The plane ride took forever. Alice was in a trance the whole time and Beck chattered endlessly. I tried to fall asleep a few times but I couldn’t. I was just to excited about what might be at the end of the trip. If Edward was in Montana, then we would find him. And if not…

“Bella!” Alice’s voice shook me out of my thoughts. I looked at her curiously.

“What Alice?” I asked.

“We’re landing!” Alice said excitedly. I looked out of the window expectedly and saw the air port come into view. The flight attendant said the usual safety precautions and I became jumpy. Edward, Edward, Edward. I chanted over and over in my head. But I had to calm down. He may not be there, I reminded myself. Nevertheless, I was still fidgety by the time we landed. I rushed out of the airplane, followed by Alice and Beck. I stopped and turned to them when we were out side.

“What now?” I asked quickly. I looked to Alice and Beck for an answer.

“Well…we have to figure out where Edward is first…” Alice said wearily. What? He could be anywhere in Montana! And Montana is a pretty big state! Alice say my obvious panic. “But we will find him!” she added quickly. It didn’t help me that much.

“Where do we look first?” I asked after taking a deep breath.

“Well, I can check my visions…and maybe Beck can help us out?” Alice said and looked towards Beck.

“I can do what I can. But I can only help you to an extent…” Beck closed her eyes and then was gone. I blinked several times surprised by her disappearance.

“Beck?” I called out. She appeared right in front of me, making me jump back with a yelp.

“He’s not nearby unfortunately, but I have an idea where he is,” Beck said proudly.

“Where is he?” I asked all too eager. I practically jumped on Beck.

“Calm down! Jeez! I can only say that he’s north. Almost directly.” Beck smoothed out her dress which was wrinkled due to my jumpiness. Okay…north, directly north…that’s not too hard…

“We have to go now,” Alice said suddenly. She grabbed my wrist and placed me on her back. She and Beck ran into the forest. The wind rushed over me and I realized how much I missed that. It made a single tear run down my cheek. Suddenly Alice stopped. I looked around to see why. The sun made an appearance and the forest ended in front of us. Alice couldn’t take another step without stepping into the direct rays of the sun. Then a twig snapped behind us. I turned my head around to see Jonathan, James and Victoria standing in back of us. We were trapped.

“Hello, Bella. Nice day isn’t it?” Jonathan said. Alice dropped me on the ground and I scrambled to stand up. Beck automatically went over to my side and picked me up. She looked like she was going to run, but Jonathan aimed one of those deadly things at Alice. “This is strong enough to go right through her,” Jonathan warned.

“Beck, stop!” I yelled out. Beck hesitated and slowly took me off her back.

“Now give me the girl,” Jonathan commanded.

“I’m not an idiot,” Beck said in return.

“Oh really? If your so smart, then you should have been able to avoid the situation. Give the girl to me or vampire here will have no head. I’ll count to three. One.”

“Beck!” I yelled. She was doing nothing.

“Two.”

“Beck do something!”

“Three.” There was a flash of black and I closed my eyes not wanting to see what was left of Alice. But I felt a cold hand on my shoulder and I opened my eyes confused. Alice stood right next to me.

“You seem to have forgotten that vampires are really, really fast,” Beck laughed. I sighed in relief. But as soon as I was starting to get hopeful, I felt something hard knock me to the ground. Victoria was standing next to me with her foot on my chest.

“I thought I told you to keep your mate out of the way!” Jonathan yelled to James.

“Well, you weren’t doing anything!” James yelled back. “I want my revenge. Now!” Victoria laughed and started to press down.

I yelled out in pain as I felt my ribs starting to bend. Victoria was so caught up in killing me that she must have forgotten that I was not alone. Alice rushed over and knocked Victoria away. James rushed over to help Victoria, but Beck was there to send a white ball of sharp objects into James’s stomach. He let out an “oomph” before clutching tumbling over. Jonathan then rushed to James’s side and fired a black stream of fire, or I thought it was fire, at Beck. But she dodged it easily and it hit Victoria. Victoria let out a very loud scream and dropped to the ground. She seemed to be dead or at least paralyzed so Alice went to help Beck. And I was just sitting there uselessly watching as four immortals battled over my life. My chest was starting to feel better so I tried to stand up. It hurt a little, but I managed to stand up strait against a tree.

“Bella watch out!” Alice cried. I looked towards the fight. Time seemed to move in slow motion as another stream of black fire sprouted from Jonathan’s hand and headed towards me.
