I was running through the forest, brushing branches and leaves out of my way and I moved forward. My feet moved perfectly in time with the rest of my body. I laughed joyfully as I jumped over a log, landing on the damp ground with no more then a silent squish. I turned a sharp right, not messing up my footing one bit. I heard a low grumble behind me and decided to play another trick. I dropped to the ground behind another log I was jumping over. I felt the air rush over me as he jumped. Before he could land, I pulled on his leg, sending him tumbling into the mud. I laughed widely and jumped up, and started to run again. I heard a low growl come from behind me, so I turned around to face his mud covered face. But no one was there. Instead, though, I felt something heavy knock into my back, ending up in me becoming a mud monster. I heard a beautiful laugh come from over me, so I wiped off the mud covered my eyes. Above me stood my Edward gorgeous even with mud covering his angelic features. He chuckled and held out his hand for me. I rolled my eyes and took his hand…before pulling him into the mud with me. We laid back in the mud, laughing and looking like the lunatics we are. He then sat up on his elbow so that he could look at me. I sat up, too. I wiped off the mud caked onto my face and arms. Edward chuckled as he cleaned himself off, too. But we both didn’t get very clean. I gave up and stretched out my arms. Edward chuckled again and brought me in closer. We sat there just enjoying each other’s company for who knows how long. Edward moved a strand of stray hair out of my face. He tilted my head up and kissed me softly at first, then becoming more and more involved as the seconds ticked on. I ran my hands through his somehow perfect hair even after the action it saw. I wondered how my hair survived after all the little teasing games we would play. They would somehow always end up in either or both of us getting completely dirty. We would base the level of filth on our clothes off how much fun we had. So far that day, we were having lots of fun. After I started to become a little lightheaded, even though I was a vampire, I pulled back from Edward and tried to catch my breath. It looked like he was doing the same thing.

“I love you,” he said quietly, taking my hand in his.

“I love you, too,” I responded. More then everything in the world, I thought silently. I knew he would hear it. Over the weeks I was a vampire, I discovered more to my talent. I could sent a message to another person if I concentrated hard enough. But then I silently wondered if I always would have thought that. I didn’t remember most of my human life. That fact saddened me alone. But I would get over it as soon as Edward kissed me again, as he was doing that very second. I let myself be absorbed by the moment.

“Bella,” Edward said, pulling back regretfully. I pouted until I saw the look on his face. I sat up and looked at him seriously. “Bella,” he started again. “I love you more then anything, and I want to be with you forever,” he said quickly. I nodded.

“You already have me forever,” I reminded him. He looked at me frustrated.

“Not like that! Bella…” he said taking a deep breath. “I want to have you forever. I want to be able to call you mine. I don’t just want to be your boyfriend,” he said nervously. I didn’t know what he was getting at, so I just listened intently. “Bella…I want you to marry me,” he said slowly. I nodded, not piecing together what he was saying. But then it hit me. Edward just proposed! And he was waiting for an answer! My mouth dropped open, surprised. I looked around at the setting. We were in the middle of the forest, covered in mud. Maybe Edward found that romantic…And maybe I did, too…No, I didn’t. “Bella?” he asked again, worried about my answer. I smiled deeply. I looked at him intently, just to work him up.

“Of course I will marry you, Edward,” I said calmly. The smile on his face was so big I thought it would just pop off. But it didn’t and he kissed me passionately. He then pulled out a velvet box that surprisingly didn’t have a speck of mud on it. He opened up the box, took out the ring and slipped it on my finger. I took a good look at it. It was a gold band covered in diamonds and a topaz gem that stood out among the rest. I then saw why Edward chose that exact time to propose to me. No matter how horrible or dirty our lives could get, we would always have each other. We were a beautiful topaz gem in a sea of diamonds, our love was our own. We were two lovers in a field of mud, enjoying our time together even if we are covered in filth. We were and always will be Edward and Bella, fighting against the odds.
