Phoebe’s POV

Leo and I headed into the lawyer’s office. I was anticipating the signing of the divorce but dreading Cole. I hated him, there wasn’t any love left in me for him. He sat there in the chair next to the one I was supposed to be in right now. I hesitated before sitting; Cole looked over at me and smiled brightly.

“Phoebe” he said happily, I glared at him not wanting to even look at him.

“Cole” I replied flatly. Leo stood behind my chair his hands on my shoulders supportively.

“Alright let me get this straight you two were married for what two months?” the lawyer said eyeing the two of us. I nodded, not even casting as glance at him.

“Fine then let’s get this over with” he said looking down at the divorce papers.

Bella’s POV

When we arrived back at the manor, Chris was still there sitting on the couch. I rolled my eyes still angry.

“What happened?” he asked standing. I didn’t answer looking away.

“Someone vanquished him for us, only we aren’t sure why or who.” She turned to Paige and the said something to each other that I couldn’t quite hear. Edward stood next to me and I suddenly felt his arm wrap around my shoulder soothingly. Chris glared at him angrily, but I didn’t care. If Chris gave a damn about me then he was going to have to make up for abandoning me before, until then. I leaned into Edward tired.

“Paige is going to hit the book” Piper said taking command. Alice stepped in worriedly. We had dropped off everyone except for Edward, Alice, and Jasper.

“What about Phoebe?” She asked. I smiled despite what’s been going on. Alice was starting to like phoebe, and that pleased me. I lifted my head off of Edward’s shoulders about called out.

“Leo!” He orbed in within seconds Phoebe with him. She looked pissed, really pissed.

“You okay?” I asked hesitant. She shook her head and sighed.

“No, I’m not.” She said letting go of Leo. “He won’t sign the divorce papers. The bastard.” She pointed to herself. “After all he’s put me through you’d think that he’d give me this.” Piper embraced her.

“I’m sorry.” Pulling away phoebe sighed again.

“So what’s up?” she asked. Piper grabbed her hand leading her into the kitchen, gesturing for Leo to follow. I knew what she was doing she was giving me, Chris and Edward time alone. Alice followed them looking to me with a brave smile and winked.

It was quiet for a time without anyone else there, awkward. Finally I stepped away from Edward and turned so that I could look at the two of them.

“Edward” I started gathering my thoughts. “You hurt me when you left all those years ago and even though it was years, I had just gotten over it when Chris came.” I glanced at Chris leaning against the couch with his arms crossed, unlike Edward’s posture where he was standing up straight. “But Chris you hurt me earlier when I jumped in to take that arrow and you did nothing to help me…that really stung.”

“I knew Leo would take care of you Bella what more do you want from me?” He demanded. I starred at him officially hurt. All I could see in his eyes right now was fury, no pain, no sorrow…fury. “You know I can’t heal.”

“You can heal Chris, you know that.” I snapped. “But we both know that it only starts when you heal someone you love, which…” I trailed off now realizing something. “If Edward had been in your place Chris, if he was you he would have healed me, or at least tried.” Edward shifted uncomfortably as Chris through him a glare.

“You don’t know that!” Chris cried. Edward’s head shot up then and he pinned Chris with a glare.

“I most certainly would Chris!” he boomed as if infuriated that someone had accused him of not saving my life. “Unlike you I wouldn’t even have hesitated. I would have been mad that she had taken a shot for me, in fact I am. That she thought you precious enough to save. Tell me Chris did you tell Bella of the girl your in love with in the future? Did you tell her that you were engaged? No, I thought not.” Edward looked to me with sorrowful eyes. A ping shot through me as this information hit.

“You have no right!” Chris started but I shot him a glare.

“Christopher I don’t know what hurts more. The fact that you lied to me or the fact that you were planning to just go back to the future forgetting that nothing happened.” I felt a tear run down my face. Chris took a step forward, but I backed away from him really hurt. “No, don’t touch me. As far as I can tell, I don’t ever what to speak to you again.” I turned and ran up the stairs tears streaming down my face. Why was my luck with men so terrible?
