The Animal Within

Jacob Black was not a man of many words, instead he filled his world with thoughts. Thoughts of Bella Swan who was soon to become a vampire. Little did he know that he still featured in her mind although her heart was the possession of another man. Will he ever free himself from the curse of loving Bella Swan, and if so: at what price?

Edward Cullen was an articulate man whose world revolved around Bella Swan. She filled his senses and completed him after years of roaming the world half-empty. He knew she loved another but held tightly onto the promise that she loved him more. Will his stars be re-aligned?

Inside us all is an animal raging to be free but you only know too late when it’s been set loose... And once it has, is there any chance of caging the beast?

“Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf?” I sang lightly under my breath, waiting at the edge of the forest. He would come to me, he had to: I loved him and he loved me. I waited eagerly for his kisses, his warm touch; his breathtaking hug.

I heard a growl and the thundering of Jacob’s paws on the forest floor. Suddenly it was quiet again and I could hear nothing but the sounds of the animals moving about, completely unaware of my pain. – He was taking such a long time. He appeared as a man: the most beautiful human I had ever seen. His uncovered body did not embarrass him and I gasped as his muscles gleamed under a thin layer of sweat whilst the hot summer sun beat down.

“I may be big, but I’m not bad.”

I smiled, and then threw him his trousers and giggled like schoolgirl as he hopped on one foot, trying to get in, “You’re very bad at that. It seems your better at taking your clothes off than putting them back on!” He blushed and charged at me enveloping me in a hug that forced me to the floor. He was careful to make sure he didn’t hurt me or break me in his large hands. As he looked deep into my eyes I felt the love radiating off him with the body heat, I let out a sigh: life was good.

“Bella Swan, I love you more than... Well, name anything!”

“I love you too.” He smiled and scattered kisses along my jaw line, down my neck, across my collarbone… A sigh escaped my lips, “Jacob Black, you’ll be the death of me. I think I’m about to have a heart attack!”

He jumped away and in mock horror said, “We can’t have that! I’m enforcing a restraining order. At all times you must stay at least five feet away.”

“Five feet? That makes kissing you incredibly hard… Impossible… I guess I’ll have to find someone else to do that, then… Shame, you were rather good.” I teased him, “But I’m sure there is better…”

He growled and pounced again, pinning me down, “You’ll be the death of me, Bella Swan. Your teasing drives me mad.”

“I know,” I smiled. My heart sped up and raced, warmth spread all over my body and I closed my eyes to take in the sun, my sun.

Suddenly it was as though the clouds had taken over the sky: a coldness spread across my waist. I awoke with a frown on my face.

Edward looked at me with concern.

It took me a minute to compose myself, “It’s nothing. Just a dream… A nightmare…” My lies had become more solid, they spouted from my mouth like water from a fountain. Suddenly I recoiled in horror, “I wasn’t talking in my sleep, was I?”

He shook his perfect head, his golden hair falling over his shining topaz eyes, “No, but shhh. Sleep now. It’s two in the morning. You’re safe: don’t worry. I’m here... I love you… Nothing can hurt you, not on my watch.”

I nestled against him and sighed. Ever since the wedding I’d been having the same dream of Jacob. I thought back to my vows and considered them. I was still faithful, in body, if not in mind. But I knew my choice was the right one: whilst I could not live without Edward, Jacob was a luxury. He came to me in my sleep, which soon I would not have. I moved closer to Edward and shivered slightly as I covered myself with as much of him as possible hoping his cool touch would keep Jacob’s warmth out of my dreams.

I whispered, “I love you too Edward” as slowly I drifted back to the forest with Jacob, completely oblivious to the fading of my sun outside the realm of my fantasies.

Author’s Note: The idea for this plot line came to me while I was on holiday in Scotland over the summer. I didn’t have any internet access so I couldn’t submit any of it… I realise that now Breaking Dawn is out and this story is totally out-dated… But please give it a try?

At first I know it seems dirty, but it’s not what you think! A lot of it is confused sexual innuendo, perfectly harmless. I think its PG13, if you have concerns, please tell me. – I’ll change it if you’re convinced otherwise.

Tell me what you think! I’d love reviews, ratings, comments… Anything! Please if you like it… Spread the word? (: Thanks. – Chrys.
