Let the Games Begin

Bella's Point of View

Emmett and Jasper were sitting cross legged on the ground in front of the couch. Their eyes were glued to the new plasme TV they had just gotten. During one of Emmett's infamous wrestling matches with Jasper, he got a little too rough and accidentally smashed that plasma TV. Esme wasn't too upset--atleast it wasn't her furniture. . . So, Emmett took the liberty of setting things straight. He dutifully chose the newest, most expensive plasma TV and had it shipped over to their house overnight. He also bought a surround sound system that was better than a movie theater.

"Why on earth did you buy a surround sound?!" Edward had asked in a frustrated voice. Since Edward didn't know about that, my guess was that Emmett had carefully kept his thoughts occupied until it arrived.

"You bought a what?" Rosalie asked.

Emmett was practically jumping up and down with excitement. "I bought the world's best surround sound system in the world! It should be better than a movie theater!"

Rosalie had looked curious before, but now she just looked bored. "That's nice," Rosalie said in a voice that made you think she was watching grass grow.

Jasper had been quietly sitting on the couch, probably shifting through everyones emotions. He looked up at that. "Really?" He asked, his eyes were shining with excitement.

"Yeah! Isn't that awesome?!" Emmett asked us as he quickly set up the new TV and the surround sound at vampire speed.

Alice pranced down the stairs. "Did you set it up yet?" She asked.

Emmett was a blur as he raced around the living room. After a second he stopped next to Rosalie. "Yuppers."

"Oh, good." She was carrying a basket down the stairs.

"What is that?" Jasper asked as he tried to peek inside of the basket.

"It's an XBox. There are four controllers in here and the game Halo 2. I've never heard of it, but I had a vision and you were playing this game." Alice informed him.

"SWEETNESS!" Emmett screeched as he grabbed the basket from Alice and raced back to the living room. He was back before I could blink.

"I still don't understand why you got a surround sound system," Edward muttered. "For goodness sake Emmett! We have sensitive hearing!"

"So. . ." Emmett said, obviously not caring.

"You think through things too much Eddie," Jasper grinned. "Your emotions are making my brain hurt." He unconsciously rubbed the side of his head.

"It's not my fault that your brain can't handle my complex thought process," Edward said defensively.

Emmett snorted. "That's funny, Edward!"

Edward glared at him. "Atleast I think!"

Rosalie laughed at that, but stopped when she saw Emmett staring at her. "I'm-I'm sorry, Emmett! That was funny!"

Alice and Jasper joined in.

"Well. . .atleast. . ." Emmett was clearly trying to think of a better comeback. The grin that slowly grew on his face let me know that he had, in fact, thought of one. "Atleast I never had a stuffed animal named Cupcake!"

I giggled. Edward glanced down at me. "What kind of name is Cupcake?!" I asked, laughing along with everyone else.

"Cupcake is a good name!" Edward said matter-of-factly.

"Man, didn't you sleep with that thing too?" Jasper said over the laughter. That only started another wave of laughter.

Suddenly, Edward disappeared from my side. I whirled around, looking for him before I found him holding the XBox in his hands in the living room. He had a grim smile on his face.

"NO! Not the XBox!" Emmett shouted. He started to run toward Edward but Jasper held him back. The scene reminded me of the movies where a kid gets separated from his mom because of the large crowd and they show him trying to run to her in slow motion, yelling "Mom!", but the crowd is impossible to walk through.

"Let me go! It's mine!" Emmett yelped.

"Sometimes, there are things in life that you just have to let go of Emmett," Jasper said in mock sadness.

"I don't want a stinkin' lecture! I want my XBox away from that-that XBox threatener!" Emmett yelled. Wow, he is really getting pretty stressed out over this. . .

Rosalie and Alice were next to me, and all three of us were laughing at the humorous scene laid out in front of us.

"Rose! Alice! ATTACK!" Emmett shouted in a commanding voice.

"Hey! That is my voice! You have to earn the right to be able to command people in that voice. I earned it buddy! YOU DIDN'T!" Jasper growled.

Emmett looked amused. "Ah, just back off Major Jasper Whitlock."

"Oh and, we are not helping you, this is too funny!" Alice and Rose giggled.

"I take that name with honor, Emmett Cullen!" Jasper said angrily.

"Sure you do," Emmett said absently. "Now just let me go, Jasper! I have an XBox to save!"

"You were in the army for heaven's sake! Save my innocent hunk of metal!" Emmett said quickly.

Jasper sent a wave of calm around the room. "JASPER!" Emmett roared. "I do not want to calm down right now! You cut that out!"

I saw Jasper grin.

All the while, Edward had been patiently standing in the living room, XBox in hand, watching the scene with an amused expression on his face.

In desperation, Emmett turned to me. "Bella," he asked in his saddest voice. He put on the best puppy dog face, how could I not help? "Please? Just calm your wild boyfriend down so that he doesn't harm her," he begged.

I couldn't help it. Who calls an XBox a 'her'? That last word ruined the magic of his acting skills. "Her?!" I asked in disbelief.

Rosalie, Alice, Jasper and Edward burst out laughing.

Emmett sighed in frustration. "Cupcake!"

"Take it back!" Edward yelled. "You know that stuffed animal was awesome!"

"Was." Emmett stated. "And why use the past tense, Edward?" Emmett was openly grinning now.

Edward just stared at him, then slowly looked around him to glare at Jasper. "Uh oh," I heard Jasper whisper.

"I lost it," Edward said simply. He stiffened. Probably reading Emmett's thoughts.

"WHAT?!" He roared.

"Emmett. . ." Jasper said weakly.

"It's about time you've learned to be a man!" Emmett exclaimed.

A wave of nervousness was sent around the room.

Edward looked furious. Jasper flinched. "Couldn't we've started with something smaller?" Jasper whispered.

"This, my friend, is nothing compared to Rosalie when she gets mad," Emmett muttered under his breath.

"What did you just say?" Rosalie asked in a deadly quiet voice.

"Erm. . .nothing?"

"Emmett," Rosalie began. Before she could even start her lecture, Edward slowly put down the XBox, glaring at Jasper the whole time.

Jasper quickly let go of Emmett, who ran over to his XBox and started talking to it. "Are you alright, baby?" and "It's okay, I won't let mean Edward near you!" or "You're safe now, don't worry!"

"I'll let you off the hook this time, Jasper, because I don't want to fight you." Edward said quietly.

"Phew!" Jasper said loudly. Sarcasm, for sure. "Thank God! I get to live!"

Before I could ask what Jasper had done with Edward's stuffed animal, Cupcake, *giggle* Alice went rigid at my side. A vision. Jasper ran over to her and held her hand.

Everyone was around Alice, when the vision finally ended.

She glanced at Rosalie and said, "Come on. There are sales all over the mall today!"

"That's it?" Emmett asked, disappointment clear in his voice.

"Maybe, maybe not," Alice said slyly.

She glanced at Edward, who looked frustrated. He probably didn't know what the vision was about. He always wants to know everything. . .

Maybe if I stayed really quiet, she wouldn't remember me. THEN I wouldn't have to go shopping.

Alice looked at me. It was as if she could read my thoughts. "You can stay here today."

"YES!" I sighed in relief.

"Come on Alice!" Rosalie said impatiently.

"Bye Jazz!" And with that, they were out of the house.

"Bye. . ." Jasper said, a second late. I looked at Edward. He looked confused.

"What is it?" I asked him.

He shook his head. "It's nothing. . ." he looked puzzled though. When he noticed my investigation of his expressions he quickly smiled and said, "Really, don't worry."

I sighed. "Whateva!" I walked over to the couch and plopped down on it.

Emmett snorted. "Nice, Bella."

"That takes some serious skill, Emmett!" I said in mock seriousness.

"Yeah, we'll see about that one," he said as he was about to plop on the couch. He imitated me perfectly. But before his body hit the couch, Jasper and Edward pulled him back.

"Wha'? HEY!" Emmett shouted. "I was doin' good too!"

"You were going to break Esme's furniture!" Edward said slowly.

"Duh. . .!" Jasper said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Oh," Emmett said, finally realizing what he was about to do, he glared at me. "Bella! That was mean! You tricked me!"

"Don't blame Bella for your lack of brain cells," Edward said sternly as he and Jasper let go of Emmett.

"Yeah Emmett!" I chirped.

"Come on EMMETT!" Jasper joined in.

"What is this?! Pick on Emmett Day?" Emmett asked in annoyance.

"No. That's every Thursday," Jasper said matter-of-factly.

Emmett looked speechless. "You-You have a day of the week for ME?" he asked in astonishment.

"If you think that's a good thing, then I don't know what to say," I said.

Jasper spoke louder than was neccessary. "Can we just play Halo now? There are four controllers and four players so let's get this show on the road!"

Edward and I sat on the couch while Emmett and Jasper quickly sat on the ground. Since the XBox was Emmett's, we let him set up the game.

"Let the games begin," I heard Edward mutter.
