I started laughing along with Jacob only a few seconds after Jamie's question. The Cullens and Renesme were quick to join in.

"It's true that normal vampires are the wolves' enemies, but Jake was my best friend when I was human. We still are...although when he imprinted on Renesme I almost tore his throat out," I confessed, still laughing.

"You would have if Seth hadn't got in the way," Renesme pointed out. I stopped laughing and sighed.

"I can't believe I broke his shoulder...normally I would have been the one with a broken bone," I muttered.

"Hold up just a second," Jared interrupted, speaking for the first time. "What's imprinting?"

"Jake, you'd better explain that one," I told him. "I still don't understand it."

Jacob turned to look at me and poked his tongue out, an action I returned. He rolled his eyes and searched for the words to begin.

"Imprinting is a wolf thing," he began, still searching for the words. "I guess...it's kinda like finding your soulmate. The moment you see her, the one who's meant for you, everything chages. Gravity moves. There's nothing holding you to the Earth but her. You'd do anything she needs or wants, be anything she needs. Whether that be a nanny, a brother, a friend...I've been it all." Renesme smiled, and touched his cheek lightly. I didn't need to read minds to know what she was telling him. It was too obvious.

"At first, I thought I was in love with Bella," Jake continued. "Before she agreed to marry Edward. He wasn't too happy with me," he added, laughing. Edward did too. "But now I think I was just recognising Renesme in her...As soon as I saw Renesme, nothing else mattered. I became whatever she wanted me to be. I still do whatever she needs of me."

"Basically, he got suckered," Emmett snickered. I moved before Jacob could, punching his jaw. It sounded like two rocks crashing together. All the humans stared at me, and I shrugged.

"Sorry. I just don't care for some of Emmett's jokes." Emmett laughed aloud.

"I remember when you broke your hand trying to break Jake's jaw," he chuckled. I scowled. I remembered too.

"I had good reason," I muttered darkly.

"I almostpunched him," Edward growled, remembering. Jake shrugged.

"It's not my fault Bella forgot I have a hard head. And I did warn her to find a crowbar in case she wanted to hit me again."

Listening to Renesme, Jacob and the Cullens banter, I got the feeling they'd been through a lot together and for each other. I found Ian's hand and held it tightly as we waited for them to finish joking around. They were so comfortable with each other...it was kind of funny. Suddenly Alice, the little one, stood straighter.

"Yay! Thunderstorm!" she exclaimed. "Who brought the baseball things?" she asked her family. Rosalie, the tallest woman with the long blonde hair and perfect face, rolled her eyes as Emmett, her husband, I guessed, slung a bag off his back I hadn't noticed until now and pulled out a bat. Alice clapped her hands excitedly, and I saw Jasper laugh at her enthusiasm.

"Who wants to watch some baseball?" she asked.
