Bella’s POV

We sat there staring at each other for minutes that seemed like hours. I didn’t know what to say or how to start. This was going to either be the final end to our relationship or the start of it. And I wasn’t sure what to choose. I love Edward, still do, and always will, but he hurt me.

“Thank you.” I started bravely. His brow furrowed and he cocked his head.

“For what,” he asked skeptical. I scoffed.

“For telling me the truth about Chris for one, I would have never known had you not told me.”

“That’s not true; he might have decided to tell you sometime soon.” I shook my head disagreeing.

“No, I know Chris; he likes to keep his personal life hidden from people.” I paused to breath.” When we started dating I knew that it would be a struggle and that it would be hard to make him open up to me, I mean when he came here he tried to pass as a full white-lighter and didn’t tell us that he was piper and Leo’s son.”

“Don’t take this the wrong way, but why did you then? If you knew that he had already hidden a relatively large secret from you, you couldn’t tell that he could hide an even bigger one?” He asked and then sobered. “Sorry that was rude and mean.” I shook my head.

“No, you’re right-as usual. I did think about it, but I took the chance because I thought he deserved a second chance. Whoa, was I stupid or what?” Tears ran down my cheek. He brushed them away and then took my hands in his.

“You’re not stupid Bella, just kind and trusting. Too trusting at times. You did the right thing by giving him that chance, but you could have also given it to him in some other way. By the way that you explain it, it seems to me that you felt that giving yourself to him was the only way.” He looked up into my eyes then. “Bella did you sleep with him?” My breath hitched as I searched my head for a distraction, but Edward caught on quickly and before I could compose myself he was wrapping his arms around me in a hug. “It’s okay Bella, I’m not mad.”

“But it was stupid. You’re supposed to tell me that it was a bad judgment, and that you hate me for it.” He chuckled at me and rested his chin on my head.

“I could never hate you Bella,” He said seriously. I closed my eyes and bit my lip to keep from crying.

“Why not,” I pulled away abruptly and stood up. “Why Edward? Why aren’t you angry at me? Why in gods name do I still love you so damn much after all these years? Now, when you find out that I gave myself to an engaged man, you’re still in love with me. I just need to know why, why you want to be with me.” I sniffed watching him as he stared back at me bemused.

“Bella you honestly think that I shouldn’t love you?” He asked standing up with me. “It should be the other way around, how in the world would you want me after what I did to you? That is what I want to know Bella.” I swallowed.

“If you hadn’t left I wouldn’t have met the sisters, or discovered that I’m a witch. All the innocents I saved would be dead, and the demons I’ve vanquished would still alive and killing. That’s why I forgive you Edward, that’s why I still love you. And even if all that wouldn’t have happened, if I had grown old and was on my death bed and you came back, I’d still love you. I always will.” He came forward and wrapped his arms around my waist and brushed a gentle kiss against my lips softly.

“I love you, too.” He said. Standing on my tip toes I crushed my lips against his and wrapped my arms around his neck. I had forgotten how good he tasted, so icy and lush, pure bliss.
