Edward's POV

When I found Bella once again, she was talking with an asian girl. Her thoughts were all revolved around Bella and I, how cute we looked together. I liked this girl already. She never had any thoughts about my looks. When I was next to Bella, I snaked an arm around her waist and smiled at the girl.

"Lane, this is my fiance, Edward. Edward, this is my best friend, Lane." Bella introduced us.

"It's very nice to meet you." I said, shaking her hand.

"It's very nice to meet you too." She told me in a small, light voice. Hmm. I could get used to her.

"Lane's a drummer. She loves Jane's Addiction." Bella added. Well, at least we had something in common. I loved Jane's Addiction, as odd as that sounds.

"Are you in a band?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm in one with my boyfriend and his friends. Well, our friends." She corrected herself.

"Lane lives with the guys." Bella explained.

"How does that work out for you?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It's contionously awkward." She informed me, smiling. Seems like a nice enough guy... she thought.

"I'm just going to go talk to Emmett." I told Bella, kissing her forehead. I turned to Lane.

"Nice talking to you."

"Same here." She answered. Bella and her started up their conversation again, glancing at me here and there. I chuckled and shook my head, willing myself not to look into Lane's thoughts. I would let them have their private moment.

Rory/Bella POV

"I completely approve." Lane told me once she thought Edward was out of hearing range. I glanced at him and saw him snicker a bit. I rolled my eyes.

"He's perfect for you, Rory!"

"I think I'll keep him." I shrugged.

"If you don't, I will." She joked.

"Thanks for the warning." I said, sarcastically. I then looked around.

"Hey, where's your mom?"

"Oh, she had a last minute bible study. She had to be over at the Long's house by eight." She explained.

"I thought she hated the Long's." I said, confused.

"Oh, she does. She says there rude, un- holy people who have no sense of Christ." She said, in a deeper, sharper voice. "But they make great food."

"Oh, sure." I said, lightly, smiling. I missed her.

"Hey, did I see your Mom puking in Luke's garbage earlier...?" She asked, trailing off.

"Yes, you did. She's having the baby blues." I said, grinning slyly.

"Baby?" She sqeaked.

"Uh-huh." I laughed. "She's officially pregnant."

"With a baby?" Lane asked in disbeleif.

"No, a weasel." I said, very seriously.

"This is big!" Lane giggled.

"I know, I'm going to be a sister!" I squealed.

"How fun." She said, sarcastically. We sat in silence for a little while. I just sat there, basking in the presence of my best friend.

"Oh, I'm so glad I'm here!" I squealed, hugging her close.

Edward Cullen

Bella looked so happy, surrounded by all her friends and family. Lane was very nice, I liked her a lot. I was scouting the room for a familiar face. Emmett was chatting up 'Potato Man', excitedly. He was fascinated with him. Rosalie was speaking with Miss Patty about her dance school and such. Jasper was in an in depth conversation with Babet's husband, Morey, about some sort of Jazz group that was apparently very popular. Esme was talking to Babet about her home and decor. Apparently, Babet needed her doorway to be sized. It was too small for Morey to walk through. Carlisle was having a very awkward conversation with Luke. They were on the topic of the weather last time I heard. Alice was having tons of fun though, she had recently gone to hang out with Lane and Rory. I saw Lorelai, sitting on the curb, looking very absorbed in her own thoughts. Well. Its her or Jess. I'm going with her.

"Hi, Lorelai." I smiled, softly.

"Oh, hey, Edward." She said, a little distracted.

"Something the matter?" I asked.

"No, just....thinking." She mumbled.

"Any specific topic?" I prodded, sitting next to her.

"Umm....Hockey puck, rattlesnake, monkey, monkey, underpants." She said, off the top of her head.

"Thats quite a train of thought." I smiled.

"I'm quite a train conducter." She answered. I chuckled. I now see where Bella gets her good sense of humor from.

"Hey, Lorelai?" I asked, quietly.

"Yeah, Shady?" She responded.

"How long were Rory and Jess together?" I asked, feeling incredibly small.

"Ah, you're still worrying about that?" She looked a little sympathetic.

"A little." I admitted.

"Don't worry, kid. That was a long time ago. Jess is a master manipulator and Rory, is well, Rory. She likes to find the good in people. In her eyes, Jess was a misunderstood, lonely New Yorker who deserved a chance. To everyone else, he was a no good, dirty, rotten delinquent who was taking advantage of our Rory." She explained.

"Hmmm." I grunted.

"But you know which one he really was?" She asked, smiling.

"I think I can guess." I answered, smling back.

I can also see where Bella gets her heart.
