Also some people haven't realized this, I changed the title of this from, 'A New Point of veiw' to it's current title 'Afterlife'. Sorry for the confusion! Also in this and all of my other stories the pictures do not belong to me I don't claim them in any way what so ever and I put who does own them in the chapter. Don't sue me please.colorful-12.gif image by Erka_03Someone left me a review with a banner! I was so happy but then my mouse got knocked and the review got deleted. So if you are that amazing person who made me a banner, can you please try and put it in another review? I would be eternally greatfull.

Notes:
I own none of the characters in the fabulous Twilight Saga. The rest however are figments of my imagination. For anyone who knows me I picked the name for the main character because I couldn't think of a better one, and once I put it in there it just worked.

Chapter 12

"You’re supposed to!" Alice screamed at me from outside my bedroom door.

"Like I care Alice. What does it matter if I go or not?" I asked opening the door. She had been screaming at me for about half an hour, about going with Carlisle to adopted Kate Mason.

Alice had another vision, and Carlisle decided to act on it. "As long as she’s a vegetarian, she’s welcome." He had said.

"Besides," Esme had added, "If she doesn’t have a coven she’ll be lonely."

"Because," she screamed over my reminiscing, "she’s going to argue about staying with her friends and you were the one who put up the best argument. I’ve considered everyone else. Even Bella! No one puts up an argument like you. Come on!"

"Why can’t I just tell someone else what to say?" I asked really annoyed. I was going

to loose this and she knew it an edge of confidence had crept into her voice.

"You know that won’t work," she said smugly. So as soon as Carlisle got home we were off to the orphanage.

"What did those kids call the director again?" Carlisle asked me a bit worried. We told him and Esme about the life in the orphanage. She was absolutely horrified; she was close to going down there and adopting every single kid in that place. Carlisle stopped her though. There was no place for them to live. Carlisle was equally horrified, though.

"The Dragon lady," I said humorlessly. It was kind of depressing how evil that lady

was. Carlisle grimaced this was not going to be easy.

We got to the building and knocked on the door. There was something eerie about the place. It was way too nice to be an orphanage.

An out of breath teenager opened the door. "Sorry, didn’t hear it ring, come in, come in. I’m Patrice."

"Hello, I’m Carlisle and this is my son Edward, I was thinking of making an adoption." My father figure said kindly. She smiled slightly Oh, please take a younger one. Her thoughts said. She didn’t want them suffering anymore. I felt a surge of respect for this Patrice. She put the younger ones before herself.

"PATTY!!" Someone screeched. I winced the voice was so high pitched. "Who is it?"

Yelled the same voice.

Patrice squeaked a little reminding me of Bella, "C-Coming," she called, "You probably should c-come to." She said nervously, and rushed down a side hall.

"Um, these are C-Carlisle and E-Edward," Patrice said walking into a room. "They’ve come to make an adoption."

"Right," said the voice, "You may go. How may I help you?" asked the voice. It belonged to a middle-aged woman with reddish grey hair, and a pinched up face.

"Yes, I am Carlisle Cullen. I’ve come to make an adoption." Carlisle said kindly no matter how mean this lady was he wasn’t going to be rude.

"Right, look around the place. If you find a brat you like bring them to this office and

we’ll draw up the paper work." She said not looking up from her computer. Carlisle eyebrows were raised, his mouth hanging wide open. I was shocked to but nudged him, wanting to get out of this depressing place.

"Right," he managed to stammer out. As soon as we were out of the office he turned to me, "Right Edward lead the way." He said.

I nodded and started searching the thoughts of the kids in the orphanage. I eventually found Maxi, Aaron and Bridget. But Kate wasn’t with any of them. So I picked threw each individual, and eventually found a small girl who’s mind was picturing the scene in front of her.

A lot of small ones were sating in a circle listening to Kate Mason sing. "This way," I said. Leading the way down another side hallway, to the room they were sitting.

Eventually a voice singing reached our ears.

"All the boys who called their mothers on that day. Were no tough bunch, but they had the nerves, to go and say. That all your secrets were drowned. With the pioneers who were flooded from this town. They packed their bags only moments to late. With the pounding waves crashing up against the weakened water gates."

It sang, I headed towards the voice Carlisle now leading. Following the music. We came to a room with maybe twelve bunk beds. Kate was sitting on one with a crowd of maybe twelve girls around her.

"Cause dire times, call for dire faces. So lovely dancer, call and answer. Trade our places in the night. We're running barefoot, you and I. Dead lovers salivate. Broken hearts tessellate tonight. And all the kids who cut their knees on that old school yard fence. Were holding out for prosperity in self defense. We beat them down again. There’s no fun in playing cowboys for pretend. We showed them what the backs of our hands are for. The divide is clear in the coming year the rich will take the poor."

"She’s really quite good." Carlisle said, "Is that her?" He asked. I nodded my head slightly. Just enough so Carlisle would see.

"Cause dire times, call for dire faces. So lovely dancer, call and answer. Trade our places in the night. We're running barefoot, you and I. Dead lovers salivate. Broken hearts tessellate tonight."
When she was done all the kids clapped.

"Again! Again!" a bold looking girl yelled.

"Again?" Kate asked pulling the little one into her lap. "Why? I’ve sung that at least four times now." She said with a laugh.

"We like it," another girl said.

"Yes but don’t you want to hear a different song?" Kate asked.

By that time Carlisle and I had walked to where the girls were sitting. "What song was that?" I asked Kate. Almost at once all of the children screamed

"Tessellate!!!" Kate laughed, "Alright, alight. Calm down. I need to talk to the big people okay?"

"Fine," said the girl on her lap. Kate put her down and motioned for us to follow her out into the hall.

"Hello," Carlisle said as the door closed, "I believe you might be interested in joining our coven."

"I’d really rather not." She said. "They need me here."

"Alice is going to kill us if we come back without her." I said to Carlisle, ignoring what Kate said.

"Yes I know." He said a bit tersely. He didn’t need reminding. "And how will you stay under control?" he asked Kate. Her eyes flashed black for half a second.

"I’ve have been under control for the past 107 years. I’ve never once killed a human. I think I’ll be fine." She said a bit rudely but Carlisle had underestimated her.

"Carlisle hasn’t either and he’s over three hundred." I said making a point.

"I know how old he is Edward." She said. Carlisle and I both were shocked, how did she…"I knew as soon as the thought came into your head. Just as I know why you and your sister were looking us up on the internet when I met her the other day.

Congratulations by the way." She said jerking me out of my thoughts. I smiled slightly thinking about the wedding.

"What I don’t know, however. Is why I should leave my friends, and the other children here to be tortured by the Dragon Lady. Why don’t you take one of the younger kids none of them disserve to live this life." She asked angry now. I finally decided to speak.

"No one knows better then me how you want to protect them. But what exactly can you do, you’re a vampire eventually your going to be hungry, and one of them will cut themselves. You’ll kill then. And what will happen when all of the other ones see? When they’ve come to like you, then they see you kill. What will happen? And for that matter I don’t think they’ll fit in in a house full of vampires." That took her back.

"I wouldn’t hurt them. Do you know how many times Maxi's cut himself on his Cymbals?," she said looking pissed.

"There are always accidents," I said thinking of when I first met Bella. All, I wanted to do was kill her.

"Fine," she spat out probably hearing my thoughts. "Let me say goodbye." She stalked back into the room. We walked back too the Director’s office.

We walked into the room and sat in the two chairs in front of the desk. "She’ll be here in a minute." Carlisle said to the questioning glance the Dragon Lady shot him. She just nodded and went back to her computer.

I was thinking about how I finally got a sister who liked music and she absolutely loathed me. When I heard a snort behind me. I turned around to see Kate standing in

the door way. She was defiantly a mind reader.

"You think? Genius?" she asked me soft enough that the human in the room didn’t hear.

"HER!!! No, no I forbid it. She’s being punished." The Dragon Lady said.

"Man I hate it when people tell me what to do." Kate said under her breath. Then louder, "Oh? If I’m so much trouble why do you want to keep me here?"

"Because. Didn’t I tell you four to get rid of those things?" Dragon Lady said pointing at the guitar on Kate’s back. She was annoyed that she was outsmarted.

"Oh yes, like we’d really throw away the instruments that we saved up for, for two years." She said as rude as possible. Getting the other woman angry.

"Ugh, Get OUT!" She screamed. Kate just smirked and nodded slightly when Carlisle thought go put your stuff in the car, go with her Edward.

We walked out of the office, while the two of them talked about paper work. Kate was singing softly. It was that tessellate song she was singing to the kids earlier.

Eventually we got to Carlisle’s Mercedes. She whistled softly when she saw it. "Nice Car." She said either stunned or trying to make small talk. I just nodded and popped the trunk for her.

I watched as she put her bag and guitar case in. "What kind of guitar is that?" I asked her.

"A Laguna LE524 HH Electric." She said with a slight smile. You could tell she liked that guitar. I smiled slightly too, at least this girl liked something.
