My Last Hope
Ok just a warning I am terrible at summaries. What if Jasper wasn't meant for Alice? What if there was no Bella and Edward was with Alice? What if Jasper had been part of James's coven? What if the Cullens have a new member named Samantha? What if Jasper and Samantha(Sam to most) were meant for each other and just didn't know it? A/U I disclaim. Stephenie Meyer owns all recognizable characters and plot lines.
At first this is probably not going to make a lot of sense but this idea randomly popped into my head so I figured I’d run with it. Ok so lets make sure we have this straight. Everyone’s a vampire, Alice and Edward are together and Samantha recently joined the Cullens. Recently meaning right after they moved from Forks though she had been a ‘vegetarian’ for a long time before that. Jasper is wandering with Laurent, Victoria and James and is a human drinker. Everyone’s powers are the same and Samantha’s you will find out later. Since there isn’t a Bella(she just doesn’t exist) that means that the coven’s will have to meet somewhere else.

I knew what Jasper has smelled and without breathing I took off after him. He was fast, but I had my gift to use to my advantage. I used it to press him motionless to the ground. “Sorry Jazzy.” I murmured to him as I dropped to my knees next to him.
“I want it.” He snarled, his eyes blazing with thirst and want.
“I know, but you can’t. You don’t know who that is. They probably have a family waiting for them. You were human once; don’t take their life away from them. They could be young. And taking young life is one of the biggest sins. If it’s natural then it was their time to die, but we shouldn’t do it. We mustn’t do it.” I continued to mumble senselessly to him. I have a strong resistance to human blood and I could take deep breath now without much trouble.
I could see Jasper fighting my hold on him and I made sure that there weren’t any problems with it. I stroked his hair slowly. I knew the feeling of being trapped with nowhere to go, of not being able to have what you want most. The blood.
As we sat there, or I sat there and held Jasper down, I gave myself a chance to process my thoughts. I knew I loved Jasper. That much was obvious, even to me. Jason had told me to move on so that was just what I was going to do. “I love you, Jasper.” I whispered. My voice was shaky, much to my embarrassment.
His eyes snapped to mine. I quickly looked away from his penetrating gaze. I felt like he could read every thought I had with just that look. “Let me up.” He whispered hoarsely.
I eyed him carefully. He seemed under control, but you never really know. I took a deep breath and tasted the air. I couldn’t find even a trace of the tantalizing human scent. I gently lifted my force of gravity or whatever it was off him. He took a careful breath, and satisfied, that the air was unpolluted with the scent. Then he threw himself into my arms. “I love you too.” He whispered against my hair as he held me close. “So much.”
I sighed happily and pressed my face into his chest, breathing in his scent. Her rested his chin on the top of my head as I tucked it under his chin. Sitting like this, together, was what I knew my life had been building towards. Some people don’t believe in fate, but I do. I think that I was changed into this monster so that I could find my real soul mate, Jasper.
Happiness is not something I’ve experienced very often in the last few years, but in that moment I felt completely happy and content, that is until Alice had to come and ruin it.
“You didn’t let him did you?” She practically yelled. It took her a moment, but eventually she registered my glare. “Ok well I’ll be leaving then.” She said slowly backing away from the two of us. I raised my eyebrows and smiled evilly at her. She could tell I was about do use my power against her and did the smart thing, she ran. I smiled and shook my head at her. She was a strange one, that Alice. I laughed and Jasper smiled down at me. “Well I suppose we should get back to the house before she tells them all that we were out here for immoral purposes.” God, I loved his accent. The slight southern ring to everything he said. He was the love of my existence, he was my other half and I would kill anyone that got in the way of that.
“I guess we should.” I stood up and turned back in the direction of the house, but before I could take a step Jasper had me up in his arms bridal style. “I can walk on my own thank you very much.” I said, though the light breathlessness of my voice kind of ruined it.
“I’m sure you can, but this is more fun.” He smiled down at me and I got lost in the red-gold orbs. His eyes were filled with love and adoration. As he started running a growl ripped through the forest close to us.
I looked behind me and froze as a huge wolf walked out of the edges of the surrounding forest. It had it’s lips pulled back and was growling at the two of us. “Stay behind me.” I hissed as I set Samantha down. She just rolled her eyes at me and walked forward till she was slightly in front of me. She had the wolf pinned to the ground in seconds. I felt like an idiot for forgetting about her power.
As I was thinking about that a second wolf joined the first. She pinned him down too. “Change back and I’ll let you go.” She said calmly. Both wolves growled in response. “Dude I’ve seen my brother naked before it’s not like it’s going to matter.” I wasn’t following this at all. She sighed and rolled her eyes. “Fine I’ll just have to call Carlisle and Edward.” She sucked in a breath and both wolves started shimmering. In seconds two men lay where the wolves had been.
They stood up and each stepped into a pair of black cut-offs. “Now see, how hard was that?” She chided them. They rolled their eyes at her and then smiled. Wait a second, they smiled at her, after they had been trying to kill us a minute before? Now I was even more confused. Samantha ran forward and hugged the two men.
“Jasper, these are my two brother-in-laws Andy and Patrick. Andy, Patrick this is my boyfriend Jasper.” I liked the word boyfriend. Then I thought through the rest of the sentence. Wait, stepbrothers?
“Can somebody please explain what is going on here?” I asked in frustration.
Samantha giggled and started talking. “Andy and Patrick were Jason’s brothers. I was really close to them. Andy and Patrick are also werewolves and technically our sworn enemies, but we still get along just fine, even if they do smell.” Andy and Patrick glared at her. She ignored them and continued. “The werewolf gene passed over Jason, but showed up in these two. It’s very strange, but then again we shouldn’t really exist at all.” She shrugged and smiled at them. “It’s been a while since I saw you guys. Still haven’t imprinted?”
“Not yet. It’s been far to long since our last visit.” Andy said.
“Well after what we did to the car it was probably a good thing that we didn’t show up before now.” Patrick replied.
“Just so you know Rosalie still wants to rip two to shreds for that.” They looked away guiltily.
“Are you staying around here for awhile?” She asked.
“No, we were just passing through. We hear there’s a pack around here somewhere and we’d like to connect with them.” Patrick said.
“Well let me know how that goes.” Samantha said as the two phased and took off.
She looked over at me and must have seen the expression on my face because a smile lit up her eyes. “Surprised?” She asked.
“Incredibly.” I replied. For some reason I couldn’t keep my eyes off her lips. Those full perfect lips. Oh shut up Jasper. Don’t make a complete fool of yourself. I thought. She leaned forward and pressed her lips to mine briefly.“I’ll race you home.” She said as she took off towards the house. Home. I liked the word and as the humans say ‘Home is where the heart is’. Even if the heart is a cold hard stone. I smiled to myself and took off after her.
