave.” Alice smiled as Edward, Emmett, Jasper, Carlisle, and Eleazar walked through the front door, after a day of hunting.

“Edward, she’s going to puke in a minute.” Alice whispered to Edward before he walked in the room to see me.

“Nice to see you too, Alice.” He said to her before walking towards me.

“Great.” I groaned. I suddenly did get a feeling of sickness. I felt my stomach lurch, and I ran to the bathroom. I puked in the toilet as Edward held my hair back. This seemed to be a routine every early morning or afternoon.

After I was done I splashed water on my face in the sink and Edward handed me a small wash cloth.

“Hi Edward.” I smiled warily up at him. He put his arms around me,

“Hello, love. How was your day with Alice?” he asked me.

“Oh just lovely. I had my own personal babysitter. It was great.” I rolled my eyes.

“It’s for our baby and your safety, Bella. I trust you wouldn’t do anything that Carlisle has warned you not to do. I’m just afraid of you fainting again.” He explained.

“It’s not going to happ-” I started to say.

“Bella, you don’t have any control over it. If you land the wrong way we don’t know what that could do. I know you are a vampire and you are indestructible-but I just want you to be safe. It happened two days ago, at any rate.” He reminded me. I had fainted while watching Esme paint a new picture-I narrowly avoided yellow paint on my face, or at least that’s what they told me. I managed to get pink and green paint in my hair, though. I stuck out my tongue at him,

“Fine...” I sighed un-happily at him.

“I love you, Bella.” He said, his golden eyes looking into my dull red ones.

“I love you too.” I said to him, “even if you and the family are hiding something from me.” I added before he raised one eyebrow and then kissed me. I heard a growl come from Alice’s room.
