Chris’s POV

I paced around the attic nervously. I shouldn’t have left the others like that, especially Bella. She got hurt and it was my fault. I should have stayed to help her, but no. Instead I ran like a coward. There was no doubt in my mind that that dark lighter was after me.

“You Jerk” I whispered to myself. “If you had stayed then you could have helped the sisters and Bella.”

I shook my head angry at myself. God I hope she forgives me.

Bella’s POV

We were all orbed into the manor, and we landed in the attic. Chris was there pacing a hole in the floor. Well not literally, but he mine as well have. He looked up with relief and pulled me into a fierce hug. It was flattering, really but I wasn’t ready to forgive him just yet.

I pulled away and glanced up at Edward for a second. His expression sullen he looked away. This entire thing was going to be more complicated then I had imagined.

“So how are we going to find the dark lighter?” Alice asked. I smiled despite everything and turned to the sisters.

“We scry for them.” I answered going over to the map and crystal. “Paige did you happen to catch something of his?” she nodded bringing over a weird looking ring. It had a scorpion engraved into it.

“He dropped it when piper tried to blow him up.” She said. I nodded taking the ring.

“Can you guys make a vanquishing potion?” I asked. Piper and Paige nodded. “Good. We’ll call you if we need anything.” Phoebe went over to the book of shadows. Piper and Paige left, and the Cullens just stood there starring at us.

“So what exactly are we doing?” Esme asked. I looked up from the map.

“Scrying for the dark lighter.” I answered.

“And I’m looking for the symbol on the ring to see if it means anything.” Phoebe added.

The Cullens stood there awkwardly, trying not to get in our way.

“Hey Alice why don’t you help Phoebe, You two can talk about the future after all you both share the same gift to see it.” They glanced up at each other in surprise.

“You have visions?” Alice asked incredulous. Phoebe nodded, and then shrugged.

“Premonitions actually” Alice skidded over to Phoebe’s side and looked down at the book.

“What is this?” she asked curious.

“The book of shadows” Phoebe answered then hesitated before she continued. “Go ahead touch it.” I gasped quietly also anticipating this moment. If the book of shadow let Alice touch it then Alice was considered good, if it didn’t then she was considered evil. Edward glanced at me knowingly, he must have read Phoebe’s mind. Alice reached out for the book and flipped the page. Both Phoebe and I let out a long sigh. Alice was good.

I turned back to the map and picked up the crystal. I rubbed it against the ring so it would find the dark lighter. Then I began to swing it around slightly careful so that I could feel it pull. I heard the foot steps of Carlisle approaching me, but I didn’t look up afraid of what I would see in his eyes.

“So Bella…” he started “how have you been?” I shrugged trying hard not to show any emotions.

“Fine I guess.” I said “Fine for someone who found out that she was a demon fighting witch.” I quipped. He laughed and nodded.

“Yeah I guess I am surprise that you haven’t gone completely insane.” I looked up and grinned at him. His face was warm and showed care.

“Who said that I wasn’t?” I asked jokingly. Then I turned to see that Chris was walking over here. Carlisle slipped away to let us have a bit of privacy. I continued watching the crystal, trying to ignore his presence.

“What Christopher?” I asked flatly.

“Look I’m sorry for what happened earlier. I didn’t mean to leave like that. It was cruel of me to leave you there after taking a shot for me.” I whirled on him angrily.

“Yes, your damn right it was.” I whispered.

“Bella, I…”

“Save it Chris.” I spat loudly. “Because I know that if you cared a damn about me you wouldn’t have left like that.” Everyone in the room was watching the two of us. Chris shifted embarrassed.

“I knew that you would have been okay.” He pleaded. “I knew Leo had it under control.” I glared at him almost furious now.

“And what if Leo had been hit, too, huh? What would happened then Chris?” I asked searching his face for an answer. “What if I would have died? What would you’ve done then?” He remained silent, as the crystal pulled to a stop. I glanced down at the map and the location of the dark lighter. I looked back at Chris. “I have work to do.” I gestured over to the Cullens and Phoebe. “Come on let’s go see if Piper and Paige have that potion ready.”
