Chapter 6 -Elaine's Point of View-

"Well, when I was eleven, my mom sent me to my uncle's farm in Boston. My mother didn’t want me to catch the influenza. She tried to send Edward too. But he refused to leave, saying he had to finish school. He was sixteen at the time.

-Flashback- Chicago, 1917-

"Edward, Elaine, please go pack your things." Said Mrs. Masen, a slightly aged woman with bright green eyes and golden hair. Elaine silently obeyed and wished she had the strength to argue like her brother.

"Mother, I told you, Elaine and I need to stay here and finish school. I promise we won't go out for any other reason, we'll stay healthy. I swear." shouted her brother Edward. He was a tall boy with slightly messy bronze hair, and the same eyes as their mother. "Edward Anthony Masen, I am not going to listen to this. Go and gather your things!" Elaine looked on, crying without a sound. She looked exactly like her brother, except much shorter and her long hair was pulled back into a single braid.

After almost an hour of hearing them fight Elaine finally said something.

"Mother, please, just let him stay. If you do, I'll go quietly and stay with Uncle Benjamin long as you want."

Elizabeth Masen sighed, "Fine."

Edward interrupted, "But Ellie-"

"No Edward, this is the final word." Mrs. Masen walked away into her room.

"Ellie, I can't let you go by your-"

"No Edward, you need to finish school. I'm a little girl; Aunt Anne will teach me what I need to know. I'll be back before you know it, and I'll see you off on your first day with the military. I promise." They looked into each other's eyes and then they both finished getting Elaine's things.

- A few days later-

"Goodbye mother, goodbye father." Elaine said, hugging and kissing them both. She then turned to her beloved older brother. They stared at each other then Edward lifted her up and held her close.

"We're going to be a family again, soon. Do you hear me?" She nodded, tears streaming down her face. The whistle blew and Edward lifted her onto the train, he father handed her the suitcase and she waved to them until the train was out of sight.

-End of Flashback-

"Then for about a year, I wrote letters, but then, they just stopped coming back. After a while, Uncle Benjamin and took a train down to see where they were. When we arrived, we were told that my mother, father and brother all had died of influenza. From then until I was fifteen, I lived with my aunt and uncle. But one evening I was going to a neighbor's house do deliver some food my aunt had made for them. But then something attacked my, it was a vampire. It seemed its goal was to just drain me of blood, but for some reason, he just went away. That's when Brendon found me, he stayed with me until I had been transformed and then he taught me to feed on animals, I've traveled with him ever since."

Everyone nodded and let the story sink in.

"We'll what have you been up too for almost a century?" I asked. Edward then proceeded to explain everything that happened up until now.

"Wow, werewolves, humans falling in love with vampires. This would make a great romance novel." I said. Everyone just rolled their eyes.

"Oh, and Edward, Jasper and I all have different abilities. I can see the future, Edward can read minds and Jasper can control and is affected by emotions." Alice said. Brendon looked at me.

"Well, I guess this would be a good time to tell you about Elaine's 'power'." Said Brendon.
